When a strong electric field is applied between a sharply curved electrode and a blunt surface, the corona may result in a gas movement in the electrode gap which is directed toward the blunt surface. That is called the corona wind. It enhances heat and mass transfer between the surface and the surrounding gas. Moreover such enhancement causes no noise or vibration, which can be applied in complex, isolated geometries, and allows simple control of surface temperatures. This paper examines the relationship between the corona wind and the relative humidity. The facility consists of high voltage power supply thin tungsten wire, plate electrode, multimeter, microammeter and flow meter. Gas velocity is a linear function of voltage, relative humidity and is proportional to the square root of the current. The maximum velocities for the positive and negative corona discharge are 1.9 m/s (2.74 CMM/m), 1.5 m/s(2.15 CMM/m), respectively.
When dielectric surface electric field exceed any electric field strength on air, corona discharge is occurred from the dielectric surface. This paper presents corona discharge phenomena on the dielectric in high field were studied under application of ${\pm}DC$ voltage, constitute of the point to plane 20mm gap. The results obtained in experimental are summarized as follow :(1) Corona pulse is appeared periodically after first corona pulse is occurred and the number of corona pulse increases with the instantaneous applied voltage but peak value is not changed greatly.(2)Applied voltage to beccrite and characteristics and peak value of current are almost a straight line. That kind of tendency accorded with characteristics of beccrite resistance.(3)In case of Positive corona, Positive streamers, were progressed greatly to plane electrodes but In case of negative corona, negative streamers smaller than that of Positive corona.

Nano composite materials were multi-constituent combinations of nano dimensional phases with distinct differences in structure, chemistry and properties. Nano particles were less likely to create large stress concentrations and thereby can avoid the compromise of the material ductility while improve other mechanical properties. Corona discharge was an electrical discharge. The ionization of a fluid surrounding a conductor was electrically energized. This discharge would occur when the strength of the electric field around the conductor was high enough to form a conductive region, but not high enough to cause electrical breakdown or arcing to nearby objects. This paper shows all the studies done on the preparation of nano fillers. Special attention has given to the ACSR transmission line conductor, TiO2 nano fillers and also to the evaluation of corona resistance on dielectric materials discussed in detail. The measurement of the dielectric properties of the nano fillers and the parameters influencing them were also discussed in the paper. Corona discharge test reveals that in 0%N ACSR sample corona loss was directly proportional to the applied line voltage. No significant change in corona loss between 0%N and 1%N. When TiO2 nano filler concentration was increased up to 10%N fine decrement in corona loss was found when compared to base ACSR conductor, corona loss was decreased by 40.67% in 10%N ACSR sample. It was also found from the surface conditions test that inorganic TiO2 nano filler increases the key parameters like tensile strength and erosion depth.
The object of this project is to manifest the mechanism of deterioration phenomena for dielectrics causing corona discharge and applies it for determine the standard corona detection technique. As the results, we observed that corona discharges may occur more strongly around cylindrical shape electrode in air than hemisphere shape electrode in vacuum, so that it depends on effects such as shape of the electrode, moisture, surface coditions, etc. According to observed the deterioration of dielectrics takes place in following stages. At first the attacked surface by an electron avalanche is uniformly eroded; then pits are formed; after that sharp channels are formed which lead to break-down as a treeing. The test are accelerated with higher frequencies by the cylindrical bar shape electrode in the pulse stright detection method more sensitive than Lissajous patterns. Lissajous patterns detection method is simple but usually insensitive and has disadvantage that the magnitude of the individual discharge is not measured.
This paper deals with multiresolution analysis of wavelet transform for partial discharge(PD), both corona and surface discharge. Multiresolution analysis was used for performing discrete wavelet transform. PD signals was decomposed into "approximation" and "detail" components until 4 levels by using discrete wavelet analysis. In this paper, daubechies family is adopted for the research of the characteristics of PD signals. The results show that in corona discharge the segment 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 values of defined variable is increased with discharge process, so phase distribution is characterized by 210~330 ranges. In case surface discharge in expoxy insulator inserted, defined variable values is fairly symmetric discharge pattern because coupled both corona and dielectric bounded discharges. We can confirmly discriminate the type PD source. the type PD source.
