열처리 조건에 따른 무전해 Ni/전해 Cr 이중도금의 계면반응 및 균열성장거동 분석 (Effects of Heat Treatment Conditions on the Interfacial Reactions and Crack Propagation Behaviors in Electroless Ni/electroplated Cr Coatings)

  • 무전해 Ni/전해Cr이중도금 구조에서 무전해 Ni의 결정화 열처리 조건이 Cr도금의 균열성장 및 Ni/Cr계면반응에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 비정질 무전해 Ni/전해 Cr 도금 후 $750^{\circ}C$에서 6시간 동안 1회 열처리한 시편을1단계 열처리 조건으로 정했다. 또한, 무전해 Ni도금 후 동일 열처리를 통해 결정화 시킨 후, 전해 Cr도금 후 한번 더 동일조건 열처리한 경우를 2단계 열처리 조건으로 정하여 상호 비교하였다. 두 가지 열처리 조건 모두에서 공통적으로 Ni/Cr계면에서 상호확산에 의한 Ni-Cr고용체band layer가 관찰되었다. 1단계 열처리 조건의 경우 Cr도금에 관통균열이 발생하였으며, 2단계 열처리 조건의 경우 Cr도금에 표면 미소균열만 형성되고 관통균열은 거의 발생하지 않았다. 이는 무전해 Ni도금 직후 열처리에 의해 Ni-P비정질 구조에서 Ni, $Ni_3P$상으로 결정화되면서 급격한 체적 감소가 발생하여 Cr층의 잔류응력 완화에 영향을 끼쳐서, 상부 전해 Cr도금의 관통균열 형성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다.

AIP 와 스퍼터링으로 복합증착된 420 스테인리스강의 TiN과 CrN 박막에 미치는 중간층의 영향 (Effect of Interlayer on TiN and CrN Thin Films of STS 420 Hybrid-Deposited by AlP and DC Magnetron Sputtering)

  • Effects of interlayer and the combination of different coating methods on the mechanical and corrosion behaviors of TiN and CrN coated on 420 stainless steel have been studied. STS 420 specimen were tempered at $300^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr in vacuum furnace. The TiN and CrN thin film with 2 ${\mu}m$ thickness were coated by arc ion plating and DC magnetron sputtering following the formation of interlayer for pure titanium and chromium with 0.2 ${\mu}m$ thickness. The microstructure and surface analysis of the specimen were conducted by using SEM, XRD and roughness tester. Mechanical properties such as hardness and adhesion also were examined. XRD patterns of TiN thin films showed that preferred TiN (111) orientation was observed. The peaks of CrN (111) and $Cr_2N$ (300) were only observed in CrN thin films deposited by arc ion plating. Both TiN and CrN deposited by arc ion plating had the higher adhesion and hardness compared to those formed by magnetron sputtering. The specimen of TiN and CrN on which interlayer deposited by magnetron sputtering and thin film deposited by arc ion plating had the highest adhesion with 22.2 N and 19.2 N. respectively. TiN and CrN samples shown the most noble corrosion potentials when the interlayers were deposited by using magnetron sputtering and the metal nitrides were deposited by using arc ion plating. The most noble corrosion potentials of TiN and CrN were found to be approximately -170 and -70 mV, respectively.

도금업체 공정별 근로자의 총크롬 및 6가 크롬 노출 평가 (Worker Exposure Assessment on Airborne Total Chromium and Hexavalent Chromium by Process in Electroplating Factories)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine characteristics of workers' exposures to airborne total and hexavalent chromium by job title in electroplating processes. Methods: Total Cr was determined through a modified method based on NIOSH Method 7024. Airborne hexavalent Cr, Cr(VI), was sampled and extracted according to NIOSH Method 7600 and analyzed at 520 nm using an ion chromatograph/visible detector. Results: The geometric mean(GM) of total Cr concentrations from all factories was $11.2{\mu}g/m^3$(GSD=4.9). The GM of Cr(VI) concentrations from all factories was $2.84{\mu}g/m$ (GSD=5.2), and the concentrations among factories were significantly different (p<0.05). The Cr(VI) levels were lower than total Cr levels. Total Cr exposure levels were highest among buffing workers ($21.6{\mu}g/m^3$), but Cr(VI) levels were highest among plating workers($4.15{\mu}g/m^3$). The concentrations of Cr(VI) and total Cr from plating tasks was highly correlated(r=0.91). Conclusions: In the electroplating industry, plating workers were mainly exposed to Cr(VI), but others were not. Oxidation-reduction states of Cr and job titles should be considered in the exposure or risk assessments of chrome electroplating factories.

Effect of Working Pressure and Substrate Bias on Phase Formation and Microstructure of Cr-Al-N Coatings

  • With different working pressures and substrate biases, Cr-Al-N coatings were deposited by hybrid physical vapor deposition (PVD) method, consisting of unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering and arc ion plating (AIP) processes. Cr and Al targets were used for the arc ion plating and the sputtering process, respectively. Phase analysis, and composition, binding energy, and microstructural analyses were performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), respectively. Surface droplet size of Cr-Al-N coatings was found to decrease with increasing substrate bias. A decrease of the deposition rate of Cr-Al-N films was expected due to the increase of substrate bias. The coatings were grown with textured CrN phase and (111), (200), and (220) planes. X-ray diffraction data show that all Cr-Al-N coatings shifted to lower diffraction angles due to the addition of Al. The XPS results were used to determine the $Cr_2N$, CrN, and (Cr,Al)N binding energies. The compositions of the Cr-Al-N films were measured by XPS to be Cr 23.2~36.9 at%, Al 30.1~40.3 at%, and N 31.3~38.6 at%.

