The Need for Web Style Guide and a case study of this the Development in the Domestic University Web sites (국내 대학 웹사이트에서 스타일 가이드의 필요성과 개발 사례 분석)

  • From the early period of web design, there has discussed the need for style guide. But, it has not known specifically 'what it is' and 'how it should be applied'in the actual situation. Most web sites seem to be considered as 'would-be-same or similar'in those impressions. In case of domestic companies or corporations, the development of web style guide has been established, in addition to the trials to adopt Cl(corperate identity) into the web sites. In the universities, with the advent of the era of unlimited competitions among the universities, the need and the importance of web sites has been increasingly emphasized because most internet users, teenagers and twenties, have great interests in the universities and they actually constitute the university societies. But, in reality, the effort to adopt Ul(university identity) into the web sites has left so much to be desired. As one methodology, reflecting the characteristics of the university web sites and the financial reasons, it is assorted that the development of 'web style guide'is urgent. This report explains web style guide and its importance, in addition to the suggestion for the development of web style guide for the domestic university.

Directions for the Research and Education of Business Ethics (기업윤리에 관한 연구와 교육의 방향성 제시)

  • The importance of business ethics has been increased as time goes on. However, there are lacks of education and research in business ethics, domestically and internationally. Especially, in Korea, there are not many universities which teach business ethics as formal curriculum and there are not sufficient researches on business ethics. Also, the level of education of business ethics is only restricted to the type of case discussion and research of business ethics is focused only on one topic, corporate social responsibility which is only one of various and important topics in business ethics. Accordingly, as a qualitative research, this paper presents some directions that are essential to education and research in business ethics, discusses what has been educated and researched in business ethics, and proposes what are necessary for the future of education and research in business ethics. Based on this research, various researches which investigate various topics in business ethics are possible in the future.

Current Status and Policy Issues of Collaborations between Universities and Family Companies in Korea (대학과 가족회사의 산학협력 실태 및 활성화 방안)

  • Family companies are the unique industry-academic cooperation-related systems of Korean universities created by universities to promote various forms of industry-academic cooperation with companies. It is important to figure out the current status of family companies in order to understand the achievements of industrial-academic cooperation projects that have been actively pursued since the early 2000s. A lot of studies on industry-academic cooperation have focused mainly on the university's position. On the contrary, this study focuses on understanding the current status of the family company system and the status of industry-academic cooperation. Introduced in 2004, the Family Company System expanded rapidly as it was used as a performance indicator for college financial support projects related to industry-academic cooperation, with 174,425 companies registered as family companies as of 2017. A survey of family companies registered in universities carrying out the LINC+ project shows that companies registered in multiple universities are increasing, with relatively high demand and satisfaction for industry-academic cooperation among companies. Family companies were found to be relatively satisfied in terms of the use of R&D equipment or joint research, while they were relatively less satisfied in terms of workforce training and retraining. While companies have assessed product quality improvements through industry-academic cooperation, they have underestimated the effect of increasing sales and reducing production costs. Further, it was found that it was urgent to expand incentive systems and improve online information services to boost corporate participation in order to enhance the effectiveness of industry-academic cooperation.

An Introduction to the Office of Naval Research and its Activities in Manufacturing and Shipbuilding

  • The Office of Naval Research (ONR) coordinates, executes, and promotes the science and technology programs of the United States Navy and Marine Corps through universities, govemment laboratories, and nonprofit and for-profit organizations. ONR is active in basic research, applied research, and advanced technology development in a broad range of scientific and technical disciplines. This paper provides an introduction to ONR and to the shipbuilding-related efforts in its Industrial and Corporate Programs Department and International Field Office. ONR's shipbuilding activities focus on improving technology and manufacturing processes while reducing fleet costs. Approaches to the management of technology and innovation in naval shipbuilding are discussed, and opportunities and mechanisms for international collaboration in technical areas of interest to the international shipbuilding community are highlighted.

  • Consumers want to get healthful food which guarantee the aging control, anti-tumor, immunity-reinforcement, obesity prevention, beauty, prevention of adult disease and well-being. Because they want natural foods without food additives and environmental pollution which were used for convenience, we should develop the various food to guarantee the safety, wholesomeness and convenience. And so, we must study and identify basically the functionality and sanitation in foods to use practically. The companies should develop new products and corporate with universities and government. Because there are much more food informations, people believe unidentified information and continue wrong behavior such as food faddism. Consequently consumers should choose wisely their foods in consideration of their health, time, money and purpose.

