  • As to the synthetical estimation of land covering parameters or the compounded land covering classification for multi-resolution satellite data, former researches mainly adopted linear or nonlinear regression models to describe the regression relationship of land covering parameters caused by the degradation of spatial resolution, in order to improve the retrieval accuracy of global land covering parameters based on 1;he lower resolution satellite data. However, these methods can't authentically represent the complementary characteristics of spatial resolutions among different satellite data at arithmetic level. To resolve the problem above, a new compounded land covering classification method at arithmetic level for multi-resolution satellite data is proposed in this .paper. Firstly, on the basis of unsupervised clustering analysis of the higher resolution satellite data, the likelihood distribution scatterplot of each cover type is obtained according to multiple-to-single spatial correspondence between the higher and lower resolution satellite data in some local test regions, then Parzen window approach is adopted to derive the real likelihood functions from the scatterplots, and finally the likelihood functions are extended from the local test regions to the full covering area of the lower resolution satellite data and the global covering area of the lower resolution satellite is classified under the maximum likelihood rule. Some experimental results indicate that this proposed compounded method can improve the classification accuracy of large-scale lower resolution satellite data with the support of some local-area higher resolution satellite data.

  • This study was conducted to provide design data for deciding covering method in double layers greenhouse. The variation of photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) and heat flow in air inflated and conventional double layers greenhouse was analyzed. The PPF of air inflated double covering greenhouse was less than that of conventional greenhouse during summer season because the more PPF comes into conventional greenhouse through roof vent which was rolled up for ventilation. The air inflated double layers covering greenhouse was superior to conventional type in the aspect of controlling inside temperature down owing to lower irradiation. The PPF of air inflated greenhouse was greater than that of conventional greenhouse during winter season because the transmittance of conventional greenhouse decreased by dust collected on inside plastic film nearly closed for insulation. Considering the PPF not sufficient for tomato growing in winter, the air inflated double covering system with the greater transmittance was better than conventional covering system. When the inside air of air inflated greenhouse was injected into space between the double layers of covering, the PPF of air inflated greenhouse was much less than the conventional greenhouse because the transmittance of air inflated double covering decreased due to condensation of highly humidified inside air. It was concluded that the more dried outside air should be used for inflating double layers covering. The heat insulation performance of air inflated double covering system was superior to conventional double covering system when comparing the overall heat transfer coefficients for each covering method. However the differences among the overall heat transfer coefficients depending on difference between inside and outside temperatures of greenhouse were great, it is necessary to conduct additional experiment for investigating the overall heat transfer coefficient to design the double layers covering.

  • Error detection and correction using CRC and the general class of cyclic codes is an important part of designing reliable data transmission schemes. The decoding method for cyclic codes using covering patterns is easily-implementable, and its complexity de-pends on the number of covering patterns employed. Determination of the minimal set of covering patterns for a given code is an open problem. In this paper, an efficient search method for constructing minimal sets of covering patterns is proposed and compared with several existing search methods. The result is applicable to various codes of practical interest.

  • To determine none top soil covering in rice seedling nursery method for the sparse machine transplanting, four different sowing methods were tested. Shoot and root length, fresh weight, leaf number and color using leaf color chart(LCC) and SPAD were collected as the data comparison of methods. The seedling height showed the highest growth according to the conventional (230g seed rate of pre-emerged seeds and top-soil covering) > high sowing density 1 (290g seed rate of pre-emerged seeds and top-soil covering) ≥ high sowing density 2(290g seed rate of pre-emerged seeds and none top-soil covering) > high sowing density 3(290g seed rate of iron-coated seeds and none top-soil covering). There was any statistical difference between groups in root length, leaf number, LCC, and SPAD values. Thus, a high sowing density of 290g for rice nursery seedling box was recommended to the sparse machine transplanting in rice cultivation with the none top-soil covering method, enabling convenient handling in transportation and machine transplanting work.

