우유(牛乳)의 잔류항생물질(殘溜抗生物質)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Studies on Antibiotic Residues in Cow Milk)

  • The antibiotics are usually used for the medical treatments or the other purpose for cow and almost of them are transfered to milk. Moreover a serious problems on public health are caused by misuse or overuse of antibiotics. These studies were conducted to determine the rise and fall of antibiotics in the raw milk which is milked from the cow treated with antibiotics. The number of samples examined were 500 which were taken from 36 cows, and the antibiotics in milk were detected by cylinder plate assay method. The results were as follows: 1) When penicillin, chloramphenycol and streptomycin were infused into a udder, they were detected up to the period of 84 hours, 36 hours and 60 hours after injection in the milk from the same udder, however in the milk from the other udder streptomycin was not detected but penicillin and chloramphenycol were detected up to 72 hours and 24 hours after injection. When streptomycin and penicillin were injected intramusculary, streptomycin was not detected in the milk but penicillin was detected up to 60 hours after injcetion. 2) When penicillin, streptomycin and chloramphenycol were infused into the udder, the lesser amount of milk was produced, the more antibiotics were detected in the milk. 3) It is necessary policy for the public health to inhibit to be sold the milk up to 3 days or more after the injection on antibiotics or to add food blue to mastitis drugs.

Dairy cow and calf behavior and productivity when maintained together on a pasture-based system

  • Objective: We determined the impact of maintaining pasture-based dairy cows and calves together over 100 days on cow milk production, cow and calf behavior, and calf liveweight and carcass quality. Methods: Six Holstein-Friesian cows and their male calves were monitored for 106±8.6 days. Cows were temporarily separated twice a day for milking with calves remaining in the paddock. Cow and calf behaviors were recorded via scan sampling at 6 different timepoints, for the first 7 days and twice a week thereafter. Calves were weighed weekly and immediately processed for meat quality and rumen development analysis at 106±8.6 days. Daily cow milk yields were collected from enrollment until 109±8.6 days (3 days post-weaning). Results: The average daily gain of calves was 1.4±0.73 kg/d, with an average carcass dressing percentage of 59%. Calves had the greatest frequency of observed close proximity to cow and suckling in the first two weeks and decreased with experiment duration. During separation for milking, cow vocalizations and attempts to return to their calf decreased over time. Reticulorumen weight was on target for calf age, but as a proportion of total stomach weight was lower than industry averages of calves the same age due to the larger abomasum. Cows produced an average of 12±7.6 kg of milk yield per day over the 3-days before the calves were weaned and increased to mean of 31±8.3 kg/d the 3 days after weaning, indicating a consumption of close to 20 kg per calf per day. Conclusion: The impact of a pasture-based cow-calf rearing system on cow and calf behavior and the potential for high levels of calf liveweight gain when provided ad-libitum milk and feed were determined. Further research is required to determine the practicality of replicating such systems with large herds and impact on reared calves post-weaning.

산양유의 특성 및 국내 이용 현황 (Characteristics of Goat Milk and Current Utilizing Trends in Korea)

  • Goat milk is digested better than cow milk, because the fat globules in goat milk are smaller and the protein is similar to human milk, and assimilated easily. Goat milk is particularly rich in taurine (4.7mg/100mL) and retinol (40mg/100mL). Therefore, it might be recommened to heal dyspepsia and infants allergy by cow milk. However, during winter, supply of goat milk products are unsteady in Korea, because unbalance of demand and supply is resulted from seasonal breeding. Dairy industry for goat milk will be able to grow much more, if goat milk products can keep steady supply without changing by season. This review includes the physicochemical characteristics of goat milk, domestic production of goat milk, domestic goat milk products and future development.

우유 과민성 장병증(cow's milk-sensitive enteropathy)의 장기 추적관찰 (A Follow-Up Study of Cow's Milk-Sensitive Enteropathy: Clinical Outcome)

