  • A characterization procedure for analyzing symmetric coupled MIS(Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor) transmission line is used the same procedure as a general single layer symmetric coupled line with perfect dielectric substrate from the extraction of the characteristic impedance and propagation constant for even- and odd-mode. In this paper, an analysis for a new substrate shielding symmetric coupled MIS structure consisting of grounded crossbar at the interface between Si and SiO2 layer using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is presented. In order to reduce the substrate effects on the transmission line characteristics, a shielding structure consisting of grounded crossbar lines over time-domain signal has been examined. Symmetric coupled MIS transmission line parameters for even- and odd-mode are investigated as the functions of frequency, and the extracted distributed frequency-dependent transmission line parameters and corresponding equivalent circuit parameters as well as quality factor for the new MIS crossbar embedded structure are also presented. It is shown that the quality factor of the symmetric coupled transmission line can be improved without significant change in the characteristic impedance and effective dielectric constant.

  • Directional couplers are widely used in RF and microwave applications to distribute or monitor signals. This paper presented a new structure of microstrip branch line directional coupler with coupled lines. The loose couplings of microstrip branch line directional couplers are impractical for the high characteristic impedance values required for the shunt branches. To overcome this limitation, the parallel coupled lines with the shorts were used for the high characteristic impedance. The results of the simulations and measurements were presented for the proposed branch line directional coupler. Measurement of the 10 dB branch line directional coupler shows that the return loss is higher than 30 dB over 10 % bandwidth and the isolation is 35 dB or better over 8 % bandwidth.

  • The proposed Triple-band Compact Chip Antenna using Coupled Meander line and stacked meander Structure for Mobile RFID/PCS/WiBro. The proposed antenna is designed to operate at 900, 1800, and 2350 MHz, and is realized by parasitic coupled and stacked a meander line. Meander lines are using extend length of effective current path more than monopole and contribute miniaturization. The coupled meander line controls the excitations of the Mobile RFID and PCS, stacked meander line controls the excitation of the WiBro. The proposed antenna size is $11mm\times22.5mm\times1mm$. The antenna supports 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2350MHz operations simultaneously with bandwidths of 33MHz, 230MHz and 100MHz, respectively. The proposed antenna gains are result of simulation to be -0.8dBi, 3dBi and 3.8dBi, respectively.

  • Modified compact combline bandpass filters are proposed based on the miniaturized quarter-wave transmission line which is composed of the parallel coupled line and lumped capacitors. The electrical length of the parallel coupled line in a resonator, which determines the size of combline bandpass filters, is just $5^{\circ}$ or $7^{\circ}$, resulting in a compact circuit area. The designed combline bandpass filter also has a wide upper stopband by suppressing the spurious passbands, not moving. Measured results of two fabricated filters centered at 400MHz show good agreement with the theoretical predications.

  • We review recent research results on coupled line cameras (CLC) as a new geometric tool to reconstruct a scene quadrilateral from image quadrilaterals. Coupled line cameras were first developed as a camera calibration tool based on geometric insight on the perspective projection of a scene rectangle to an image plane. Since CLC comprehensively describes the relevant projective structure in a single image with a set of simple algebraic equations, it is also useful as a geometric reconstruction tool, which is an important topic in 3D computer vision. In this paper we first introduce fundamentals of CLC with reals examples. Then, we cover the related works to optimize the initial solution, to extend for the general quadrilaterals, and to apply for cuboidal reconstruction.

  • In this paper, we introduce a procedure to find design parameter for array coupled lines using 2-D finite element analysis. To extract design parameters using FE calculation, we set up several design conditions. In order to show the validity of our approach, we designed, simulated and fabricated a comb-line bandpass filter.

  • In this paper, we propose a microstrip bandpass filter using stepped-impedance coupled-line hairpin resonators. The stepped-impedance coupled-line hairpin resonator has extended harmonic suppression in comparison with a conventional hairpin resonator due to transmission zero and the movement of harmonic frequencies resulting from the stepped-impedance characteristic. A high-pass type impedance/admittance inverter is employed in order to improve the lower frequency skirt characteristics of the passband. A 4-pole bandpass filter is designed and fabricated at 1.8 GHz. The measured results show the excellent attenuation performance at the stopband which is greater than 30 dB up to 10 GHz.

  • This work proposes a novel coupled line coupler structure based on the asymmetric cascaded connection of coupled lines. The proposed structure can be designed in smaller size than conventional single section coupled line couplers. Also, the additional design freedom offered by the proposed structure can serve many useful purposes such as the output phase control or the flexible coupler layout for complex circuit routing environments.

  • A new method to miniaturize ${\lambda}/4$ transmission line of power divider is proposed. The method utilizes simple combination of the shorted coupled-line pair instead of the transmission line with very high impedance and shunt lumped capacitors. The length of ${\lambda}/4$ transmission line of power divider is about 16% over the conventional power divider at 1 GHz.

  • Chua's circuit is a simple electronic network which exhibits a variety of bifurcation and attractors. The circuit consists of two capacitors, an inductor, a linear resistor, and a nonlinear resistor. In this paper, a transmitter and a receiver using two identical Chua's circuits are proposed and synchronizations of a power line are investigated. Since the synchronization of the power line system is impossible by coupled synchronization, theory having both the drive-response and the coupled synchronization is proposed. As a result, the chaos synchronization has delay characteristics in the power line transmission system caused by the line parameters L and C.