폐굴껍질에 의한 산성도금폐수의 연속 중화시 중금속제거 특성 (Removal Characteristics of Heavy Metals by Continuous Neutralization of Plating Wastewater with Waste-Oyster Shells)

  • 본 연구에서는 도금폐수의 처리 및 폐굴껍질의 재활용 방안으로 폐굴껍질의 중화능과 중금속 흡착능을 Bohart-Adam 식에 의한 현장적용인자를 도출하여 향후 폐굴껍질과 유사한 성분을 함유하고 있는 수산폐기물의 재활용 가능성을 고찰해보고자 한다. 국내 해안 양식업 중에 비중이 높은 굴양식업은 다량의 폐굴껍질을 부산물로 발생시키며 이 폐굴껍질은 여러 가지 환경문제를 야기시키고 있다. 이러한 폐굴껍질은 약 93% 정도의 $CaCO_3$성분을 함유하고 있어 산성폐수의 pH 상승에 의한 중화능과 다공질체로서 중금속과 유기물에 대한 높은 흡착효율을 기대 할 수 있다. 여기서, 흡착탑의 사용시간과 흡착효율만 비교해 보면, 흡착탑의 사용시간은 Cr>Fe>Cu 순으로 나타났으나, 흡착효율은 Fe>Cr>Cu 순으로 나타났다. 이것은 흡착효율면에서 Fe이 Cr보다 우수하지만, Fe이 Cr에 비해 고농도이기 때문에 단시간에 배출기준농도에 도달함을 알 수 있다.

  • The typical MCFC (molten carbonate fuel cell) anode is made of Ni-10%Cr alloy. The work of this paper is focused concerning long life of anode because Ni-10% Cr anode is suffering from sintering and creep behavior during cell operation. Therefore, Ni-coated Alumina powder($20{\mu}m$) was developed by electroless nickel plating. Optimum condition of electroless nickel coation on $20{\mu}m$ alumina is as follows: pH 11.7, temperature $65{\sim}80^{\circ}C$, powder amount $100cm^2/l$. The deposition rate for Ni-electroless plating was as a function of temperature and activation energy was evaluated by Arrhenius Equation thereby activation energy calculated slope of experimental data as 117.6 kJ/mol, frequency factor(A) was $6.28{\times}10^{18}hr^{-1}$, respectively.

폐산화철촉매에 의한 도금폐수중 크롬이온 회수에 관한 기초연구 (A study on the recovery of chromium from metal-plating wastewater with spent catalyst)

  • 석유화학공정으로부터 폐기되는 폐산화철촉매를 이용하여 도금합성폐수중 크롬회수에 관한 연구를 회분식과 연속식으로 실시하였다. 도금합성제수 중 $CrO _{4}^{-2}$ 형태의 음이온으로 존재하는 6가 크롬은 폐산화철촉매의 등전점(pH 3.0)이하에서 폐촉매와 물리적 흡착을 한다. 한편, 6가 크롬은 pH 3.0 이상에서도 폐촉매의 수산화철과 산화환원반응에 의해 일부 환원되어 $Cr(OH)_3$로 침전한다. 컬럼을 이용한 크롬 연속회수실험에서 크롬합성폐수의 pH가 0.5∼2.0일 때 폐촉매의 크롬흡착량은 2.0∼2.3g/L이며, pH가 3.0에서는 1.5g/L이었다. 폐수 중 크롬농도가 50∼500mg/L로 높아질수록 폐촉매에 흡착한 크롬누적량은 1.29∼8.56g/L로 증가하지만, 유속이 30∼80 ml/mm으로 증가하여도 크롬 흡착누적량은 2.21∼2.49 mg/L로 거의 유사하였다.

  • The friction and wear characteristics of CrN and TiN coatings on SKD61 which is mold material using for extrusion of AZ80 magnesium alloy were investigated. The coatings were deposited by the arc ion-plating method, and the thickness were about $3.59{\mu}m$ and $3.28{\mu}m$, respectively. Reciprocating friction wear tests were conducted by varying pin load and temperature of counter substrate at un-lubricated condition. The pin loads were 11, 15 and 19 kgf, and the substrate temperatures were room temperature and $120^{\circ}C$. CrN coating which has a lower friction coefficient and a smaller adhesive wear with AZ80 magnesium alloy showed better wear resistance than TiN coating.

  • Ti-Al-Cr-N thin layer was prepared on Fe-Si thin sheet by arc ion plating to improve corrosion and mechanical properties. The compositions ratios of Fe : Cr : Al : Ti : Si : N of the thin layers at $500^{\circ}C$ was 1.24 : 0.56 : 36.82 : 32.72 : 0.59 : 28.07 [wt.%], respectively. The higher arc ion plating temperature was, the higher corrosion resistance and nano-hardness were observed due to chromium content. Corrosion potential and corrosion rate in artificial sea water of the coating layer were in the range of $-39mV_{SHE}$ and $2mA/cm^2$, respectively. Passivity was not observed in the artificial sea water. Nano-hardnesses of the thin layers was increased by adding Cr from 23.6 to 25.8 [GPa]. The friction coefficients and fatigue limits of the layers were 0.388, 0.031, respectively.