  • 목 적: 우유 과민성 장병증(cow's milk-sensitive enteropathy, CMSE)은 글루텐 과민성 장병증과는 달리 일시적인 질환으로 알려져 있다. CMSE의 장기 추적관찰을 통하여 우유 및 타 음식에 대한 내성 시기, 발현 증상, 알레르기 질환 동반 유무, 가족력 등을 파악하여 환자에 대한 예후설명, 수유방법의 변화시기와 이유식의 이용 등 향후 식이 조절에 대한 지침을 마련하고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 대상 및 방법: 1992년 3월부터 1997년 3월까지 대구가톨릭대학병원 소아과에서 성장장애와 설사를 주소로 내원하여, 우유 유발 및 제거시험, 소장 생검조직의 형태학적 계측을 통하여 CMSE로 진단받은 후 추적 관찰과 전화 설문이 가능하였던 21명을 대상으로 하였다. 입원당시 연령은 $30.7{\pm}8.8$ (18~47)일, 설문당시는 $43.4{\pm}23.7$ (16~84)개월이였다. 생후 6개월까지는 절대적으로 단백가수 분해물을 수유하게 하였으며, 추후 2개월 간격으로 유발시험을 시행하는 치료 계획서를 작성 이용하였다. 결 과: 1) 우유를 먹여도 내성을 보였던 최종 연령은 $12.6{\pm}3.7$ (6~24)개월이었다. 2) 나이에 적합한 식이 가능한 모든 식품에 내성을 보였던 연령은 $15.5{\pm}3.7$ (10~24)개월이었다. 3) 우유 유발시험에 따라 관찰된 유해반응 19회 중 구토(31%), 설사(31%), 보챔 혹은 기면(21%), 발진(10%), 복부팽만(5%)의 증세를 보였다. 4) 입원당시 혈중 IgE와 우유 RAST에 양성을 보인 5명과 음성을 보였던 16명을 비교하여 우유 및 타 식품에 대한 내성 시기(p>0.05), 타 알레르기 질환의 발현 유무, 알레르기 가족력에서 의미 있는 차이가 관찰되지 않았다. 결 론: CMSE는 2세 이내에 임상적으로 완전한 회복을 보인다. 우유에 대하여 61%에서 1세까지, 전례에서 2세 전까지 내성을 보여 영유아기의 일시적 질환으로 판단된다. 타 식품에 대한 알레르기 발현은 특정 음식보다는 개인에 따른 다양한 음식물에서 발생하며, 전례에서 2세까지 내성을 보인다. 진단 당시 우유 RAST, 혈중 IgE의 상승과 우유 및 타 식품에 대한 내성의 발현 시기와는 무관하다.

AN ASSESSMENT OF FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY OF DAIRY FARMS IN FIJI

  • A survey of physical inputs was conducted on the total population of dairy farms supplying milk to the Rewa cooperative dairy company in Fiji. The critical inputs associated with total farm milk production were determined using multiple regression, with analyses being conducted for each of the three identified supplier groups, bulk milk, canned milk and cream. Mean annual milk production per cow averaged 1460 (s.d. = 319), 889 (s.d. = 321) and 800 (s.d. = 451) litres for the bulk milk, canned milk and cream suppliers respectively. Stocking rate averaged 1.37 (s.d. = 1.18) cows per hectare over all farms. Inputs to pasture were universally low and Navua sedge (Cyperus aromaticus) was identified as a major weed. The average amount of supplement fed annually on a grain equivalent basis was 700 (s.d. = 984) kg per cow for bulk milk, 84 (s.d. = 198) kg per cow for canned milk and 146 (s.d. = 542) kg per cow for cream suppliers. The analysis of data from a small group of farms using nitrogen fertiliser indicated that their production levels were higher than the general population. This suggests that there is potential for the Fijian dairy industry to increase milk production through the use of higher inputs to cows and pastures. The regression models relating annual milk production from farms to the two key inputs of number of cows milked and the amount of supplement fed were all significant (p < 0.001). The coefficients of determination for these models ranged from 56.9 to 89.4 percent.

GLC를 이용한 마유의 지방산 조성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fatty Acid Composition of Mare Milk using GLC)

  • 마유의 지방은 적은 양의 stearic acid과 palmitoleic acid를 가지고 있으며 반면에 많은 양의 linolenic acid과 linolic acid를 가지고 있다. 마유와 우유의 지방산을 비교하였을 때, oleic acid (C18:1)의 양은 차이가 없었으며, 불포화 지방산 성분인 linoleic acid와 linolenic acid은 마유가 우유에 비해 상대적으로 높았으며 마유 크림에서의 linoleic acid (C18:2) 는 우유보다 약 7배, linolenic acid (C18:3)은 약 50배 높은 것을 관찰하였다. 마유와 우유의 시료를 기간별로 실험한 결과 마유의 시료를 채취한 후 45일 동안 linoleic acid와 linolenic acid를 우유와 비교하였을 때 매우 높게 유지되었으며 이 결과 음식물로만 섭취할 수 있는 이 두 성분이 에너지원, 산소공급원으로 매우 유용하게 작용한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • The present study was conducted to examine the effect of recombinant bovine somatotrpin(${\gamma}$BST), which was administered to cow to promote milk production, on bST levels in milk. Fourteen cows were divided cows were divided into two groups: 1) control cows received neither ${\gamma}$bST nor vehicle, 2) treated cows were administered twice at two-week interval with 500 mg ${\gamma}$bST each cow byj after lst injection. Milk samples were taken on day 0 (prior to injection), day 7 (7 days after lst injection), day 21 (7 days after 2nd injection) and day 35 (21 days after 2nd injection). Milk bST concentration was measured by the radioimmunoassay method. There was no statistical difference(p<0.05) in milk bST levels between two groups showing bST levels in the range of 1.8 ng/m/ to 3.1 ng/m/. That is, ${\gamma}$bST administration did not increase bST levels in milk.

