To detect the impact location of a structure, the authors' group conducted a study on piezoelectric paint sensor. The piezoelectric paint sensors are used for impact detection due to their inherent characteristics: sensitivity to high-frequency signal and impact. Additionally, the paint sensor can be applied on curved and complex structures where ceramic sensor would not be applicable. Moreover it is a self-powered sensor therefore no need for an external power source. For impact localization, mosaic pattern electrodes were coated on the specimen and the impact signal obtained from any part of the electrode where the impact occurred. If we more precise impact localization is required, the electrodes should be divided into more parts and impact data acquisition conducted in all the points of the electrode. In this paper, we developed a light, cheap and simple multi-channel data acquisition system to aid in data gathering. In total four channels data acquisition have been tested using the ARM Cortex-M3.

This paper describes a design of a lightweight security system-on-chip (SoC) suitable for the implementation of security protocols for IoT and mobile devices. The security SoC using Cortex-M0 as a CPU integrates hardware crypto engines including an elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) core, a SHA3 hash core, an ARIA-AES block cipher core and a true random number generator (TRNG) core. The ECC core was designed to support twenty elliptic curves over both prime field and binary field defined in the SEC2, and was based on a word-based Montgomery multiplier in which the partial product generations/additions and modular reductions are processed in a sub-pipelining manner. The H/W-S/W co-operation for elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (EC-DSA) protocol was demonstrated by implementing the security SoC on a Cyclone-5 FPGA device. The security SoC, synthesized with a 65-nm CMOS cell library, occupies 193,312 gate equivalents (GEs) and 84 kbytes of RAM.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which is working on the Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) standardization project, announced four algorithms that have been finalized for standardization. In this paper, we demonstrate through experiments that private keys can be exposed by Correlation Power Analysis (CPA) and Differential Deep Learning Analysis (DDLA) attacks on polynomial coefficient-wise multiplication algorithms that operate in the process of generating signatures using CRYSTALS-Dilithium algorithm. As a result of the experiment on ARM-Cortex-M4, we succeeded in recovering the private key coefficient using CPA or DDLA attacks. In particular, when StandardScaler preprocessing and continuous wavelet transform applied power traces were used in the DDLA attack, the minimum number of power traces required for attacks is reduced and the Normalized Maximum Margines (NMM) value increased by about 3 times. Conseqently, the proposed methods significantly improves the attack performance.
Objectives & Methods : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of Phellodendri Cortex Herbal-acupuncture solution (PC-HAS) at Joksamni (ST36) on collagen II induced arthritis in DBA-1J mice. The author performed several experimental items to analyze arthritis evaluation, change of weight, spleen size and adhesion rate, change of cytokine level, IgG, IgM and anti-collagen II, chang of immunocyte count, histological change of CIA mouse joint. Objectives : The objective of present study is to evaluate anti-arthritic effects of dried pomegranate concentrate powders (PCP), Eucommiae Cortex aqueous (EC) and ethanolic (ECe) extracts, Achyranthis Radix aqueous (AR) and ethanolic (ARe) extracts on the primary cultured rat articular chondrocytes. Methods : MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium Bromide) assay was performed cytotoxic effect of test substances. In addition, anti-inflammatory effects were also observed on the lipopolysaccaride (LPS) treated chondrocytes through prostaglandin $E_2\;(PGE_2)$ production and 5-lipoxygenase (LPO) activities, and inhibitory effects on metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 activities were observed on the recombinant human interleukin $(rhIL)-1{\alpha}$ treated chondrocytes with their extracellular matrix (ECM) related mRNA expressions - collagen type II, SOX9 and aggrecan. Results : As results, ECe and ARe showed obvious cytotoxicity against primary cultured rat articular chondrocytes at a dose level of 10 mg/ml, respectively. However, no obvious cytotoxic effects of PCP, EC and AR were demonstrated at a dose level of 10 mg/ml, on the primary cultured rat articular chondrocytes. In addition, treatment of LPS $50{\mu}g/ml$ induced significant increases of $PGE_2$ contents and 5-LPO activities indicating inflammatory responses of the primary cultured rat articular chondrocytes, and also decreases of cell viabilities, increases of MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities with decreases of extracellular matrix (ECM) related collagen type II, SOX9 and aggrecan mRNA expressions were observed by treatment of $rhIL-1{\alpha}$ 50 ng/ml, suggesting damages on the primary cultured rat articular chondrocytes and related ECM degradations. However, these inflammatory responses and related ECM degradations were inhibited by pretreatment of all test substances, in order of PCP > ECe > ARe > EC > AR, and $rhIL-1{\alpha}$ induced chondrocytes deaths are inhibited by treatment in order of PCP > EC > AR > ECe > ARe. Conclusions : Taken together, it is expected that mixed formulation of PCP as main components with appropriate proportion of EC and AR as additional components will be achieved a potent alternative medicinal food for osteoarthritis.
