  • We propose a Korean spacing-error correction system that requires small memory usage although the proposed method is a mixture of rule-based and statistical methods. In addition, to train the proposed model to be robust in mobile colloquial sentences in which spelling errors and omissions of functional words are frequently occurred, we propose a method to automatically transform typical colloquial corpus to mobile colloquial corpus. The proposed system uses statistical information of syllable uni-grams in order to increase coverages on new syllable patterns. Then, the proposed system uses error correction rules of two or more grams of syllables in order to increase accuracies. In the experiments on fake mobile colloquial sentences, the proposed system showed relatively high accuracy of 92.10% (93.80% in typical colloquial corpus, 94.07% in typical balanced corpus) spite of small memory usage of about 1MB.

  • This paper describes an algorithm for the correction of major radiometric errors shown in MEIS (Multi-spectral Earth Imaging System) images on board KITSAT-3. MEIS images contain various radiometric errors as also shown in the images obtained from other remote sensing sensors. This paper introduces the two major radiometric error sources shown in MEIS images and the corresponding correction algorithm. The proposed algorithm was integrated to an operational preprocessing software and validated by applying the algorithm to several tens of MEIS images. This algorithm will therefore applied operationally to raw MEIS images before they are distributed to users.

  • Korean error detectors of word processors have defects such as inconvenience that users choose one of error groups, lower detecting rate of 60%, and slow processing time. In this study, I proposed a resolution method of these defects. For these, I applied bidirectional longest match strategy for morphological analysis to improve processing time. I suggested dictionaries and several algorithms such as seperation of compound noun and assistant declinable words, correction of typing error to improve processing time and to guarantee correction accuracy. I also suggested a distinguishable method for dependent noun/suffix and Josa/Eomi where many ambiguities are generated, and a distinguishable method for Korean "로써/로서" to improve the reliability of the correction system.

  • The last target of this study is to develop ship's Digital Compass that can be substitute with conventional ship's Magnetic Compass. At first, new Digital Compass system was developed with three-axis high accuracy Flux-gate sensors and small sized step motor. Then after, new deviation correction theory without ship's swinging procedures was proposed to provide automatic deviation analysis, correction and renewal. Throughout the performance evaluation tests on the training ship 'SAE-NU-RI', the effectiveness of developed Digital Compass and proposed deviation correction theory are verified.

  • Surely fuel economy(F.E.) label is needed to meet consumer's right to know. Korea has developed and adopted F.E. correction equation similar to the feeling, because consumer complain about F.E. label higher than they feel. Recently, through continuous research and development high-efficiency & performance green car like HEV, PHEV and EV are being sold. In this situation, it is needed to know whether the current equation can reflect a part of their improved technic or not. In this paper, to review current equation through test using hybrid vehicles on 5-cycle SOC, correction equation and F.E were discussed. The result show HEV didn't meet the SOC error standard on US06. Also, HEV has bigger F.E. difference between FTP-75 and 5-cycle than conventional vehicles. However, the correction equation that include HEV almost same with current one.

  • The Satellite-based Augmentation System (SBAS), as a safety critical system, should be verified on an ongoing basis to ensure the adequate performance. This study proposes two methods to evaluate the performance of SBAS satellite correction. Analysis methods based on precise ephemeris and measurement were applied to present an evaluation method for SBAS satellite correction, and a test was performed based on real data. The precise ephemeris-based analysis method had no limitations on the position of the test user and showed a high precision, enabling an accurate performance analysis in various positions. Although the measurement-based analysis method has the advantage of fast data interval, it showed a relatively lower accuracy due to the effects of various error factors. Compared with the precise ephemeris-based analysis method, there was a large difference of more than 5 m at the beginning of smoothing filter, and a difference less than 50 cm when filtered for more than an hour.

  • Radiation particles can introduce temporary errors in memory systems. To protect against these errors, so-called soft errors, error detection and correcting codes are used. In addition, scrubbing is applied which is a fundamental technique to avoid the accumulation of soft errors. This paper introduces an optimal scrubbing scheme, which is suitable for a system with auto error detection and correction logic. An auto error detection and correction logic can correct soft errors without CPU's writing operation. The proposed scrubbing scheme leads to maximum reliability by considering both allowable scrubbing load and the periodic accesses to memory by the tasks running in the system.

  • When objects are scanned spatially by a laser-beam and mechanical mirror scanners, spatial information can be obtained, and then it is improtant to accurately obtain the parameters relating the light source and camera positions, etc.. In this paper, a calibration technique is presented for correction of measuremtn errors in a three-dimensional laser scanner system with two galvanometers. First, a model of the systematic errors is developed based on the geometry of the scanning system. Calibration parameter values are then iteratively adjusted with coarse-fine search in order to minimize errors (evaluation function) between measured and computed distances. It is shown that this correction method results in measurement precision suitable for practical use.

  • This paper describes the inverter driven air-condetioner with power factor correction (PFC) circuit. By adopting PFC in the rectifier, we can reduce harmonic injection into power line, improve the efficiency and lower the total system cost compared to conventional inverter only. Also, system performance is improved by stabilizing the output voltage of PFC. In this paper, detailed design procedures for PFC are given, and the several merits with PFC are verified through the simulation and experiment.

  • Problems of overlap errors and side-lobe printing by the design rule reduction in the lithography process using attenuated phase-shifting masks(attPSM) have been serious. Overlap errors and side-lobes can be simultaneously solved by the rule-based correction using scattering bars with the rules extracted from test patterns. Process parameters affecting the attPSM lithography simulation have been determined by the fitting method to the process data. Overlap errors have been solved applying the correction rules to the metal patterns overlapped with contact/via. Moreover, the optimal insertion rule of the scattering bars has made it possible to suppress the side-lobes and to get additional pattern fidelity at the same time.
