The MSC is a payload on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite to perform the earth remote sensing. The instrument images the earth using a push-broom motion with a swath width of 15 km and a GSD(Ground Sample Distance) of 1 m over the entire FOV(Field Of View) at altitude 685 km. The instrument is designed to haute an on-orbit operation duty cycle of 20% over the mission lifetime of 3 years with the functions of programmable gain/offset and on-board image data compression/storage. The MSC instrument has one channel for panchromatic imaging and four channel for multi-spectral imaging covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm using TDI(Time Belayed Integration) CCD(Charge Coupled Device) FPA(Focal Plane Assembly). The MSC hardware consists of three subsystem, EOS(Electro Optic camera Subsystem), PMU(Payload Management Unit) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem) and each subsystems are currently under development and will be integrated and verified through functional and space environment tests. Final verified MSC will be delivered to spacecraft bus for AIT(Assembly, Integration and Test) and then COMSAT-2 satellite will be launched after verification process through IST(Integrated Satellite Test). In this paper, the introduction of MSC, the configuration of MSC electronics including electrical interlace and design of CEU(Camera Electronic Unit) in EOS are described. MSC Operation parameters induced from the operation concept are discussed and analyzed to find the influence of system for on-orbit operation in future.
In general, in order to obtain position information from satellite images, satellite sensor model which represents the geometric relationship between sensor and targeted area should be established in the first place. However, it is not simple for modelling pushbroom satellite sensor due to the image capturing process. In recent development of new generation imaging sensors, a generic sensor model, which is applicable to all types of sensors such as frame, pushbroom, whiskbroom, and SAR is in great need to the remote sensing and photogrammetry community. In this paper, the RFM as sensor model was implemented with KOMPSAT EOC and SPOT satellite images and analyzed in cases where the number and distribution of ground control points were varied. The test results of RFM were presented and compared with those of Direct Linear Transformation(DLT).
The commercial value of strawberries is affected by various factors such as their shape, size and color. Among them, size determined by weight is one of the main factors determining the quality grade of strawberries. In this study, image technology was developed to predict the weight of strawberries using the shape characteristics of strawberry cultivars. For realtime weight measurements of strawberries in transport, an image measurement system was developed for weight prediction with a charge coupled device (CCD) color camera and a conveyor belt. A strawberry weight prediction algorithm was developed for three cultivars, Maehyang, Sulhyang, and Ssanta, using the number of pixels in the pulp portion that measured the strawberry weight. The discrimination accuracy (R2) of the weight prediction models of the Maeyang, Sulhyang and Santa cultivars was 0.9531, 0.951 and 0.9432, respectively. The discriminative accuracy (R2) and measurement error (RMSE) of the integrated weight prediction model of the three cultivars were 0.958 and 1.454 g, respectively. These results show that the 2D imaging technology considering the shape characteristics of strawberries has the potential to predict the weight of strawberries.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the image quality, diagnostic efficacy, and radiation dose associated with the use of a cadmium telluride (CdTe) detector, compared to charge-coupled device (CCD) and complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS) detectors. Materials and Methods: Lateral cephalographs of a phantom (type 1) composed of synthetic polymer filled with water and another phantom (type 2) composed of human skull macerated with polymer coating were obtained with CdTe, CCD, and CMOS detectors. Dosimeters placed on the type 2 phantom were used to measure radiation. Noise levels from each image were also measured. McNamara cephalometric analysis was conducted, the dentoskeletal configurations were assessed, and a subjective evaluation of image quality was conducted. Parametric data were compared via 1-way analysis of variance with the Tukey post-hoc test, with a significance level of 5%. Subjective image quality and dentoskeletal configuration were described qualitatively. Results: A statistically significant difference was found among the images obtained with the 3 detectors(P<0.05), with the lowest noise level observed among the images obtained with the CdTe detector and a higher subjective preference demonstrated for those images. For the cephalometric analyses, no significant difference (P>0.05) was observed, and perfect agreement was seen with regard to the classifications obtained from the images acquired using the 3 detectors. The radiation dose associated with the CMOS detector was higher than the doses associated with the CCD (P<0.05) and CdTe detectors(P<0.05). Conclusion: Considering the evaluated parameters, the CdTe detector is recommended for use in clinical practice.
We provide a detailed description of the installation and operation of a remote spectroscopic meteor observation system at Unjangsan optical astronomy observatory. Three light-sensitive charge-coupled device cameras were installed, and two cameras had a diffraction grating attached to the front of the lens. Station employ sensitive "Watec-902H2" cameras in combination with f/1.2 lenses were installed in November 2019. Diffraction gratings for spectral observations were used at 500 l/mm. Observations were conducted from November 2019 to June 2020. We employed the SonotaCo UFO software suite for meteor detection. Subsequently, meteor spectra were analyzed using field-tested RSpec software. To analyze the observation images, astronomical calibration and photometric calibration were performed, and the chemical elements of the meteor were determined. The study results are presented along with the system setup installation and operation experience. Brief information regarding the origin of the meteor was also provided based on the results.
This paper proposes a fusion imaging-based coating-defect classification method for steel structures that uses zero-shot learning. In the proposed method, a halogen lamp generates heat energy on the coating surface of a steel structure, and the resulting heat responses are measured by an infrared (IR) camera, while photos of the coating surface are captured by a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera. The measured heat responses and visual images are then analyzed using zero-shot learning to classify the coating defects, and the estimated coating defects are visualized throughout the inspection surface of the steel structure. In contrast to older approaches to coating-defect classification that relied on visual inspection and were limited to surface defects, and older artificial neural network (ANN)-based methods that required large amounts of data for training and validation, the proposed method accurately classifies both internal and external defects and can classify coating defects for unobserved classes that are not included in the training. Additionally, the proposed model easily learns about additional classifying conditions, making it simple to add classes for problems of interest and field application. Based on the results of validation via field testing, the defect-type classification performance is improved 22.7% of accuracy by fusing visual and thermal imaging compared to using only a visual dataset. Furthermore, the classification accuracy of the proposed method on a test dataset with only trained classes is validated to be 100%. With word-embedding vectors for the labels of untrained classes, the classification accuracy of the proposed method is 86.4%.