Supplementation with Selenium and Vitamin E Improves Milk Fat Depression and Fatty Acid Composition in Dairy Cows Fed Fat Diet

  • This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplementing a fat diet with selenium (Se) and vitamin E on performance of cows, blood antioxidant status and milk fatty acid composition. Sixty-three lactating Holstein cows were randomly divided into seven groups of nine cows each and each group was fed one of the following diets: i) a basal diet (control); ii) a basal diet with 0.15 mg Se/kg DM (LSe); iii) a basal diet with 0.3 mg Se/kg DM (HSe); iv) a basal diet with 5,000 IU/cow d vitamin E (LVE); v) a basal diet with 10,000 IU/cow d vitamin E (HVE); vi) a basal diet with 0.15 mg Se/kg DM and 5,000 IU/cow d vitamin E (LSeVE); vii) a basal diet with 0.3 mg Se/kg DM and 10,000 IU/cow d vitamin E (HSeVE). Milk fat percentage and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) yield in HVE and HSeVE diets increased (p<0.05) compared with the control diet. In milk fat, dietary supplementation of Se tended to increase the proportion of the sum of unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) and significantly decreased (p<0.05) the proportion of the sum of saturated fatty acids (SFA). In addition, compared with the control, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) content was lower and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) was higher when fat diets were supplemented with Se. Our data showed that supplementation with Se and/or VE improved these nutrients in blood and milk. The results indicated that fat diets supplemented with Se improved both antioxidant status in blood and fatty acids in milk fat, and fat diets supplemented with vitamin E alleviated milk fat depression. Therefore, the combination of Se and vitamin E caused synergistic effects on the nutritional quality of milk fat and performance of cows fed a fat diet.

EFFECT OF FEEDING LEGUME FORAGE WITH STRAW SUPPLEMENTATION ON MILK PRODUCTION AT PABNA MILK SHED AREA

  • An experiment was conducted at Pabna milkshed area under Bathan condition during November, 1992 to February 1993 with 16 milking cows fed legume forage with straw supplementation (treated group) and 8 milking cows fed legume forage only (control group). From the study, the results revealed that supplementation of straw with leguminous diet increases the total dry matter intake (DMI) of 11.83 kg/d/cow for the treated group and 11.53 kg/d/cow for the control group. The average daily legume forage intake was $37.39{\pm}8.67kg/d/cow$ and $49.62{\pm}10.57kg/d/cow$ for the treated and control group respectively and the difference was significant (p < 0.05). The results also exhibited that due to the supplementation of straw, the legume forage intake reduced by 12 kg/d/cow. The forage dry matter intake (DMI) kg/d/cow for the treated and control groups were $6.18{\pm}1.44kg$ and $8.38{\pm}1.95kg$ respectively. The milk production was $8.64{\pm}1.15litre/day$ for the treated group which was significantly (p < 0.05) higher than the control group ($7.74{\pm}1.24litre/day$). The average initial body weight of the supplemented and control groups were $338.06{\pm}39.32kg$ and $329.87{\pm}48.03kg$ respectively. Whereas, the final body weight of supplemented group was $344.33{\pm}35.90kg$ and control group was $330.35{\pm}37.28kg$. It may be concluded that straw supplementation with legumes diet could save legume forage for further use as well as increase milk production.

Near Infrared Spectroscopy for Diagnosis: Influence of Mammary Gland Inflammation on Cow´s Milk Composition Measurement

  • Nowadays, medical diagnostics is efficiently supported by clinical chemistry and near infrared spectroscopy is becoming a new dimension, which has shown high potential to provide valuable information for diagnosis. The investigation was carried out to study the influence of mammary gland inflammation, called mastitis, on cow´s milk spectra and milk composition measured by near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Milk somatic cell counts (SCC) in milk were used as a measure of mammary gland inflammation. Naturally occurred variations with milk composition within lactation and in the process of milking were included in the experimental design of this study. Time series of unhomogenized, raw milk spectral data were collected from 3 cow along morning and evening milking, for 5 consecutive months, within their second lactation. In the time of the trial, the investigated cows had periods with mammary gland inflammation. Transmittance spectra of 258 milk samples were obtained by NIRSystem 6500 spectrophotometer in 1100-2400 nm region. Calibration equations for the examined milk components were developed by PLS regression using 3 different sets of samples: samples with low somatic cell count (SCC), samples with high SCC and combined data set. The NIR calibration and prediction of individual cow´s milk fat, protein, and lactose were highly influenced by the presence of mil samples from animals with mammary gland inflammation in the data set. The best accuracy of prediction (i.e. the lower SEP and the higher correlation coefficient) for fat, protein and lactose was obtained for equations, developed when using only “healthy” samples, with low SCC. The standard error of prediction increased and correlation coefficient decreased significantly when equations for low SCC milk were used to predict examined components in “mastitis” samples with high SCC, and vice versa. Combined data set that included samples from healthy and mastitis animals could be used to build up regression models for screening. Further use of separate model for healthy samples improved milk composition measurement. Regression vectors for NIR mild protein measurement obtained for “healthy” and “mastitic” group were compared and revealed differences in 1390-1450 nm, 1500-1740 nm and 1900-2200 nm regions and thus illustrated post-secretory breakdown of milk proteins by hydrolytic enzymes that occurred with mastitis. For the first time it has been found that monitoring the spectral differences in water bands at 1440 nm and 1912 nm could provide valuable information for inflammation diagnosis.
