In SI engine research the pressure data in cylinder is the most important fundamental ones leading to engine efficiencies and performances. It is, therefore, necessary to obtain accurate pressure data and yet it is often impossible to install a reliable data producing, flush-mounted type pressure transducer in a cylinder of small and medium size multicylinder SI engines. When flush mounting the transducer is not possible, the spark-plug type pressure transducer is commonly used as an alternative. In this case, the transmission tube of spark-plug type pressure transducer introduces distortions in the pressure signal. Efforts were made to understand the dynamic characteristics of spark-plug pressure transducer by shock tube tests and real engine experiments. In engine experiment the cylinder pressure data were simultaneously obtained by both flush mounted and spark-plug type pressure transducers of certain transmission tube geometry. Those pressure data collected by spark-plug type pressure transducer were tested for correction to flush mounted ones by the application of transfer function. As a result of the calibration the IMEP difference between F/M data and improved S/P data was shown to be corrected about 75-98% from the original ones.

Spherical NaI(Tl) detectors are used in gamma-ray spectrometry, where the gamma emissions come from the nuclei with energies in the range from a few keV up to 10 MeV. A spherical detector is aimed to give a good response to photons, which depends on their direction of travel concerning the detector center. Some distortions in the response of a gamma-ray detector with a different geometry can occur because of the non-uniform position of the source from the detector surface. The present work describes the calibration of a NaI(Tl) spherical detector using both an experimental technique and a numerical simulation method (NSM). The NSM is based on an efficiency transfer method (ETM, calculating the effective solid angle, the total efficiency, and the full-energy peak efficiency). Besides, there is a high probability for a source-to-detector distance less than 15 cm to have pulse coincidence summing (CS), which may occur when two successive photons of different energies from the same source are detected within a very short response time. Therefore, γ-γ ray CS factors are calculated numerically for a 152Eu radioactive cylindrical source. The CS factors obtained are applied to correct the measured efficiency values for the radioactive volumetric source at different energies. The results show a good agreement between the NSM and the experimental values (after correction with the CS factors).
We analyze aberrations in an optical laser printer system in order to know how to determine an allowable non-uniformity of the movement of a light spot, how to determine allowed variation of spot sizes, and how to minimize the influence of these deviations on technological errors. In this paper, the correction and the tolerance of distortion are analyzed by using the concept of zonal and global distortions. The tolerance of field curvature is also obtained from Gaussian beam properties. In order to reduce the change of the entrance pupil position and to make a more compact laser printer system the minimum size of the rotator is exactly derived from the geometry with the introduction of the shift angle of the input beam.
A new single stage AC/DC converter with a high power factor is proposed. The proposed converter gives good power factor correction, low current harmonic distortions, and tight output regulations. This converter also has an high efficiency by employing Active-clamp method and synchronous rectifiers. To verify performances of the proposed converter, 90W-converter is designed. This prototype meets the IEC555-2 requirements satisfactorily with nearly unity power factor.
A ground control point (GCP) is a point on the surface of Earth where image coord inates and map coordinates can be identified. The GCP is useful for the geometric correction of systematic and unsystematic errors usually contained in a remotely sensed data. Especially in case of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, it has serious geometric distortions caused by inherent side looking geometry. In addition, SAR images are usually severely corrupted by speckle noises so that it is difficult to identify ground control points. We developed a ground point extraction algorithm that has an improved capability. An application of radargrammetry to Daejon area in Korea was studied to acquire the geometric information. For the ground control point extraction algorithm, an ERS SAR data with precise Delft orbit information and rough digital elevation model (DEM) were used. We analyze the accuracy of the results from our algorithm by using digital map and GPS survey data.
A method for calibrating a laser profiling system for seafloor micro-topography measurements is described. The system consists of a digital camera and an arrangement of six red lasers that are mounted as a unit on a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The lasers project as parallel planes onto the seafloor, creating profiles of the local topography that are interpreted from the digital camera image. The goal of the calibration was to determine the plane equations for the six lasers relative to the camera. This was accomplished in two stages. First, distortions in the digital image were corrected using an interpolation method based on a virtual pinhole camera model. Then, the laser planes were determined according to their intersections with a calibration target. The position and orientation of the target were obtained by a registration process. The selection of the target shape and size was found to be critical to a successful calibration at sea, due to the limitations in the manoeuvrability of the ROV.
A new technique for reducing the susceptibility artifact in gradient echo imaging which uses a tailored RF pulse is proposed. It is applied to the case of imaging where artifacts and distortions arise due to the high local magnetic field inhomogeneity i. e., the susceptibility. The signal loss and void phenomena due to susceptibility in a voxel are studied and a correction method using a tailored RF pulse is proposed. Applications of this method in imaging are given and experimental results obtained using an human volunteer with a 2.0 T KAIS NMR system are presented.
Previous AC/DC PFC Boost Converter perceives feed forward signal of input and feedback signal of output for average current-mode control. Previous Boost Converter, the quantity of input current will be decreased by the decrease of output current in light load, and also power factor comes to be decreased. Also the efficiency of converter will be decreased by the decrease of power factor. The proposed converter presents the good PFC(Power Factor Correction), low line current hormonic distortions and tight output voltage regulations using non-dissipative snubber. The proposed converter also has a high efficiency by non-dissipative snubber circuit. To show the superiority of this converter is verified through the experiment with a 640W, 100kHz prototype converter.

Design of single stage AC/DC converter with high power factor for low power level applications is proposed. The proposed converter gives the good power factor correction, low line current harmonic distortions, and tight output voltage regulations. This converter also has a high efficiency by employing an active clamp method and synchronous rectifiers. To verify the performances of the proposed converter, a 90W-converter has been designed. The modelling of this proposed converter is power formed using an averaging technique and based on this model a detailed analysis is carried out. This prototype meets the IEC555-2 requirements satisfactorily with nearly unity power factor and high efficiency.
