Correlation Analysis Between Fenestration Energy Consumption Efficiency Rating System and Building Energy Consumption (창호 에너지 소비 효율 등급제와 건물 에너지 소비의 상관관계 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between the 'Fenestration Energy Consumption Efficiency Rating System' (hereafter referred to as FECERS) and building energy consumption. 'EnergyPlus' was used for the calculation of energy consumption in apartments and office buildings, according to FECERS's rating and SHGC. The result indicates that the FECERS has high correlation with apartments, but has low correlation with office buildings. Also, it indicates that office buildings have a large impact from SHGC, which is not reflected in the FECERS. Consequently, the FECERS needs to be improved, by adding optical properties to assessment items. Additional study is required to establish the fenestration rating system, which, on the basis of this work, has high relevance to building energy consumption.

The Evaluation of Administrative Efficiency of the Korean University Using DEA Model (DEA 모형을 이용한 국내 대학의 경영 효율성 평가)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate administrative efficiency of the Korean university and to identify the factors which may affect on the efficiency of universities. In addition, last purpose of this study was to compare correlation among administrative, research and education model. Methods: The collected data through Higher Education in Korea were analysed using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis). Furthermore, in order to provide the better accurate results by removing the bias of the results, this paper implements Bootstrap DEA. It also analyzed the causes of efficiency by Tobit Regression after setting the dependent variable as a proposed efficiency score and compared correlation analysis results between other models. Results: The results of this study are as follows; First, the Korean universities showed low administrative efficiencies. Second, efficiency of national universities are higher than it of private universities. Finally, the administrative and research education model have statistically significant correlation. However, usually many Korean universities focus their resources on education performance such as employment and rates to attract new students than research performances. Conclusion: This study shows that the administrative efficiency positively affects both research and educational efficiency. Approximately 70% of the Korean universities needs to improve their administrative efficiencies and to pay attention to enhance their poor services, low-level performances.

Estimation of Antenna Correlation Coefficient of N-Port Lossy MIMO Array

  • This paper proposes a simple yet accurate method for estimating the antenna correlation coefficient (ACC) of a high-order multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna. The conventional method employed to obtain the ACC from three-dimensional radiation patterns is costly and difficult to measure. An alternate method is to use the S-parameters, which can be easily measured using a network analyzer. However, this method assumes that the antennas are highly efficient, and it is therefore not suitable for lossy MIMO antenna arrays. To overcome this limitation, we define and utilize the non-coupled radiation efficiency in the S-parameter-based ACC formula. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by the simulation results of a 4-port highly coupled lossy MIMO array. Further, the proposed method can be applied to N-port arrays by expanding the calculation matrix.

An Experimental and Numerical Study on Thermal Performance of a Regenerator System with Ceramic Honeycomb

  • The aim of this paper is to perform the experiment and the numerical simulation for investigating the heat transfer in a regenerator system with ceramic honeycomb and to suggest a useful correlation for optimization of the regenerator system. For achieving this, the effects of some parameters were investigated, e. g., switching time, cell size and length of honeycomb on the mean temperature efficiency. The measured temperatures by R-type thermocouples were compared with the predictions by means of the commercial package, STAR-CD. A useful correlation for thermal efficiency was newly proposed as a function of the normalized switching time, defined in terms of switching time, cell size and length of honeycomb. The results showed that the thermal efficiency is above 90% and the normalized heat exchange rate is higher than 80% when the normalized switching time is less than 1000.

The Correlation Between the Polymeric Aluminum Species of Inorganic Coagulant and Its Coagulation Efficiency (알루미늄계 무기 고분자 응집제에서 알루미늄 폴리머 생성과 응집효율과의 상관관계)

  • The correlation between polymeric aluminum species of coagulant and its coagulation efficiency was investigated using several commercial polymeric Al(III) inorganic coagulants (Poly Aluminum Hydroxy Chloro Sulfate 2020 (PAHCS2020), Poly Aluminum Hydroxy Chloro Sulfate 2500 (PAHCS2500) which was introduced in Korean water treatment plants. The poly aluminum chloride (PAC), Poly Aluminum Hydroxide Chloride Silicate (PACS)) and the aluminum salts ($AlCl_3$, Alum ($Al_2(SO_4)_3$)) were used for the purpose of comparison. The comparison of the coagulation efficiency of each coagulant was made by turbidity removal through the standard jar testing procedure and the determination of the hydrolytic Al(III) species was made by the ferron method which can differentiate the monomeric aluminum species from the polymeric aluminum species. Overall, PAHCS2020 and PAHCS2500 showed the better performance in turbidity removal than the aluminum salts. The performance of coagulation was even better without adjustment of pH during the coagulation experiment. The positive correlation between polymeric aluminum species of coagulant and coagulation efficiency was found.

