The purpose of this research is to provide new direction on the field of the furniture design and to establish the identity of Korean furniture design as the flow of craft's juxtapose mixture era where it mix and match Korean traditional craft style materials with the modern furniture design. In other words, it is intended to create new furniture design and propose beautiful Korean luxury furniture design based on the precious unique culture with the traditional craft style, juxtaposition of modern furniture, and reinterpretation. It should grant artistic values that can satisfy consumers having various tastes and scarcity values, plus it should put out aesthetic and creative expressions in furniture design putting into the beautiful traditional craft form values. Furthermore, it is required to create new design through values and spirit, materials, techniques, forms, pattern, and usages by interacting, coordinating, and combining tradition and modern East and West, plus craft and design.

공예는 우리의 생활 속에서 그 지역의 오랜 문화적 특성과 전통을 중심으로 한 나라의 역사적 문화를 대변하는 하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 동시대의 현대적 문화도 대변하고 있다는 점에서 공예품에 대한 관심이 날로 높아지고 있다. 하지만 이러한 성장 잠재력에도 불구하고 우리가 접하는 공예는 변화하는 시대적 환경을 반영하지 못하고 70~80년대의 민예산업수준을 벗어나지 못하고 있는 상황이다. 대부분의 산업공예업체는 고도화된 공예기술을 보유하고 있으나 시장성 있는 제품으로 승화시키지 못하고 있다. 또한 지금까지 산업공예의 발전을 위한 방안뿐만 아니라 산업공예에 디자인 경영 관점에서의 연구도 많이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 산업 공예에 있어서 디자인 경영 전략이 산업공예 제품 구매의도에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보려고 한다. 연구 과정에서 파악된 주요 내용은 다음과 같다. 디자인 경영 전략은 산업공예 제품 구매의도에 영향을 준다. 디자인 경영 전략의 하위요소인 비용 절감지향 디자인 전략, 이미지 지향 디자인 전략, 그리고 시장 지향 디자인 전략 중 이미지 지향 디자인 전략과 시장 지향 디자인 전략이 산업공예 제품 구매의도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 이미지 지향 디자인 전략은 시장 지향 디자인 전략보다 더 산업공예 구매의도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

The creative energy of the Korean women who pursued spiritual artistic practices under the limited situation of male-dominated confucian society in the Chosun Dynasty(AD 1392 - AD 1910) constituted the background for the development of Gubang Craft. Gubang Craft represented their artistic abilities, moral and family values, and the pursuit of self-esteem. Especially embroidery successfully showed four main elements of Gubang Craft such as embellishment, diversity, femininity, and craftsmanship. This paper is designed to explore how the traditional elements of embroidery works are restored and have influence on the modern Korean fiber art.

2017년에 시작된 Loewe Craft Prize는 현재 전 세계에서 가장 권위 있는 공예 공모전으로 자리매김 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 럭셔리 브랜드에서 시작된 Loewe Craft Prize가 4년이라는 짧은 시간 동안 모든 공예를 아우르는 최고의 공모전으로 발전한 배경에 주목하였다. 전세계적으로 다양한 공모전이 존재하는 공예에서 장르의 다양성과 재료의 한계가 없는 Loewe Craft Prize가 만들어 내고 있는 공예의 관심도는 어떠한 공모전도 이루어 내지 못한 실적이다. 이는 Loewe Craft Prize가 가지고 있는 공예에 대한 뚜렷한 가치관과 기존의 단일 재료로 구성된 공모전과는 차별화 된 복합 공모전을 형성, 발전시킴으로서 가능한 일이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 결과가 나오게 된 배경인 재료의 융복합, 전통과 현대의 융합, 과학과 공예의 융합을 통한 사례들을 연구하였으며 작가들의 성향과 작품을 통한 현대 공예의 흐름에 대해 알아보았다. 또한 공예 장르의 확장이 가지고 있는 의미가 현대 공예에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 한다.

This article aims to discover the current status and appropriate way to research Gyubang craft, expecting its development and preservation, and elevating it to Korea's unique artistic textile culture. It also searches improved methods for Gyubang craft as the following: First, in order to avoid confusions about Gyubang craft, appropriate concepts and definitions of Gyubang craft must be settled through a discussion among experts. Second, by activating economic activities at lower ratio, among purposes of Gyubang craft, achievements must be elevated. Third, in order to settle down the difficulties of Gyubang craft, a variety of methods such as effective sewing machines and manufacturing techniques as well as providing materials at a reasonable price, considering practical ways through diversifying products, elevating the economy of crafts, exploring sales routes, improving educational contents, and expanding educational places must be facilitated. Fourth, for nurturing talented and excellent human resources in the area of Gyubang craft, the followings should be considered: diversifying contents of education, developing textbooks, improving instructors' quality, providing reasonable cost of education, educating on the utilization and application of Gyubang craft, introducing efficient teaching methods through textbooks and multimedia, awarding 'certificates' to trainees, and permitting certificate holders' to instruct Gyubang craft. Finally, it is convinced that the achievement of production, pride of preserving tradition, pleasure of procedural work, economic activities as experts, and sales of products will be reinforced, and the population for Gyubang craft is also expected to increase. By elevating Gyubang craft into Korea's traditional textile art, Korea's global competitiveness in the area of textile should be strengthened.

기계테크놀로지의 발달로 수작업을 중심하는 공예산업이 사양화 되고잇다. 산업혁명에 대한 당시의 사회문제를 비판했던 러스킨과 모리스의 사상은 오늘날가지 영향을 미치고 있다. 본연구는 공예활동의 발전과 위상정립을 위하여 그들의 사상을 중심으로 공예 본질적 개념을 정리하고 공예 사회적 역할을 논하고자 하였다. 기게생산에 의한 반발로 소비자의 취향이 개성화를 요구하고 생산라인의 소량다품종화의 문제를 공예적 생산방법으로 해결할 수 있다는 것은 공예생산의 존제 필요성을 입증하며 더욱이 대주으이 정신적생활이 중시되는 현시점에서 공예의 사회적 역할로써 기계적생활에 대한 감성적생활의 교육적 역할이 중요함을 논했다.