  • In this study, in order to develop a method to efficiently inject essential nutrients necessary for plant growth into wood chips, which are simply used as soil covering materials in the agriculture, landscaping and horticultural industries, the atmospheric pressure dipping method and the vacuum pressure impregnating method are used to improve the plant nutrients injectability and impregnation amount were comparatively analyzed. Nutrient ingredients and 8 major heavy metal contents of wood chips injected with nutrients were analyzed, and soil covering effects were examined by covering wood chips injected with nutrients on soil. Comparing the dipping method and the vacuum pressure impregnation method, it took about 48 hours or more to inject 1,500 g or more of the nutrient aqueous solution into 1 kg of wood chips in the dipping method, but the vacuum pressure impregnation method could be impregnated in about 5 minutes. Components of the impregnated nutrients were detected in proportion to the diluted concentration. As a result of covering the wood chips developed in this study on soil, they showed weakly acidic pH, and the heat insulation and moisturizing effects during the winter season were evaluated to be superior to those of uncovered soil. In the future, wood chips impregnated with nutrients are expected to contribute to the more efficient use of waste wood resources and the long-term supply of nutrients essential for plant growth, reducing excessive use of chemical fertilizers and reducing costs.

  • Set covering has widely been accepted as a staple tool for feature selection in data mining. We present a generalized version of this classical combinatorial optimization model to make it better suited for the purpose and propose a surrogate relaxation-based procedure for its meta-heuristic solution. Mathematically and also numerically with experiments on 25 set covering instances, we demonstrate the utility of the proposed model and the proposed solution method.

The results of analysizing the investigated data summarize as follows. 1. In the ground covering plots without upper layer, the density and coverage of middle and low layer in the natural plots were higher than those in the artificial plots. 2. In the ground covering plots without upper layer, the density and coverage of low layer were higher than those in the artificial, while the density and coverage of herb layer in the natural plots were lower. 3. Whether there was upper layer or not, the total species diversity and enenness of the ground covering community in the natural plot without artificial treatment and natural treatment plot were higher than those ground covering. 4. In the ground covering plots with upper layer, the species diversity of ground covering in the plots without artificial treatment is high, while the species diversity in the plots with natural treatment caused the secondary succession is higher than that of the natural plot. 5. In the ground covering plots without upper layer, the species diversity in the plots with artificial management was higher than that of natural plots, while the evenness in the plots with artificial management was lower. 6. In the ground covering plots with upper layer the species diversity of insect in the plot of natural state was higher than that of insect in the plots with artifical treatment. 7. Synthetically, in the area with upper layer the species diversity of the ground covering community in the natural plot was high, while in the area without upper layer, the species diversity of it in the plots with artificial treatment was high. The insect turned up frequently in the plots of high species diversity of the ground covering, so the bird did in the plots of high species diversity of the ground covering and insects.

  • In this paper, we dealt with feature selection problem of large-scale and high-dimensional biological data such as omics data. For this problem, most of the previous approaches used simple score function to reduce the number of original variables and selected features from the small number of remained variables. In the case of methods that do not rely on filtering techniques, they do not consider the interactions between the variables, or generate approximate solutions to the simplified problem. Unlike them, by combining set covering and clustering techniques, we developed a new method that could deal with total number of variables and consider the combinatorial effects of variables for selecting good features. To demonstrate the efficacy and effectiveness of the method, we downloaded gene expression datasets from TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) and compared our method with other algorithms including WEKA embeded feature selection algorithms. In the experimental results, we showed that our method could select high quality features for constructing more accurate classifiers than other feature selection algorithms.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the High Functional Covering machine and the Compound Twister to produce the high value added textile goods and to meet the consumer's needs. For the study, 8 yarns and 12 fabrics were made with two developed machines and the tensile characteristics of the samples were tested and analysed. The result indicated that the sample fabrics kept their elongation regardless of buffering process. Elongation of the sample yarns was higher than those of yarns made with a traditional covering method. Elastic recovery of the sample fabrics was more effected by the recovery rate than by the number of extension and the characteristics of the sample yarns and fabrics were comparable to the yarns and fabrics made with a traditional covering method in terms of the position of Spandex yarns in their yarn structure and buffering effect.