  • H.264/AVC High 4:4:4 Intra/Predictive profiles supports RGB 4:4:4 sequences for high fidelity video. RGB color planes rather than YCbCr color planes are preferred by high-fidelity video applications such as digital cinema, medical imaging, and UHDTV. Several RGB coding tools have therefore been developed to improve the coding efficiency of RGB video. In this paper, we propose a new method to extract more accurate correlation parameters for inter-plane prediction. We use a searching method to determine the matched macroblock (MB) that has a similar inter-color relation to the current MB. Using this block, we can infer more accurate correlation parameters to predict chroma MB from luma MB. Our proposed inter-plane prediction mode shows an average bits saving of 15.6% and a PSNR increase of 0.99 dB compared with H.264 high4:4:4 intra-profile RGB coding. Furthermore, extensive performance evaluation revealed that our proposed algorithm has better coding efficiency than existing algorithms..

Comparison of masticatory efficiency according to Angle's classification of malocclusion

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the differences in masticatory efficiency among patients with different Angle's classes of malocclusion and to assess the correlation between masticatory efficiency and the occlusal contact area. Methods: The mixing ability index (MAI) was calculated for measuring masticatory efficiency of 61 adult patients according to Angle's classifications of malocclusion. The study included 25, 15, and 21 patients with Angle's Class I, II, and III malocclusions, respectively. Silicone interocclusal recording material was used to measure the occlusal contact area. Results: Both the MAI and occlusal contact area showed the highest average values in the Class I malocclusion group, followed by the Class II and Class III malocclusion groups. No significant difference was observed in the MAI values between the Class I and Class II malocclusion groups (p > 0.05), whereas a significant difference was observed between the Class I and Class III malocclusion groups (p < 0.01) and between the Class II and Class III malocclusion groups (p < 0.05). A weak positive correlation was also observed between the MAI and occlusal contact area (p < 0.01, $r^2=0.13$). Conclusions: The results of this study indicated that masticatory efficiency was the highest in patients with Angle's Class I malocclusion, followed by those with Angle's Class II and Angle's Class III malocclusions. Moreover, a weak positive correlation was observed between masticatory efficiency and the occlusal contact area.

A Study on the Correlation Level Among Air Pollution from Solid waste Incinerator (고형폐기물 소각로에서 배출되는 대기오염물질간의 상관성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is providing basic data to control the air pollutants from solid waste incinerator. Incinerating the waste wood, the electrostatic precipitator had the best collection efficiency. The leather incineration had the same collection efficiency as synthetic resin incineration. And the coarse particle collection efficiency was high. As you know in correlation of leather incineration. pollutants produced a from incinerator are mostly fine particles. If the scrubber used only in the process produced a lot of fine particles. It is adequate to use the above control devices, together with high efficiency collector like bag-filter. To select the adequate control devices, it is required to investigate the size distribution before establishing control devices.

Image Analysis: A Novel Technique to Determine the Efficiency of Wiping Cloths

  • The ability to absorb liquid and the dust removal performance are important factors for wiping cloths used to remove contaminants. We have developed a method that can determine the contaminant removal performance of wiping cloths. In the gravimetric method, experimental errors are unavoidable because the contaminant plate is much heavier than the contaminant material. However, we used image analysis to reduce the experimental errors, and did not use the heavy contaminant plate. The correlation coefficient between the image. analysis and the gravimetric methods was very high, at R=0.97, with a significance level of 95%. From the correlation analysis and empirical data, the image analysis method is a useful tool for measuring wiping efficiency. The wiping efficiency measured using image analysis has a close relationship to the wiping speed, viscosity of the contaminant, and wiping pressure, at the significance level of 95%.

  • This study is intended to analyze the relation between G. D. Weisman's Way finding 4 elements the accessibility and efficiency of consumers as to eternal area for Seoul historical museum. The findings are summarized as the following three aspects. First, G. D. Weisman's Way finding element introduced in this study had a significant impact on visitor satisfaction.. It leads to the following conclusion: The higher the impact is, the greater accessaccessibility and efficiency are. Second, among 4 elements, the factor that had the biggest impact on the accessibility was 'visual-perceptual accessibility'. Thus, 'visual-perceptual accessibility' should be considered first to boost the accessibility to consumers. Third, among 4 elements, the factor that had the biggest impact on the efficiency was 'sign system'. Thus, 'sign system' should be considered first to boost the efficiency to consumers.