A method for gamma/neutron event classification based on frequency-domain analysis for mixed radiation environments is proposed. In contrast to the traditional charge comparison method for pulse-shape discrimination, which requires baseline removal and pulse alignment, our method does not need any preprocessing of the digitized data, apart from removing saturated traces in sporadic pile-up scenarios. It also features the identification of neutron events in the detector's full energy range with a single device, from thermal neutrons to fast neutrons, including low-energy pulses, and still provides a superior figure-of-merit for classification. The proposed frequency-domain analysis consists of computing the fast Fourier transform of a triggered trace and integrating it through a simplified version of the transform magnitude components that distinguish the neutron features from those of the gamma photons. Owing to this simplification, the proposed method may be easily ported to a real-time embedded deployment based on Field-Programmable Gate Arrays or Digital Signal Processors. We target an off-the-shelf detector based on a small CLYC (Cs2LiYCl6:Ce) crystal coupled to a silicon photomultiplier with an integrated bias and preamplifier, aiming at lightweight embedded mixed radiation monitors and dosimeter applications.

In this paper, it is presented a digital image processing method and the program (Visual C++) to determine the shape of the suspension bridge. To investigate the precision of this method, a suspension bridge is divided into 5, 13 and 19 images, respectively, by using the 6.3M pixels digital camera with 300mm zoom lens. Obtained results of the Kwang-Ahn Grand Bridge by using this method are fairly close to the real precision surveyed data. The accuracy is more improved by increasing the number of divided images of the structure. The total cost, man power and time of field survey by this method presented in this study could be much more reduced and the developed program could be applied with little modification for other structures like cable-stayed bridges, if lens compensation algorithms and program access capabilities are improved.

Purpose : To study the feasibility of verifying real-time 2-D dose distribution measurement system with the scintillation screen for the quality assurance. Materials and Methods : The water phantom consisted of a scintillation screen (LANEX fast screen, Kodak, USA) that was axially located in the middle of an acrylic cylinder with a diameter of 25 cm. The charge-coupled device (CCD) camera was attached to the phantom In order to capture the visible light from the scintillation screen. To observe the dose distribution In real time, the intensity of the light from the scintillator was converted to a dosage. The isodose contours of the calculations from RTP and those of the measurements using the scintillation screen were compared for the arc therapy and the Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Results : The kernel, expressed as a multiplication of two error functions, was obtained in order to correct the sensitivity of the CCD of the camera and the scintillation screen. When comparing the calculated isodose and measured isodose, a discrepancy of less than 8 mm in the high dose region was observed. Conclusion : Using the 2-D dosimetry system, the relationship between the light and the dosage could be found, and real-time verification of the dose distribution was feasible.

SONY corporation preoccupies $80\%$ of a market of the CCD used in a CCTV system. The CCD of SONY have high duality which can not follow the progress of capability. But there are some problems which differ the clock frequency used in CCD from the frequency used in common video encoder. To get the result by using common video encoder, the system needs a scaler that could adjust image size and PLL that synchronizes CCD's with encoder's clock So, this paper proposes the video encoder that is activated at equal clock used in CCD without scaler and PLL. The encoder converts ITU-R BT.601 4:2:2 or ITU-R BT.656 inputs from various video sources into NTSC or PAL signals in CVBS. Due to variable clock, property of filters used in the encoder is automatically changed by clock and filters adopt multiplier-free structures to reduce hardware complexity. The hardware bit width of programmable digital filters for luminance and chrominance signals, along with other operating blocks, are carefully determined to produce hish-quality digital video signals of ${\pm}1$ LSB error or less. The proposed encoder is experimentally demonstrated by using the Altera Stratix EP1S80B953C6ES device.