Studies on the effects of vanadate for Na-K-ATPase activity were carried out with rabbit renal cortex. 1) Na-K-ATPase activity was inhibited with the concentrations of vanadate in incubation medium. The vanadate concentration at which activity was inhibited by 50%$(ID_{50})$ was $10^{-6}M$ and Hill coefficient was 1.00. 2) The fractional inhibition by constant concentration of vanadate decreased with increasing enzyme concentration. 3) Increasing $K^+$ and $Na^+$ concentrations in incubation medium diminished the ability to inhibit Na-K-ATPase by vanadate whereas increasing $K^+$ and $Mg^{2+}$ concentrations potentiated the inhibition of Na-K-ATPase by vanadate. 4) Vanadate didn't inhibit Na-K-ATPase at pH 6.6. Increasing pH potentiated the inhibition of Na-K-ATPase activity. 5) Vanadate inhibited Na-K-ATPase activity reversibly in all range of concentrations in dilution experiment. These results show that vanadate inhibits Na-K-ATPase activity with interacting at $KE_2$ state reversibly.
Electroconvulsive shock (ECS) increases the activity of acetylchohnesterase and decreases in brain acetylcholine levels. A large amount of free fatty acids accumulated in the brain tissue affects cerebral blood flow, brain edema and inflammation and results in brain injury. The present study examined the effect of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and D,L-pyroglutamic acid (D,L-PCA) on the learning and memory deficit using the passive avoidance failure technique and on the change of acetylcholine and choline level in the cerebral cortex of ECS-induced mice. The application of ECS (25mA, 0.5sec) induced a significant decrease in memory function for 30 min. ECS-induced a significant decrease in cortical acetylcholine and choline levels 1 min following the ECS application, which were almost recovered to ECS control level after 30 min. DHA (20 mg/kg, i.p.). administered 24 hr before shock. prevented the ECS-induced passive avoidance failure and the decrease of acetylcholine level 1 min following the ECS application. DHA failed to elicit a change in cortical choline level. DHA did not affect memory function and the cortical Ach and choline level of normal mice. The administration of D,L-PCA (500 mg/kg, i.p.) increased the effect of DHA on memory function and the change of cortical acetylcholine level of ECS induced mice. These results suggest that DHA treatment may be contributed to the prevention against memory deficit, and to the activation of cholinergic system in the ECS induced mice.
Glycyrrhizin (GA) content in licorice was determined by a couple of methods using HPLC, respectively. In Method(I), GA content itself was determined from the licorice aqueous extract, while in Method (II) glycyrrhetinic acid (GHeA ; the aglicone of GA) content corresponding to the quantity of GA was measured from the chloroform extract of the hydrolyzed product of licorice aqueous extract. A reverse phase column Hibar Lichrosorb RP-18 (E. Merck) was used as the stationary phase. As the mobile phase MeOH: $H_{2}O$(0.05M-$NaH_{2}PO_{4}$)=58 : 42 solution in Method (I), and MeOH: $H_{2}O $: AcOH=78; 19: 3 solution in Method (II) were suitable, respectively. The value obtained by Method (II) appeared slightly higher than that by Method (I). The effect of some other herbal drugs on the assay of GA quantity in mixed sample was also observed in both above two methods. By Method (I) Cassiae Cortex, Rehmaniae Rhizoma, Paeoniae Radix, and Angelicae Radix gave the subtractive effect on the amount of GA compared with the value from licorice alone. In the case of Method (II) Cassiae Cortex and Rehmaniae Rhizoma appeared to have subtractive effect but Paeoniae Radix and Angelicae Radix scarcely showed any influence. Pachymae Fungus did not affect the GA content at all. It seems that glycyrrhizin in licorice interacts with certain components of other herbal drugs.

The aim of this study was the validation of a modified analytical method for determination of oxypaeoniflorin and paeoniflorin in Moutan Cortex Radicis extract. For validation of the analytical method, we modified established analytical methods and validated improvement. For validation, the specificity, linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantification of oxypaeoniflorin and paeoniflorin were measured by high performance liquid chromatography. The results show that the correlation coefficients of the calibration curve for oxypaeoniflorin and paeoniflorin were 1.0000 and 0.9998, respectively. The LOD for oxypaeoniflorin and paeoniflorin were $0.23{\mu}g/mL$ and $0.25{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. The inter-day and intra-day precision values of oxypaeoniflorin and paeoniflorin were 0.70~3.19% and 1.74~2.43%, and 0.32~0.92% and 0.62~2.28%, respectively. The inter-day and intra-day accuracies of oxypaeoniflorin and paeoniflorin were 98.33~102.11% and 97.72~118.12%, and 98.44~101.56% and 97.10~112.00%, respectively. Therefore, the analytical method was validated for the detection of oxypaeoniflorin and paeoniflorin in Moutan Cortex Radicis.
