Pastor's Expectations from Parish Nurses (목회자의 목회간호에 대한 역할기대)

  • Parish nursing is a community health nursing role developed in 1983 by Lutheran chaplain Granger Westberg. An increasing emphasis on holistic care, personal reseponsibility for a healthy lifestyle, and changes in healthcare delivery systems have undoubtedly facilitated the establishment and nurturance of an innovative nursing role in the community. Parish nurses are functioning in a variety of church congregations of various denominations. The parish nurse is a educator, a personal health counselor, a coordinator of volunteers. The parish nurses helps people relate to the complexed medical care system and assists people to integrate faith and health. The autors conducted a study on pastor's expectations from parish nurses. Results of this study will be useful to those instrumental in planning, initiating, supporting, and evaluating a parish nurses program The research was done on 130 pastors in Taegue and Kyong Sang Buck Do, of various ages ranging from their 20's to 60's: and pastoring churches of various sizes, ranging from under 100 to over 300 members. 94.6% agreed that they needed a parish nurse on their staff; and 86.2% said they wanted to start a parish nurse program in their churches if certain basic conditions were met. The pastors responded that some would hire the nurses on a full-time basis(22.3%), a part -time basis (37.7%) or use volunteer nurses (40%). The pastors said they would expect the following from a parish nurse: health counselling (80.0%) regular health check-ups (78.5%) health care for the elderly (78.5%) health information and education (72.3%) hospice care (72.3%) visiting sick church members at home (69.2%) arranging and training volunteers to help the seek (59.2%) health care for expectant mothers (50.0%) introducing and taking people to health care facilities (46.2%) The pastors were surveyed about specific areas of health education they would want the parish nurse to teach(for example, high blood pressure and heart disease prevention and management(76.2%) ; stress management(74.6%); and diabetes prevention and management(73.8%). The pastors were surveyed about specific areas of health counselling they would expect the parish nurse to do (for example, drug abuse, (73.1), alcohol abuse(64.6%), marriage conflict(60.0%), recovery after the loss of a loved one(56.9%), and women's conflict with parents-in-law(53.8%). The pastors were surveyed about types of things they would want included in regular health check-ups, what they would want a parish nurse to do on home visits, and what they would want included in home care for the elderly. They were also surveyed on what kind of spiritual care they would like parish nurses to give. Most (90.7%) wanted their parish, parishioners to be involved in the parish nurses program as volunteers, and in a variety of ways(such as visiting sick in their homes(68.5%) and helping with housework(63.1%) and taking sick people to health facilities(60%). Parish nurses role, activities, and boundaries of practice should be continuously monitored and refined and a 'case manager' should be conceptualized as an additional or all-encompassing role. An initial parish / community needs and readiness assessment should be done prior to establishing a program to detemine if the congregation is ready, willing, and able to support such a position for at least a 2 to 3 year period.

  • There are many people who start business because of unstable employment due to income polarization. There are many people who start business because of unstable this study is to present the necessary situation and direction for the prospective founders who are hesitant to start their own business by lacking self - confidence and information about Preparing for start-up the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of pre - founder's psychological characteristics and start - up preparation characteristics on entrepreneurship intention. In order to conduct this study, 144 male and 114 female who were temporary workers and about to retire were analyzed for validity and reliability using 258 questionnaires. As a result of analyzing the adjustment effect of entrepreneurship education as an interaction term in the psychological characteristics and the preparation characteristics of the entrepreneurship, the risk taking tendency and the preparation period for entrepreneurship were significant for entrepreneurship education. In addition, the greater the necessity and importance of entrepreneurship education, the greater the effect on entrepreneurship education. It is a meaningful study that can give confidence to the subjects who want to start a business but are afraid of failure. This study is expected to contribute to the government's start - up policy by analyzing the influence of pre - founders on the intention of start - up.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Social Work Intervention for the Family Caregivers of Older Persons with Stroke (뇌졸중 기능손상 노인의 가족수발자에 대한 사회복지실천 개입의 효과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of social work intervention for the family caregivers of the older persons with stroke. Twelve caregivers were assigned to either a treatment group or a control group. The treatment group intervention consisted of 8 weekly, 2-hour sessions which included education, peer and professional support, individual counselling. Wilcoxon test of the pretest and posttest scores of the two groups showed that those in the treatment program experienced significant decrease in caregiving burden and loneliness compared with caregivers who received no intervention. They also experienced increase in self-esteem, self-efficacy in dealing with caregiving tasks, satisfaction with a relationship with the care-receiver, emotional support. Most of these intervention effects were maintained in the 3-month follow-up measurement except loneliness and the caregiver-carereceiver relationship. Caregivers in the treatment group showed overall satisfaction with the program and willingness to continue to attend in the interventions. Based on these findings, implications for social work practice including self-help groups, psychotherapy for the caregivers, expanding social work intervention for the family caregivers of the older persons were discussed.

