  • In this paper, we designed the cylindrical type light source that had a electromagnetic principle of inductively coupled plasma, and measured its electrical-optical properties. Using the principle of transformer, electrically equivalent circuit of cylindrical type light source was analyzed. According to the parameters of electromagnetic induction which were diameter of coil with $0.3\~1.2\;mm{\Phi}$, number of turns with $4\~12$ turns, distance with $40\~120$ mm and RF power with $10\~150$ W, the electrical and optical properties were measured. When diameter of coil was $0.3\;mm{\Phi}$, number of turns was 8 turns and distance was 40 mm, the highest brightness of 29,730 $cd/m^2$ was shown with RF power 150 W. The relationship between electromagnetic induction and plasma discharges was shown by mode transition from E-mode to H-mode.

  • In this paper, a dual-mode balanced filter with symmetric coupled composite right/left-handed transmission line is introduced. Unlike the other symmetric structure, this configuration has the ability to operate under both common- and differential-mode excitation. These properties are achievable through providing physical short circuit by means of ground vias at the center of each unit-cell along the symmetry plane of the structure. Because the CRLH unit-cells are operated under both common- and differential-mode excitation, we implemented a balanced filter using these properties. To validity these features, a five-cell four port coupled CRLH-TL is simulated, fabricated and measured and the obtained performances agree with the simulation results under both common- and differential-mode excitation.

  • In this paper, a coupled-line type waveguide bandpass filter is newly proposed. The proposed bandpass filter configuration consists of magnetically coupled waveguide cavities. In order to show the background of the proposed waveguide bandpass filter, the general coupled line TEM bandpass filter theory, which means the coupled line filter with arbitrary coupled line length and impedance level, will be briefly introduced. Calculations for the even- and odd-mode wave impedance of a coupled line waveguide structure are achieved based on the normalized impedance concept for a broad-side coupled waveguides by using vector finite element method(VFEM) calculation. Measured result of an implemented coupled-line type waveguide filter is presented.

  • In this paper, a novel theory of realizing the series capacitor with broadside coupled suspended substrate stripline (BCSSS) is proposed. The proposed theory is relatively simple because the method of odd mode analysis is only applied: However, this theory supplies reliable result by considering the line effective width and end effect caused by the fringing field. The simulation results are presented to compare and analyze the characteristics of the ideal lumped capacitor and the coupled line capacitor. Also, the capacitive gap coupled line band-pass filter based on the proposed theory are designed and fabricated. The results prove successfully the validity of the proposed theory.

  • In practical applications of guided wave techniques, it is very important but also difficult to identify the propagating modes, and it is preferred to generate and detect a single or less dispersive mode. Also the noncontact method is required in the automated field application. So this paper considers a non-contact guided wave technique with enhanced mode-selectivity, where a laser beam illuminated through arrayed line slits is used as the transmitter and the air-coupled transducer is used as the receiver. The line arrayed laser illumination is a wavelength matching technique that ran generate only a few modes. The air-coupled transducer detects the leaky wave of the propagated guided wave, and by tuning its detection angle we ran detect the selected single mode. Experimental results for a 1mm thick aluminum plate proved the usefulness of the proposed method, and especially it was shown that this method was powerful in the generation and detection of the $a_0$ mode.

  • In this paper, the incoherent reverberation model based on coupled normal mode method is presented. In the range dependent environment, one way coupled normal mode method is used to calculate the pressure from a source to a scatterer patch and the pressure from a scatterer patch to a receiver. For the computational efficiency, the sound propagation from a source/receiver to the scatterer patch is assumed to occur only in the 2D plane where a source/receiver and scatterer patch are located. For the model verification, problems of the reverberation modeling workshop I and II sponsored by the US office of Naval Research are calculated and the results are compared with the incoherent reverberation model results based on the ray method.

  • As the feature size of integrated circuits continues to decrease, the challenge of achieving an oxidation-free exposed layer after photoresist (PR) stripping is becoming a critical issue for semiconductor device fabrication. In this article, the hydrogen plasma characteristics in direct plasma and the PR stripping rate in remote plasma were studied using a $120{\Phi}$ cylindrical inductively coupled plasma source. E mode, H mode and E-H mode transitions were observed, which were defined by matching the $V_{rms}$ and total impedance. In addition, the dependence of the E-H mode transition on pressure was examined and the corresponding plasma instability regions were identified. The plasma density and electron temperature increased gradually under the same process conditions. In contrast, the PR stripping rate decreased with increasing proportion of $H_2$ gas in mixed $H_2/N_2$ plasma. The decrease in concentration of reactive radicals for the removal of PR with increasing $H_2$ gas flow rate suggests that NH radicals have a dominant effect as the main volatile product.

  • Theoretical analysis Is carried out to identify the modal coupling effect between some particular acoustic modes of a vehicle compartment cavity and vibration modes of body panels like side doors, roof or floor. A simplified panel-cavity coupled model is investigated on the coupled resonance frequencies, modes and frequency response characteristics. Through parametric study, It Is possible to explain how the acoustic response of a coupled system will be determined by the vibration and acoustic property of the individual panel and cavity system. Full coupled system shows some interesting features different from those of the semi-coupled system In frequency, mode and acoustic response.

  • Dispersion characteristics of shielded single, coupled and edge-offset microstrip structures are investigated by using hybrid mode analysis with Galerkin's method in the spectral domain. Two new basis functions for the longitudinal strip current are proposed and convergence rates of the solutions for the basis functions are compared. Current distribution of the coupled line is obtaind from that of the single line by using shift theorem of the Fourier transform. In addition, effects of off-centered inner strip conductor on dispersion are also discussed Numerical results include various structual parameters and are compared with other available data and good agreements are observed.
