The market for eco-friendly food materials by online distribution is rapidly growing due to major environmental pollution such as air, soil, and water quality, and radical changes in living patterns caused by COVID-19. In addition, because of the aging population and the decrease in agricultural-related population due to social structural changes, aquaponics is emerging as a system that can solve problems such as independence of old economic activities, environmental protection, and securing healthy and safe food. This paper aims to design an intelligent plant growth measurement system among intelligent aquaponics production management modules for optimal growth environment derivation and quantitative production prediction by converging various ICT technologies into existing aquaponics systems. In particular, the focus is on designing systems suitable for production sites that do not have high-performance processing resources, and we propose a module configuration plan for production environments and training data and prediction systems.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the normalization of mask-wearing worldwide, and young children are particularly vulnerable to respiratory diseases. Children's masks come in various sizes and shapes, causing confusion among consumers who struggle to find products that can accommodate their child's unique physical conditions. This research aims to analyze the shape and dimensions of health masks designed for young children. A total of 67 mask varieties were collected, and 58 were subjected to analysis. The masks were found to have two primary shapes: foldable and beak-like, with sizes categorized as small and extra-small. The majority of masks were manufactured in Korea, and the size labeling systems varied among manufacturers. The mask materials were non-woven fabric or polypropylene, and there was diversity in terms of the adjustable earbands and the use of additional accessories. The dimensions of the masks varied depending on their shape, with significant differences in the weight and the length of the wire holes. Subsequent research should focus on conducting wearability evaluations to verify the dimensional suitability of commercially available children's health masks based on shape and size. Additionally, this study aims to provide foundational data that can assist in the development of children's masks with size ranges that differentiate them from adult masks and cater to specific age groups.
For a long time, mathematics education institutions such as NCTM(National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) have emphasized the essential role of writing, and recent surveys by the Ministry of Education report a decline in foundational academic skills in the post-COVID19 period. The purpose of this study is to redefine the significance of mathematics writing in mathematics education, focusing on competencies highlighted in the field, particularly in the areas of problem-solving, communication, and reasoning. The research findings indicate that writing in problem-solving enhances cognitive organization, fostering the ability to grasp concepts and methods. Writing in communication builds confidence through the meta-cognitive process, and writing in inference allows self-awareness of step-by-step identification of areas lacking understanding. Particularly in the future society where artificial intelligence(AI) is utilized, changes in the learning environment necessitate research for the establishment of authenticity judgment through writing and the cultivation of a proper writing culture.
Background: The purpose of this study was to comparison of learning attitude, class satisfaction, and self-regulated learning ability of face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes in college physical therapy students to improve the educational effect and quality of non-face-to-face classes when face-to-face classes such as COVID-19 become inevitable in the future. Design: Cross-section study. Methods: This study was conducted with 91 college students, 3rd year students of physical therapy department at a community college in 'A' region, Gyeongsangbuk-do, who took face-to-face classes in the first semester of 2022 and non-face-to-face classes in 2021 of the previous semester. Results: Class attitude was higher in face-to-face classes than in non-face-to-face classes. There was a significant difference in class satisfaction between face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes, In self-regulated learning ability, face-to-face classes had a more positive effect on self-regulated learning ability than non-face-to-face classes. Conclusion: This study serves as empirical basic data on the actual condition of non-face-to-face classes compared to face-to-face classes for college physical therapy students, suggests the direction of future research, and improves the quality of non-face-to-face classes in the field of physical therapy, which requires a lot of practice. and hope it will be used for development.

Human respiratory viral infections such as COVID-19 are highly contagious, so continuous management of airborne viruses is essential. In particular, indoor air monitoring is necessary because the risk of infection increases in poorly ventilated indoors. However, the current method of detecting airborne viruses requires a lot of time from sample collection to confirmation of results. In this study, we proposed a system that can monitor airborne viruses in real time to solve the deficiency of the present method. Air samples were collected in liquid form through a bio sampler, in which case the virus is present in low concentrations. To detect viruses from low-concentration samples, viral RNA was concentrated and extracted using silica-magnetic beads. RNA binds to silica under certain conditions, and by repeating this binding reaction, bulk samples collected from the air can be concentrated. After concentration and extraction, viral RNA is specifically detected through real-time qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction). In addition, based on liquid handling technology, we have developed an automatic machine that automatically performs the entire testing process and can be easily used even by non-experts. To evaluate the system, we performed air sample collection and automated testing using bacteriophage MS2 as a model virus. As a result, the air-collected samples concentrated by 45 times then initial volume, and the detection sensitivity of PCR also confirmed a corresponding improvement.
