미국의 정보기술 투자와 경제적 성과 사이의 인과성 연구 (A Study of Causality between Country-level IT Investment and Economic Performance in the U.S.)

  • This paper investigated the causal relationship between IT investment and economic performance with the office, computing and accounting machinery (OCAM) and gross domestic product (GDP) statistics from the United States for the period 1961 to 2001. Due to non-stationary aspects of the series, found by unit root tests, it was deemed applicable to apply growth models using the first difference of the series. The results indicate that IT investment growth at the country level do not only cause economic performance growth, but are also caused by economic performance growth. While IT investment growth affect economic performance growth over shorter time periods, economic performance growth affect IT investment growth over longer time periods. As a result, this study reveals IT investment growth have the preceding effect on economic performance growth, and then economic performance growth impact subsequently on IT investment growth.

Firm Heterogeneity and Location Choice: The Case of South Korean Manufacturing Multinationals

  • Previous studies of location choice have focused on country-level data more than firm-level data and been more concerned with host countries' distinctive features than with firm heterogeneity. Therefore, they do not answer the question of who will go where in terms of location choice. To analyze the role of firm heterogeneity in determining location choice, we develop a theoretical model and analyze data on 3,644 Korean manufacturing multinationals operating in 87 countries between 1982 and 2006. The results of our conditional logit analysis indicate that not only host country characteristics but also firm heterogeneous factors such as productivity, labor intensity, and size have considerable influence on the decision of where to locate FDI.

Grains and Roughage Production and Its Utilization in Asian-Australasian Region - Review -

  • Asian-Australasian region comprises of 82 countries spread over varying agro economic zones, habitats and ecosystems varying from dry hot to humid tropics and cold deserts. The literacy standards vary from very low to almost 100 percent. On the basis of economic development there are 4 countries Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Korea which are developed countries, rest are in varying states of development and growing economically very rapidly. Based on Agro ecosystems and farming practices, we have chosen four countries for indepth study in this paper namely China, Thailand, Indonesia and India. They represent 70% of the bovine and poultry population of the region. This paper makes a comparative study of the grain and roughage production and utilization at present and in 2000 A.D. by examining information on feed rates demand patterns and feed requirements in these four countries keeping in view the size and growth of bovine and poultry population and dietary pattern of the people. It has been observed, there has so far been no country level detailed study on the livestock feed requirements. Apart from conceptual discrepancies, most of the estimates given in various reports brought out by the national governments and international agencies do not have any scientific basis. Hence an inter-country comparison is virtually impossible on the basis of the available information. We have however, attempted to analyse the dietary pattern in the different countries, feedgrains requirements, availability of feed based on the information available from the various published and unpublished reports. We have given an inter-country comparison of feed rate and feed requirements which, however, needs to be tested by carrying out a micro level study in each selected country.

대외무역법 원산지표시위반 관련 벌칙에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Penalty of the Breach of Country of Origin Labeling in Korea Foreign Trade Act)

  • The Korea Foreign Trade Act(KFTA) was revised the penal provisions of the breach of the Country of Origin Labeling(COOL) recently. The ceiling of penalties became to 5 years for imprisonment, one hundred or three hundred million won for fine. The level of penalties are adjudged quite fair but the amount of penalty should be increased according to the profits from the breach or the nature of crime in some cases. The problems of the penalties are differences between KFTA and other related laws. There are related several laws on the breach of the COOL such as KFTA, Unfair Trade related Law, Customs Law, Consumer Protection Law, Law of COOL on Agricultural and Marine products etc. The penal provisions of the breach of the COOL has more heavier level than other the breach because of the criminal qualities. The problems are the penalty differences between the KFTA and the Unfair Trade Law under the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. The KFTA's penal provisions need to equate with Unfair Trade Law as long as same breaches on the COOL. The government can also consider some policies to rigid enforcement of breaches on the COOL. There are the Country of Origin Tracking system, the RoO Paparazzi System, Make public the names of habitual RoO Violators, Correction Order of breach of the COOL etc.

한ㆍ중ㆍ일간 어업관리정책의 비교와 자원공동관리에 대한 검토 (The Comparative Research on the Fisheries Resource Management Policy of Korea, China and Japan)

  • The sustainable reduction of the fisheries resource is keenly raised an urgent problem of the fisheries policy in Korea, China and Japan. Then, 3 country, Korea, Japan, China, have established various system for fisheries resource management. Among these systems, qualitative fishing regulations have been commonly established. For example, its have been enforced to the prohibited fishing region, fishing period, fish size, net size, specified fishing methods. Also, different fisheries resource management policies have occasionally enforced by each country. For example, the prohibition of free sale and free possession has been established in Korea and Japan, but not China. And, In Korea, It has been enforced uniquely to entry system far fishing license number ana sea farming project for coastal fishing grounds by national government. The entry system for fishing license number has been enforced in Japan too, not national government, but local government. Nevertheless these three countries have put good system for fisheries resource management above mentioned, real enforcement has been not operated well. For efficient management on same fisheries, next problem will have been solved. First, it has to be guaranteed to transparency on the fisheries management, which is considered the priority problem on the fishing regulation. For reason, although efficient system is established in each country, if feasibility of the system was not trusted, mutual effort like that is very difficult to gain desired results. Then, each country has to establish transparency on the fisheries statistics and administration. Second, it has to be adjusting on the criteria or level of fisheries resource management. Now Korea, Japan and China have different criteria or level of fisheries resource management, for, example, prohibited fish size and prohibited fishing net sine. To solve above problems, three countries need to deeply discuss together. Then fisheries resource co-management scheme should be established in same fishing ground.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this country analysis is to examine its current state: economically, politically, legally, and ethically, and look at small and medium Algerian businesses to identify any issues that could hinder economic and business performance and growth. Research Design, and Methodology - This is a case study, an analytical approach, which focuses on exploring and analyzing different aspects of Algeria. Results - Since 2008, the Algerian economy has experienced a relative slowdown due to falling oil and gas prices and the economic recessions of its main trading partners, in particular, European countries. Algeria has still not managed to diversify its economy or establish competitive industrialization at the international level; it has had difficulty shifting from its economic dependence on hydrocarbons. Algerian businesses continue to face obstacles and constraints, penalized in their performance and prevented from success in a dense and competitive global marketplace. Conclusion - The Algerian economy and Algerian businesses have shown positive performance and growth over the last few decades. However, issues exist that may hinder both business and economic progress in the future.