A Study on the Introduction of IMO Casualty Investigation Code and Marine Safety Investigation System in Korea (IMO 해양사고조사코드의 도입과 해양사고조사제도에 관한 고찰)

  • The marine safety investigation inquires and concludes the facts and causes of the marine casualties and incidents with the objective of preventing similar roses in the future. Thus, IMO and most states adopt and revise marine safety related conventions and national laws based on the results of marine safety investigation. In particular, IMO recently adopts mandatory IMO Casualty Investigation Code to identify the precise cause of rose with states' cooperation, to report the result of investigation, and to establish new international safety standard helping prevention of similar cases based on the report. The Judgement of the Korean Maritime Safety Tribunal system based on the 'Act on the investigation of and inquiry into marine accidents' is used for the purpose of marine safety investigation in Korea to prove cause of marine accident and to improve marine safety. Therefore, this study examines the Code and compares the Code with the Act to reflect the contents of provisions in the Code into the Act. The study would also be the basic references in relation to revising of marine safety investigation system in Korea Specially, the contents in relation to the independence of investigation authority and mandatory counselling system, and guarantee of seafarers human rights to ensure fairness of investigation would be included.

A Survey on the Understanding of High School Teachers about Physical Therapist (고등학교 교사들의 물리치료사에 대한 인식도에 관한 조사)

  • This study was carried out to recognize the understanding of high school teachers about physical therapist during September in 1988, The study population was comprised of 511 high school teachers who had lived in Seoul and Kyunggi Province. Mate teachers were $56\%$ and the rest of them were females. In age distribution $45.4\%$ of them belonged to the 3rd decade, in religion $36.2\%$ of them were Christians, and in their carrier $45.8\%$ of them were less then 5 years. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The high school teachers who knew about department of physical therapy is amounted to $62.6\%$ in male and $49.8\%$ in female. The high school teachers ($41.7\%$ in male and $38.6\%$ in female) considered that students aptitude was the most important thing to keep in mind in counselling those who wished to become physical therapists. There were difference in opinion between male and female teachers as to the counselling criteria (p<0.05). 2. The high school teachers who knew that the students would beemployed in sport center and health clubs after graduation amounted to $24.3\%$ in males and in general hospital to $27.1\%$ in female. There was significant difference in the knowledge for their field of employment between male and female teachers (p<0.05). 3. As to the effectiveness of the physical therapy, $41.3\%$ of male and $29.8\%$ of the female teachers responded to 'satisfactory', but indicating no statistical difference both sexes. 4. As for the attitude of physical therapiest, $43\%$ of them answered that kindness and service devotion were the prerequisite for them. There were statistical difference between male and female teachers in concepts about attitude (p<0.05). To the social level of physical therapist, majority of the teachers thought that physical therapist belong to moderate level in social class. 5. Those who considered that the physical therapy was necessary means for treatment of trauma amounted to $73\%$. The reason why teachers thought that physical therapy was not necessary was that it required too long period of time for the treatment. 6. Those who knew fully the job of physical therapist amounted to $55\%$ and the 55. $9\%$ knew that physical therapists work only at hospitals as the therapist and the rest of them misunderstood the job of physical therapist. 7. As for the academic background to be qualified as physical therapist, $76.2\%$ of them said that graduation of Junior College was required, $12.9\%$ graduation of Senior College and the rest of them had no ideas at all. There was no statistical difference between male and female teachers.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the evaluation of long - term care institutions (evaluation rating, evaluation rating, suitability of evaluation index), quality of service of caregivers, Quality satisfaction, life satisfaction, and facility choice. After receiving the IRB, in January and February of 2018, the survey was completed for 79 long-term care institution managers, 381 nursing care workers, and 381 elderly people. The survey carried out an allocation sample reflecting the 2015 long - term care (facility benefit) evaluation results. The results of this study are as follows. First, it is found that the institutional evaluation (evaluation level, change of evaluation level, recognition of suitability of the index) has a greater impact on the quality of life of the elderly, appear. However, the intention of reselecting the facility after discharge was more influenced by the quality of services of caregivers. Therefore, except for the intention to reschedule the facility, it can be said that the evaluation of the National Health Insurance Corporation was partially validated.

