Evaluation of Dynamic Characteristics of the Box Beam of HANARO Reactor Pool (하나로 원자로 수조내 사각보의 동특성 평가)

  • This study is for the seismic analysis and the structural integrity evaluation of the box beam for supporting nuclear fuel-transfer-basket of the HANARO reactor pool. For performing the seismic analysis and evaluating the structural integrity in air or submerged condition, the finite element model of the fuel-transfer-basket and its supporting box beam(the coupled model) was developed. The hydrodynamic effect is also considered by using added mass concept. The seismic response spectrum analyses of the coupled model under the design floor response spectrum loads of Safe Shutdown Earthquake(SSE) were performed. Through the numerical experiments, the analysis results show that the stress values of the coupled model lot the structural integrity are within the ASME Code limits.

Fluid/Structure Coupled Analysis of 3D Turbine Blade Considering Stator-rotor Interaction (스테이터-로터 상호간섭 효과를 고려한 3차원 터빈 블레이드의 유체/구조 연계해석)

  • In this study, fluid/structure coupled analyses have been conducted for 3-D stator and rotor configuration. Advanced computational analysis system based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD) and computational structural dynamics(CSD) has been developed in order to investigate fluid/structure responses of general stator-rotor configurations. To solve the fluid/structure coupled problems, fluid domains are modeled using the structural grid system with dynamic moving and local deforming techniques. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with Spalart-Allmaras(S-A) and SST ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for computing the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of the 3-D turbine blades for fluid-structure interaction(FSI) problems. Detailed fluid/structure analysis responses for stator-rotor interaction flow conditions are presented to show the physical performance and flow characteristics.

Experimental Modal Analysis of Two Unequal Rectangular Plates Coupled with Fluid (유체로 연성되고 두께가 상이한 두 직사각 평판의 실험적 모드 해석)

  • In order to study the vibration characteristics of fluid-structure interaction problem, two rectangular plates coupled with bounded fluid were investigated. Experimental modal analyses were carried out to extract the modal parameters of the system. Additionally. finite element modal analyses performed using a commercial computer code, ANSYS. The FEM solutions were compared with the experimental solutions to verify the finite element model. As a result, the comparison between the experiment and FEM results showed excellent agreement. The transverse vibration modes, in-phase and out-of-phase, were observed alternately in the fluid-coupled system. The thickness effect of the plates on the fluid-coupled natural frequencies and mode shapes was investigated for two different cases with the identical thickness and the unequal thickness. It was found that the coupled natural frequencies increase with the thickness for the identical plates regardless of the mode phase. The experimental and the finite element analysis results showed that the out-of-phase mode shapes were deviated from the symmetrical mode shapes in the plate transverse direction fur the unequal plate thickness case.

  • If a wall separates the bounded and unbounded spaces, then the wall's role in transporting the acoustic characteristics of the two spaces is not well defined. In this paper, we attempted to see how the acoustic characteristical of two spaces are really affected by the spatial characteristics of the wall. In order to understand coupling mechanism, we choose a finite space and a semi-infinite space separated by the flexible or rigid wall and an opening. A volume interaction can be occurred in structure boundary and a pressure interaction can be happened in the opening boundary. For its simplicity, without loosing generality, we use rather simplified rectangle model instead of generally shaped model. The source impedance is presented to the various types of boundaries. The distributions of pressure and active intensity are also presented at the cavity and structure-dominated modes. The resulting modification, shifts of mode1 frequencies and changing of standing wave patterns to satisfy both coupled boundary conditions and governing equations, are presented.

  • Acoustic modal characteristics are investigated on the passenger compartment and trunk coupled system. One-dimensional theoretical model is proposed and the validity of the model is verified by experiment on a simplified compartment model. The theoretical model identifies the occurrence of a new low frequency compartment mode, which does not exist in the uncoupled passenger compartment. The effect of the hole size on the compartment modes is analytically and experimentally examined.

  • In this study, a computational analysis system has been developed in order to investigate flow-induced vibration(FIV) phenomenon for general stator-rotor cascade configurations. Relative movement of the rotor with respect to stator is reflected by modeling independent two computational domains. Fluid domains are modeled using the unstructured grid system with dynamic moving and local deforming methods. Unsteady, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with one equation Spalart-Allmaras and two-equation SST $k-\omega$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used flow computing the coupled governing equations of the fluid-structure interaction problem. Detailed FIV responses for different flow conditions are presented with respect to time and vibration characteristics are also physically investigated in the time domain.

  • This paper presents the vibration characteristics of an intelligent cantilever beam in contact with a fluid using a PZT actuator and PVDF film. The dynamic behaviors of a flexible beam-water interaction system are examined. The effect of the liquid level on free vibration of the composite beam in a partially liquid-filled circular cylinder is investigated. The coupled system is subject to an undisturbed boundary condition in the fluid domain. It was found that the coupled natural frequencies decreased with the fluid level for the identical composite beam due to added mass effect.   • In a verical type, vibratory gyroscope, the coupled motion between the reference and sensing vibrations causes the zero-point output which means non-zero sensing vibration without angular velocity. This structural coupling leaks to an inherent discrepancy between the natural frequencies of the reference and sensing oscillations, causing the degradation of the sensing performance and dynamic stability. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics associated the coupling phenomenon are theoretically analyzed. Effects of reference frequency and coupling factor on the rotational direction and amplitude of elliptic oscillation are studied. A technique to predict the existence of curve veering of crossing in frequency trajectories is introduced to apply the design of micro gyroscopes with decoupled structures.

  • In this work, to identify the dynamic characteristics of disk-spindle system in hard disk drive, experimental modal analysis was performed. And an experimental analysis system including testing apparatus, precision sensors, and analysis software was established in order to perform the testing effectively. From the experimental results, coupled and uncoupled modal characteristics of 3-disk spindle system are clearly identified.