  • Attempts have also been made to locate security in the so-called 'policingdivision of labour' In order to understand this, it is necessary to identify some of the links which exist between public police organizations and the private security sector. Such links can be divided into six types : 1) Interpersonal links, 2) Joint operations, 3) Exchange of services, 4) Granting of special powers, 5) Public bodies hiring private personnel, 6) New organizational. Van Reenen provides a useful outline of the different dimensions of future Glibalization of policing. Developments, he suggests, are likely to proceed in four directions : 1) Co-operation : at this level, the nature and powers of national police systems are not required to change, co-operation occurring between self-standing forces. 2) Horizontal integration : this arises when officers obtain authority to operate in another country, or where government officials from one country get authority over the police in another country. 3) Vertical integration : this exists when a police organization is created which can operate within the area of the EC as a whole. 4) Competition : the internationalization of policing in Europe presents itself, more and more, as a market in which different policing systems trade their products.

탄소배출권 거래제의 도입과 전망 (Adoption of Carbon Emissions Trading and Its Prospects)

  • Korea has been officially classified as a non Annex-I country under the Kyoto Protocol, however, international community is used to considering it as if it were an Annex-I country. Korea has been under great pressure from the international community, especially from the EU and the US, to get included as an Annex-I country or to accept a legally-binding emissions reduction target like other developed nations. Korean Government declared its national target of emissions reduction in 2020 before the Copenhagen meeting, and also pronounced "Low-Carbon Green-Growth" as a new national paradigm to drive the entire nation toward a low carbon society and develop a new growth momentum. The 'green Act', which was passed by the National Assembly in 2009, is a comprehensive and fundamental law providing legal grounds to all of the national policies and measures that are needed to transform the nation into a low-carbon society. Korean government announced to begin Carbon Emissions Trading from 2015, instead of the originally scheduled year of 2013, considering global trends and industrial competitiveness in a flexible manner. The Carbon Emission Trading would reduce carbon emissions by 30 percent from the expected 2020 level, or 4 percent below its emissions in 2005.

온라인 소셜 네트워크 서비스의 글로벌 확산에 관한 연구 (Global Diffusion of Online Social Network Services : A Cross-Country Study)

  • This study examines online social media diffusion across different countries that will help to provide a picture of current global online social network services (SNSs). Analyzing country-level data drawn from 78 nations, we find that non-technological factors such as culture and language as well as technological factors including Internet penetration rate and smartphone adoption rate have significant effects on online social media diffusion. These findings, derived from a broad range of different countries, not only provide theoretical insights into understanding critical factors that enable successful global expansion of online social media services but also help practitioners plan their marketing strategies more effectively in a global context.

음식점 원산지표시 시행에 대한 호텔조리직원들의 지식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Knowledge of Country-of-Origin Labeling System in Hotel Culinary Staffs)

  • 본 연구는 음식점 원산지표시에 대한 조리직원들의 지식 정도를 파악하고 평가할 수 있는 도구를 개발하여, 조리직원들이 음식점 원산지 표시제도에 대해 어느 정도 지식을 갖추고 있는지 파악하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 실증연구는 편의 표본추출법으로 서울소재 특급호텔 10곳에 재직 중인 7년차 이상의 조리직원들을 대상으로 2014년 11월 14일부터 11월 27일까지 14일간 진행되었으며, 설문지는 자기기입식방법으로 총 200부의 설문지를 배포하여 이중 192부를 회수하였으며, 최종 186(93 %)부를 연구 자료로 사용하였다. 조사 분석을 위해 SPSS 18.0 통계 프로그램을 활용하여 인구통계사항과 지식정도를 알아보기 위해 빈도분석을 실시하였으며, 조리직원들의 학력, 직급, 경영형태에 따른 음식점 원산지표시의 지식 차이를 알아보기 위하여 일원분산분석과 t-test 분석을 실시하였다. 조리직원들에게 음식점 원산지표시에 대한 지식을 조사한 연구결과, 전체 21문항에 대한 평균 정답률은 39.85%로 매우 낮게 조사되었고, 학력은 유의한 차이가 없었으나, 직급은 높을수록, 경영형태는 독립경영호텔이 높은 점수를 보여 조리직원들의 지식은 직급과 경영형태에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 조사 되었다. 연구결과 향후 음식점 원산지표시에 대한 조리직원의 지식수준을 높이기 위하여 교육을 강화하여야 하며, 이를 업무에 적용할 수 있도록 지속적인 관리 감독을 해야 할 것으로 사료된다. 연구의 한계 및 향후 연구방향에 대해서도 논의 하였다.