  • Technology has always been the force multiplier that influenced production and effected increase in the standard of living. The difficult choices involved in developing and implementing new technologies are recognized, but the right choice is rarely well defined and progress is often subject trial and error. The process of managing technologies to create wealth is called MOT. MOT is proposed as the central link for knowledge drawn from engineering, business, science, and corporate practice. One academic response to global competition is the creation of graduate program in MOT that have different academic and experience requirements. The purposes of this paper can be divided into two categories: how about the realities of MOT programs in Korea and what is the recommendation for universities to introduce this program.

A Case Study on Working Clothes Design Development - focused on D Enterprise - (기업의 이미지 전략에 따른 근무복 디자인 개발 연구 - D 기업사레를 중심으로 -)

  • This study is largely aimed at presenting ways to improve the working clothes and help companies create more positive images by suggesting designs of the clothes, which take into accounts the corporate image, symbolism, function and aesthetic appreciation through introduction of companies' CIP. And, it is significant to propose working clothes development condition and process with introduction of companies' CIP(Corporate Identity Program : work that systematize and simplify visually images which companies or public bodies have) A way of this study was made up with working clothes design development process which a student planned. First of all, this study looked into Company D's Corporate Identity Program(CIP) to develop the design that corresponds with the characteristics of the company's favorite design, working environment and demands of the employees. And, then, the study conducted a survey of 30 employees and intensive interviews with heads of four teams including the Safety Team, the Working Clothes Management Team and the General Affairs Team to find out the requirements of the clothes and the characteristics of the company. Based on them, the concrete image that the company pursues and the direction of design were set up through image positioning. In the end, three different concept designs were presented through image-mapping and the concrete design of each item was developed. A total of seven items including upper and lower garments (a jacket and trousers) for the spring-summer seasons, upper and lower garments (a jumper and trousers) for the winter season, cold-protecting vest and winter clothes (a coat and trousers) were presented in accordance with the three concepts. One of the concept designs, which was selected through evaluation by employees of Company D, was produced as a sample and then the final design was chosen after a discussion attended by the head of each team and representatives of the employees. Based on the aforementioned design planning, one design was selected from each of the three concept designs for production. And each of these was requested to special production enterprise and manufactured. Following the result of study, by looking into a case of a practical joint design project between a university and a company, this study suggested ideas for business to improve working clothes through the academic-industrial cooperation and presented conditions and process of design development. And, this study also aims to examine the feasibility of academic-industrial cooperation based on the cases in which enterprises and universities staged joint projects to develop working clothes.

  • RnD Service firms are the innovative company that supports innovation, determines the healthy ecosystem in the high tech business sector. RnD service also brings up a regional innovation through the business ecosystem. This study conducted a case study RnD Service firms leading to the activation of high tech industry. We analyze the role of the RnD Service firms through reports and interviews with corporate managers. We understand the growth process was RnD Service firms, and identify the cost of organizing. RnD Service firms are independent economy, but was also a problem that appears is dependent on universities and research institutions sometimes. When the subject of a regional innovation take place the RnD Service sector, It should be noted that the emergence of innovative business. RnD Service model should not be developed by universities and public institutions, it should be a technology development model that occur between companies.

  • Recently, it is entering the hyper connectivity age due to the development of sensor and communication technology. In particular, it is emerging new industries such as the IoT, bigdata, cloud by convergence with the ICT and other industries. Because these industries are high the gravity of the software, the demand for software manpower is increasing rapidly. But university curriculum don't deviate from the traditional curriculum, and lack of positive response to these changes is occurring a mismatch with the industry demand. In this paper, investigate a software curriculums of the four-year university, and will attempt to investigate the perception about the university software course of the corporate perspective. Also, we draw a on-site fitness of universities training course by analysis of importance on software training courses between universities and businesses. Finally, we propose a strategy model for software training course design appropriate for the field.

  • This study aims to develop furniture industry in eastern district of Gangwondo and a city of Gangneung and Donghae. Case study on furniture complex in Asahikawa, Japan and survey of furniture companies in Gangneung and Donghae city were implemented for understanding of present state, followed by analysis of problems. It can be summarized as follows. First, the basic operation method of Japanese furniture industry is to keep a balance between industry and academy. Universities or centers are in charge of education and fostering talents, such as allowing to promote and to sell products in design center gallery while corporations support it by lending expensive devices and conducting strength test analysis. Second, according to the survey of furniture companies in Gangneung, many difficulties in products development such as a shortage of designer, method, creative design were discovered. With respect to education and human force fostering, education for design and e-commerce were not sufficient, also marketing section has a problem with limited space for display and selling. Corporate support section is facing problems in receiving raw materials, aging of facilities, manufacturing and management methods. Consequently, it is considered that academic and industrial sections should implement their own roles by forming a bilateral network which connects local universities, high schools, relevant organization in the city and providence and furniture manufacturing companies to companies' product development, human force fostering and marketing in an attempt to activate the furniture industry in this area.
