Quantum Coherent Dissociation in a Hybrid Atom-light System with Photon Loss

  • We investigate the effect of photon loss on pair production in a hybrid atom-light system. The loss of light field not only affects the generation of photons, but also prevents the generation of atomic collective excitation, although the atoms are not influenced directly. We propose an unbalanced homodyne detection of the number of atomic collective excitation that overcomes the challenge caused by counting uncertainty in practical measurement. In discussion, we show that the intermode correlations and the number correlation is closely related to the initial input state, while the quadrature correlations are independent of the initial state and always exhibit opposite intermode correlations even in the presence of loss.

  • 황산망간 용액조장치의 $^{56}Mn\;{\gamma}$선 검출효율을 결정하는데 $^{56}Mn$용액의 방사능을 절대측정하는 것은 필수적이다 $^{56}Mn$시료를 제작하기 위하여 99.99%의 순도를 갖는 Mn금속조각 13.718mg되는 시료를 한국에너지연구소 TRIGA MARK-II 원자로의 중성자선속이 약 $10^{13}n/cm^2{\cdot}s$되는 열중성자장에서 12분간 조사시켰다. 중성자 방사화된 $^{56}Mn$금속시료를 0.1N-HCI 용액 50ml 용해시켜서 $^{56}Mn$시료를 제작하여 $4{\pi}{\beta}-{\gamma}$ 동시계수기술로 방사능을 측정한 결과 불확도 0.366%를 갖는 값으로서 1987년 10월 15일 0 시를 기준하여 408.070kBq/mg을 얻었다.

  • $^{137}$Cs 용액을 추적자로 사용하여 동시와 역동시 계수방법에 의해 $^{137}$Cs 용액의 방사능을 측정하였다. 본 연구에서의 측정선원은 $^{137}$Cs과 추적자를 혼합하여 제작하였으며 혼합 비율은 동시와 역동시 계수 방법에서 각각 1/3과 1/5로 하였다. $^{137}$Cs용액의 비 방사능은 $\beta$채널 저에너지 문턱 준위 변화와 효율외삽 방법에 의해 산출되었다. 동시와 역동시 계수 방법에 의해 산출된 결과는 기준일 현재 552.78kBq/g과 554.32kBq/g이었으며 합성오차는 각각 1.60kbq/g과 1.51kBq/g이었다. 두 개의 결과는 오차범위 내에서 잘 일치함을 보여준다.

  • Cognitive Radio(CR)는 실제로 사용하지 않는 주파수 대역을 스스로 찾아서 이용함으로써 스펙트럼 효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 기술이다. 현재 사용되지 않는 스펙트럼 대역과 우선사용자(primary user)에 의해 점유되는 대역들을 찾기 위한 스펙트럼 센싱(spectrum sensing)은 CR 시스템에서 중요한 기술의 하나라고 말할 수 있다. 지금가지 연구된 스펙트럼 센싱 방법 중 에너지 검출 방식은 계산의 복잡도가 낮고 비교적 쉽게 구현 할 수 있어서 일반적으로 널리 사용되는 방식이지만 몇 가지 문제점들을 가지고 있다. 특히 불확실한 잡음 전력이 존재하는 환경에서는 에너지 검출기의 성능이 감쇠되기 때문에 이를 해결하기 위해 슬라이딩 윈도우 기반 에너지 검출 기법을 제안하였다. 이 방식은 슬라이딩 윈도우를 이용하여 관심대역에서 신호와 잡음이 가진 에너지를 분리하고 잡음을 제외한 신호의 에너지를 계산해서 우선사용자 신호의 존재 여부를 판단한다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 제안하는 에너지 검출 기법이 기존의 에너지 검출 방식 보다 우수한 성능을 지닌 다는 것을 확인하였다.

해양환경의 변동성을 고려한 해상풍력터빈 지지구조물의 기대수명 평가 (Expected Life Evaluation of Offshore Wind Turbine Support Structure under Variable Ocean Environment)

  • Because offshore structures are affected by various environmental loads, the risk of damage is high. As a result of ever-changing ocean environmental loads, damage to offshore structures is expected to differ from year to year. However, in previous studies, it was assumed that a relatively short period of load acts repeatedly during the design life of a structure. In this study, the residual life of an offshore wind turbine support structure was evaluated in consideration of the timing uncertainty of the ocean environmental load. Sampling points for the wind velocity, wave height, and wave period were generated using a central composites design, and a transfer function was constructed from the numerical analysis results. A simulation was performed using the joint probability model of ocean environmental loads. The stress time history was calculated by entering the load samples generated by the simulation into the transfer function. The damage to the structure was calculated using the rain-flow counting method, Goodman equation, Miner's rule, and S-N curve. The results confirmed that the wind speed generated at a specific time could not represent the wind speed that could occur during the design life of the structure.

Analysis and Optimization of Cooperative Spectrum Sensing with Noisy Decision Transmission

  • Cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) with decision fusion is considered as a key technology for tackling the challenges caused by fading/shadowing effects and noise uncertainty in spectrum sensing in cognitive radio. However, most existing solutions assume an error-free decision transmission, which is obviously not the case in realistic scenarios. This paper extends the general decision-fusion-based CSS scheme by considering the fading/shadowing effects and noise corruption in the common control channels. With this more practical model, the fusion centre first estimates the local decisions using a binary minimum error probability detector, and then combines them to get the final result. Theoretical analysis and simulation of this CSS scheme are performed over typical channels, which suggest some performance deterioration compared with the pure case that assumes an error-free decision transmission. Furthermore, the fusion strategy optimization in the proposed cooperation model is also investigated using the Bayesian criteria. The numerical results show that the total error rate of noisy CSS is higher than that of the pure case, and the optimal values of fusion parameter in the counting rule under both cases decrease as the local detection threshold increases.