Cytogenetic Studies of Turner Syndrome (Turner증후군 환자의 세포유전학적 연구)

  • During the years 1983 to 1991, cytogenetic analysis was performed on 19 women with Turner syndrome in order to find out the incidence of symptoms and signs according to the classification of chromosome abnormalities. 1. All of them showed short stature and the mean height in 7 adults was $140.71{\pm}5.26cm$. 2. Among the 19 patients with Turner syndrome, 7 (36.8%) had 45, XO karyotype, 7 (36.8%) had 46, Xi (Xq), and remained 5 (26.3%) had mosaicism. 3. Five patients with mosaicism had 45, X/46, XX (2), 45, X/46, Xi (Xq) (2) and 45, X/47, XXX (1), respectively. 4. Patients with 45, XO and 46, Xi (Xq) had amenorrhea, whereas only 33% (1/3) of patients with mosaicism had amenorrhea. Total incidence of amenorrhea was 84.6% (11/13). 5. Abnormal external genitalia was detected in 63.6% of patients. The incidence of abnormality in patients with mosaicism was lower than that of other groups. 6. OMPC and deafness were detected in 3 of 19 patients. 7. Two cases of cardiovascular abnormalities were found in patients with 45, XO. This study suggests that gnenetic counselling according to the classification of chromosomal abnormalities could be needed in patients with Turner syndrome.

Relationship between Sex Role Identity Type, Sexual Consciousness, Sexual Behaviors and Sexual Impulse of University Students (대학생의 성역할 정체감유형과 성의식, 성행동 및 성충동)

  • Purpose: This study was to survey the university student's sex role identity type, sexual consciousness, sexual behaviors, and sexual impulse. Method: The subjects were 332 university students who were eligible and agreed to participate in this study. Data were collected from May 22 to June 9, 2007. Result: Difference of sex role identity type by gender was that the androgyny was the most prevalent. There was a difference in sex role identity type which was classified by gender. Boy students were high in undifferentiation, where as girl students were high in androgyny. In difference of sexual consciousness and sexual behaviors and sexual impulse by gender, it showed that boy students were higher girl students. Difference of sexual consciousness by sex role identity type was high in masculinity. Difference of sexual behaviors and sexual impulse by sex role identity type was high in undifferentiation. Conclusion: To improve positively the attitudes to sexuality of students who have had undifferentiation type, it need to provide various sexual education and sexual counselling.

Correlation of Assertiveness and Depression in Clinical Nurses (임상간호사의 자기표현성과 우울의 상관관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degrees of assertiveness and depression in clinical nurses and identify the relationships between them. Method: The study included 261 clinical nurses working at one university hospital in the Kyunggi province. The assertiveness scale and a micro simple mental diagnosis test were used to assess the variables. Data were analyzed using SPSS. Results: The average assertiveness score was $3.04{\pm}0.38$ and an average depression score $1.23{\pm}0.71$. Statistically significant differences in assertiveness were identified with regards to marital status (p=.034), type of families (p=.005), number of counselling persons (p=.007), and subjective mental health status (p<.001). In addition, the assertiveness scores were statistically significant based on job position(p=.032), and the levels of satisfaction with nursing job (p=.015). There were significant negative correlations between assertiveness and depression of clinical nurses(r=-.237, p<.001). Conclusion: These findings suggest that assertiveness training for clinical nurses is necessary, especially for novice nurses, in order to decrease the level of depression.

  • The service industry will be essentially extended during the economic growth and industrial development. Especially, the role of workers meeting the customers in service industry is very important from the view point of purchase intention. So many companies in service industry endeavor to increase the work efficacies of workers through the various prizes and incentives, and improve the job performance by additional education. Recently, the incentive tours are comprehensively accepted as an efficient tool to promote the loyalty and job performance of workers. The incentive tours enable the worker to gain the cultural experiences. They will experience not only the natural heritages and antiques, but also the local life culture and arts culture. The culture marketing for worker as the internal customer increase the worker's loyalty and the ties among workers, and therefore, their job performance will be increased. The empirical results (162 workers surveyed) showed the incentive tours have improved both the individual and group's job performance at a cosmetic sales organization. So it is recommend to plan the organization specific incentive tour in order to improve the productivity of the service organization.