This paper studies flashover voltage and surface corona loss of A.C and D.C in the mixed gas of air and SF$_{6}$ for solid insulators P.V.C, arcylic, glass and bakelite in two cases. In one case, those solids are covered with transformer oil and the other case, those solids are not covered with it. 1) The flashover voltage for each solids in SF$_{6}$ is more than three times compared with that in the air. The flashover voltage for P.V.C is the highest and then arcylic, glass, bakelite in a decreasing order. 2) The more the amount of SF$_{6}$ in the mixing ratio, the less corona loss. The P.V.C shows the least amount of corona loss and the bakelite the largest. 3) Compared with the corona loss of positive polarity and the negative polarity, the former has less corona loss than the latter. 4) The more the number of flashover discharge, the less insulation of each solids, but in case of bakelite, insulation almost vanishes after a couple of discharge. 5) When each insulator is covered with transformer oil, the flashover voltage generally increases and the corona loss decreases.eases.
This study is concerned with the graft polymerization of acrylamide onto the surfaces of polyethylene and polyethylene terephthalate films treated with on corona discharge. In the case, peroxides formed by the corona discharge treatment are likely to be the species responsible for initiating the graft polymerization. This treatment produced a continuous charge in wettability and also amid group density on the polymer surface, as evidenced by water contact angle measurement, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy in the attenuated total reflectance mode, and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis. Both of the merely corona-treated film and the subsequently grafted film are discussed as a function of time after treatment and water washings.
In this study, the characteristic of charging current which flows into the polymer by applying the corona discharge carriers on the polymer surface was measured, so as to investigate the phenomenon of charge injection and movement if injected charge on polymer. Also. the characteristics of discharge current which flows by shorting both sides of corona charged polymers were measured. Experimental results are as follows; The amount of charges injected by corona discharge vary according to the state of surface and the type of carriers, and then the charging current varies according to the properties of injected carriers.
Experiments were carried out the phenomenal observation on effect of corona treated hotmelt laminating film in process of manufacture by 2 kinds of rolling speed and electric power variatons. Surface treatment by corona which is exposure of film surface to electron of ion bombardment, rather than mere exposure to active species, like atomic oxygen or ozone, can enhance adhesion by removing contaminant, electret, roughening surface, and introducing reactive chemical group. Reactive neutrals, ions, electron and photons generated during the corona treatment interact simultaneously with polymers to alter surface chemical composition, wettability, and thus film adhesion. However, it is highly recommended that extensive chains scission is avoided because it can lead to side-effect by forming sticky matter, resulting in dropouts. This paper reviews principles of surface preparation of polypropylene substrate by corona discharging. In addition, the experimental section provides a description of parameter optimization on corona discharging treatment and its side-effect. Experimental results are discussed in terms of surface wetting as determined by contact angle and SEM measurements. When the rolling speed of the film decreased from 1.666 [m / sec] to 0.083 [m / sec], contact angle decreased from $80[^{\circ}]$ to $64[^{\circ}]$, and the wettability was greatly improved. As the supply power increased from 0.4 [kVA] to 2 [kVA] at the corona discharge surface treatment, the contact angle decreased from $77[^{\circ}]$ to $65[^{\circ}]$, and the wettability was greatly improved.
Studies were carried out the phenomenal observation on the effect of corona treated hotmelt laminating film in process of manufacture by 2 kinds of experiments. These are as follow: 1) In order to verify the treatment reducing value of dynes and dynes durability with the lapse of time, it was checked dynes of a pair of 4 bar discharge electrode with 9 one for 144 hr., and it show results that 9 bar discharge electrode has higher initial dynes as well as keep up 48 dynes durability long than 4 one. 2) Drawn an inference from 3 actions -Chemical-Physical-Mechanical, on laminating film in terms of SEM's observation that are the adhesive status in boundary of corona treated base film, extrusion coating hotmelt layer, and configuration of hotmelt surface after corona treated. In tandem system, EVA layers adhesion keep its stability without corona discharge treatment.