With the emergence of digitalization and environmental changes, such as those caused by COVID-19 and high-speed networks, online video platforms have changed how people communicate and created new marketing opportunities. The unique characteristics of mobile short-form videos are causing more people to consume and produce diverse content in the digital environment. The study focuses on two story types (product essential and relative information) to examine the effectiveness of short-form videos for fashion marketing. This study verified the influence of the common traits of short-form video content (informativeness, expertise, familiarity, and playfulness) on fun, e-WOM, and purchase intention and the mediation effect of fun using video samples categorized by story type. In this study, 300 Gen Z men and women responded to a survey after watching a 30-second short-form video sample. All the traits of short-form video content were found to have a positive effect on fun. Moreover, all the traits excluding playfulness had a positive effect on e-WOM and purchase intention as well. Fun had a positive effect on both e-WOM and purchase intention as well as a partial mediating effect. These findings are expected to provide insight and reference for planning short-form video marketing from the perspective of the fashion industry.

This study investigates the influence of particulate matter concentrations on the incidence of asthma, focusing on the delayed onset of symptoms and subsequent medical consultations. Analysis incorporates a four-day lag from the initiation of fine dust exposure and compares asthma patterns before and after the World Health Organization's (WHO) classification of fine dust as a Group 1 carcinogen in November 2013. Utilizing daily PM10 data and asthma-related medical visit counts in Seoul from 2008 to 2016, the study additionally incorporates Google search frequencies and newspaper article counts on fine dust to assess public awareness. Results reveal a surge in search frequencies and article publications after WHO announcement, indicating heightened public interest. To standardize the long-term asthma occurrence trend, the daily asthma patient numbers are ratio-adjusted based on annual averages. The analysis uncovers an increase in asthma medical visits 2 to 3 days after fine dust events. Additionally, greater public awareness of fine dust hazards correlates with a significant reduction in asthma occurrence after such events, even within 'normal' fine dust concentrations. Notably, behavioral changes, like limiting outdoor activities, contribute to this decrease. This study highlights the importance of analyzing accumulated medical data over an extended period to identify general public behavioral patterns, deviating from conventional survey methods in social sciences. Future research aims to extend data collection beyond 2016, exploring recent trends and considering the potential impact of decreased fine dust awareness amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Volatility of a time series is defined as the conditional variance on the past information. In particular, for financial time series, volatility is regarded as a time-varying measure of risk for the financial series. To capture the intrinsic asymmetry in the risk of financial series, various asymmetric volatility processes including threshold-ARCH (TARCH, for short) have been proposed in the literature (see, for instance, Choi et al., 2012). This paper proposes a volatility function featuring non-zero origin in which the origin of the volatility is shifted from the zero and therefore the resulting volatility function is certainly asymmetric around zero and achieves the minimum at a non-zero (rather than zero) point. To validate the proposed volatility function, we analyze the Korea stock prices index (KOSPI) time series during the Covid-19 pandemic period for which origin shift to the left of the zero in volatility is shown to be apparent using the minimum AIC as well as via parametric bootstrap verification.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, there is increasing interest in anti-obesity strategies. According to the National Statistical Office, the obesity rate in Korea was 38.3% in 2020 and 37.1% in 2021. Obesity is a risk factor for several severe diseases, including stroke, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Pinus rigida × Pinus taeda is a hybrid of Pinus rigida Mill and Pinus taeda Linn, and its cones are considered a by-product. Although previous studies have investigated their pharmacological effects on antioxidant activity and protection against oxidative DNA damage, few researchers have explored their potential as functional natural materials. Therefore, we evaluated the anti-obesity effects of the cone of ethyl acetate fraction of P. rigida × P. taeda (ERT), specifically its ability to inhibit lipid accumulation. Our analysis showed that ERT contains phytochemicals (catechin and caffeic acid) which are known to improve immune function and inhibit cell damage. ERT inhibited lipid droplet accumulation at the cellular levels through Oil Red O staining. Furthermore, ERT suppressed the expression of adipogenic transcription factors (PPARγ and CEBP/α) as well as downstream lipogenic target genes (FAS and SREBP-1) thereby inhibiting adipogenesis. ERT also down-regulated key adipogenic markers, including aP2α, while inducing the phosphorylation of AMPK. It has been reported that PPARγ and CEBP/α are expressed in the early stages of adipose differentiation, while SREBP-1 is expressed in the late stage. Therefore, our findings suggest that ERT activates AMPK signaling pathways, which inhibits adipogenic transcription factors (PPARγ, C/EBPα, and SREBP1) and lipogenic genes (FAS and aP2α), thereby blocking lipid accumulation and preventing obesity and related disorders. ERT showed potential as a new resource for developing a functional material for anti-obesity agents.
