  • This study develops triacetate-containing functional fabrics with a cool-touch and cool-absorbent. For this purpose we used composite yarns made using triacetate filament and PET High absorbance quick dry filament as well as the composite fabric woven. The fineness of the yarn and structure of fabric varied the cover factor varied. The blend ratio of triacetate was differently set. When the triacetate content was the same, the cool touch of the fabric having a large cover factor and small SMD increased. The surface became smooth and the contact area became large; in addition, both the Qmax value and the cool-touch became large. In the case of similar density, the cool-touch of the fabric having a large content of triacetate increased. The cool-absorbent of the fabric containing triacetate showed a similar level of the PET High absorbance quick dry filament fabric treated with and endothermic cooling agent. It was possible to develop a functional coolness fabric with a cool-touch and a cool-absorbent when the content of triacetate and cover factor were well combined.

  • This paper examined the water repellency, water proofing and water vapor permeability of twelve types of woven fabrics for sports wear clothing. Their physical properties were compared and discussed with the fabric structural parameters and surface finishing effect. A water repellent property of 100% was obtained in the coated or laminated water repellent finished fabrics; in addition, cotton/nylon breathable composite fabrics treated with a laminated finishing and with low fabric density showed a 90% water repellency. Water proofing fabric above 6,000 mm H2O hydraulic pressure was achieved by coated or laminated finishing; however, high density fabric or medium-level coated fabrics exhibited 100% water repellent and low water proofing characteristics. Superior water vapor permeability characteristics with good water repellency and proofing properties were achieved at the 2.5 layered low density and with 0.7 - 0.9 cover factor nylon fabrics treated with hydrophilic laminated finishing. The regression analysis for examining the effects of fabric structural parameters and surface finishing such as coating and laminating to the water vapor permeability exhibited a high determination coefficient of fabric structural parameters of 63.5%; in addition,, main factors among fabric structural parameters appeared to be cover factor and fabric thickness per weight. Coating and Laminating factors exhibited determination coefficient of water vapor permeability parameters of 36.5%.

  • Estimation of future land cover based on climate change scenarios is an important factor in climate change impact assessment and adaptation policy. This study estimated future land cover considering Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP) using Scenario Generators. Based on the storylines of SSP1-3, future population and estimated urban area were adopted for the transition matrix, which contains land cover change trends of each land cover class. In addition, limits of land cover change and proximity were applied as spatial data. According to the estimated land cover maps from SSP1-3 in 2030, 2050, and 2100, respectively, urban areas near a road were expanded, but agricultural areas and forests were gradually decreased. More drastic urban expansion was seen in SSP3 compared to SSP1 and SSP2. These trends are similar with previous research with regard to storyline, but the spatial results were different. Future land cover can be easily adjusted based on this approach, if econometric forecasts for each land cover class added. However, this requires determination of econometric forecasts for each land cover class.

  • The Vegetation cover is a significant factor to comprehend characteristics of the ground surface for meterological and hydrological models, which measure energy in the atmosphere or predict the runoff of ground surface. Deardorff introduced vegetation cover fraction to quantitatively comprehend the vegetation cover in 1978. After Deardorff, most of previous researches were conducted on low-resolution or high-resolution images, but only few researches on Landsat that are in medium-resolution images. Therefore, this study aims to investigate a way of calculating the vegetation cover fraction by using NDVI of Landsat images, which were hardly handled previously. For accurate vegetation cover fraction, we compared the evaluated parameters from this study with past vegetation cover fraction parameters that have been calculated for using NDVI of Landsat OLI images. The result of research was shown that NDVI is quite correlated with the vegetation fraction cover in the previous researches. In fact, RMSE of vegetation cover fraction values that obtained through the suggested parameters on this study showed the highest accuracy of 7.3% among all the cases.

  • This paper examined the garment formability and appearance of perspiration absorption, fast dry, and breathable fabrics. The mechanical properties and seam pucker properties of these fabrics were measured and regression analysis was conducted between fabric structural parameters and their mechanical and seam pucker properties. The superior total appearance value (TAV) of fast dry knitted fabrics for sports-wear was achieved in fabrics with high extensibility and bending rigidity; consequently, it increased with increasing stitch density and tightness factor. The formability of the fast dry knitted fabric also improved with an increasing stitch density and tightness factor. The seam pucker was influenced by bending rigidity and a good seam pucker was exhibited in the fast dry knitted fabrics with low stitch density and tightness factor. However, the formability (F) of the breathable fabric improved by increasing extensibility and bending rigidity that decreased with an increasing cover factor and the thickness of the breathable fabric. In addition, seam pucker deteriorated with an increasing cover factor and the thickness of the breathable fabric, which was similar to the results of the formability predicted in fabric mechanical properties. A superior seam pucker was achieved in fabrics with high extensibility and low bending rigidity.

  • The cylinder cover stud for assembling the combustion chamber components of low-speed marine diesel engine is one of the main structural components in engine. To understand the structural behavior of the stud is quite important for safe and economic design of it. In this paper, the structural behavior and design adequacy of the stud have been evaluated through strain measurement and structural analysis for the world's two largest engine types. Moreover, a feasibility study for design modification was carried out based on fatigue test and calculation. The results showed that 1) the stud experiences very high stress ratio under normal operating conditions, 2) the fatigue strength of the stud is sufficient, and 3) results from strain measurement and structural analysis were quite close each other.

  • This article aims to determine the interrelation among exfoliation strength, the repeated laundry number, the coefficient of friction and the cover factor about the fusible interlining produced by using different amount resin. The practicality of stiffness and warmth of the fusible interling were examined. The results are summarized as follows: 1) As a factor that affecting the exfoliation strength of fusible interlining, the coefficient of friction and the cover factor about the fusible interlining produced by using different amount resin. (2) Regardless of the weight of the resin, the exfoliation strength of fusible interlining declined gradually as the repeated laundry number increased. This tendency arises much more in the case of the filament yarn fabric than in that of the spun yarn fabric. The stability of the exfoliation strength was better, regardless of the increase of the repeated laundry number, when the weight of the weight of the resin was 10 g/$m^2$. (3) The spun yarn fabric, which has more fuzz than the filament yarn fabric, is more suitable for the fabric of fusible interlining. The smaller the cover factor difference between the face cloth and the interlining cloth, the stronger the exfoliation strength. (4) When the stability of the shape is a necessary factor in the consumption of the fusible interlining, a resin weight of 20 g/$m^2$ is the most suitable; however when stiffness and warmth are necessary factors, a resin weight of 10 g/$m^2$ is the most suitable.

  • Suppose that G is a finite group and H is a subgroup of G. H is said to be an ss-quasinormal subgroup of G if there is a subgroup B of G such that G = HB and H permutes with every Sylow subgroup of B; H is said to be semi-p-cover-avoiding in G if there is a chief series 1 = $G_0$ < $G_1$ < ${\cdots}$ < $G_t=G$ of G such that, for every i = 1, 2, ${\ldots}$, t, if $G_i/G_{i-1}$ is a p-chief factor, then H either covers or avoids $G_i/G_{i-1}$. We give the structure of a finite group G in which some subgroups of G with prime-power order are either semi-p-cover-avoiding or ss-quasinormal in G. Some known results are generalized.

  • This paper develops the compliance approach to the problem of load sharing between a cracked plate and a cover plate used to bridge the crack. The theory is validated by using calculated stress intensity factors for the covered and uncovered cases and by using stop hole method to reduce experimentally observed growth rates to a common base. Calculations are then made on the effect of cover plate width on fatigue crack retardation in order to demonstrate the predictive capability of the technique.