Ability of non-destructive assay techniques to identify sophisticated material partial defects

  • This study explores the ability of non-destructive assay techniques to detect a partial material defect in which 100 g of plutonium are diverted from the center of a 1000 g can of PuO2 powder. Four safeguards measurements techniques: neutron multiplicity counting, calorimetry, gravimetry, and gamma ray spectroscopy are used in an attempt to detect the defect. Several materials are added to the partial defect PuO2 can to replicate signatures of the diverted material. 252Cf is used to compensate for the doubles neutron counts, 241Am is used to compensate for the decay heat, and aluminum is used to compensate for the weight. Although, the doubles and triples difference before and after diversion are statistically indistinguishable with the AWCC in fast and thermal mode, the difference in the singles counts are statistically detectable in both modes. The relatively short half-life of 252Cf leads to a decrease (three sigma uncertainty) in the doubles neutron counts after 161 days. Combining this with the precise quantity of 241Am needed (10.7 g) to mimic the heat signature and the extreme precision in 252Cf mass needed to defeat neutron multiplicity measurements gives reassurance in the International Atomic Energy Agency's ability to detect partial material defects.

  • A quantitative fit test, condensation nuclei counting (Portacount 8025, TSI), was performed concurrently with a banana oil (isoamyl acetate: IAA) qualitative fit test (MSA) to evaluate reliability on IAA QLFT and correlation between two methods. One brands of quarter mask (3M model 7500 medium) was prepared for QLFT with HEPA filter and gas & vapor removing media, i.e., combination cartridge. 110 subjects (65 male, 45 female) were fit tested QNFT and QLFT each three times. For a wearer combination having a FF<10, as determined by CNC QNFT, the point es timate (${\beta}$-error) of the probability of that combination not being rejected by the banana oil QLFT was found to be 0.0 with 95% confidence that this statistic is not expected to exceed 0.15. For a wearer combination having a FF<100, as determined by CNC QNFT, the point estimate of the probability of that combination not being rejected by the banana oil QLFT was found to be 0.07 with 95% confidence that this statistic is not expected to exceed 0.13. The uncertainty associated with each estimate, however, is large due to the small number of study subjects with inadequately fitting respirators.

자율주행 인지를 위한 마코브 모델 기반의 정지 장애물 추정 연구 (Markov Model-based Static Obstacle Map Estimation for Perception of Automated Driving)

  • This paper presents a new method for construction of a static obstacle map. A static obstacle is important since it is utilized to path planning and decision. Several established approaches generate static obstacle map by grid method and counting algorithm. However, these approaches are occasionally ineffective since the density of LiDAR layer is low. Our approach solved this problem by applying probability theory. First, we converted all LiDAR point to Gaussian distribution to considers an uncertainty of LiDAR point. This Gaussian distribution represents likelihood of obstacle. Second, we modeled dynamic transition of a static obstacle map by adopting the Hidden Markov Model. Due to the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle in relation to the conditions of the next stage only, a more accurate map of the obstacles can be obtained using the Hidden Markov Model. Experimental data obtained from test driving demonstrates that our approach is suitable for mapping static obstacles. In addition, this result shows that our algorithm has an advantage in estimating not only static obstacles but also dynamic characteristics of moving target such as driving vehicles.

일본 REDD+의 국가 전략 및 시사점 - 양국간 크레딧 메커니즘(JCM)을 중심으로 - (Implications for Japan's National REDD+ Strategies - Focused on Joint Credit Mechanism (JCM) -)

  • 본 연구는 Post-2020을 대비하는 일본의 REDD+의 국가전략과 각 기관별 추진현황을 파악하고, JCM(Joint Credit Mechanism) REDD+ 가이드라인의 문제점에 대한 우리나라 REDD+의 대응 방안 및 시사점을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. JCM-REDD+ 가이드라인의 기술적 한계를 보면, REDD+ 사업의 대상이 되는 산림의 적합성은 세이프가드 간섭이 적은 곳을 선점하는 문제가 있으며, 참조배출기준선의 설정은 기준연도에 따라서 추세선이 변화하기 때문에 배출량 차이가 발생할 수 있다. 또한, REDD+의 배출이동(누출)은 누출지역이 발생하였을 때, 누출면적과 관계없이 일정계수를 곱하여 산출하기 때문에 불확실성을 포함하고 있으며, 모니터링 실시방침은 국가 및 준국가 단위의 방법만을 제시하고 있어 프로젝트 단위의 방법론이 필요하다. 마지막으로 세이프가드에 대한 방침은 세부사항 없이 목록으로만 제시하고 있어 국제통용의 항목 규정이 필요하다. 이와 같은 문제점들은 크레딧의 분배와 계층적접근(Nested Approach) 등의 더블카운팅(Double Counting) 문제와도 관련이 있으며, 앞으로 우리나라는 이를 고려하여 REDD+ 사업을 시행해야 할 것이다.
