The monitoring of urban area, target detection and building reconstruction have been actively studied and investigated since high resolution X-band SAR images could be acquired by airborne and/or satellite SAR systems. This paper describes an efficient approach to reconstruct artificial structures (e.g. apartment, building and house) in urban area using high resolution X-band SAR images. Building footprint was first extracted from 1:25,000 digital topographic map and then a corner line of building was detected by an automatic detecting algorithm. With SAR amplitude images, an initial building height was calculated by the length of layover estimated using KS-test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test) from the corner line. The interferometric SAR phases were simulated depending on SAR geometry and changable building heights ranging from -10 m to +10 m of the initial building height. With an interferogram from real SAR data set, the simulation results were compared using the method of the phase consistency. One of results can be finally defined as the reconstructed building height. The developed algorithm was applied to repeat-pass TerraSAR-X spotlight mode data set over an apartment complex in Daejeon city, Korea. The final building heights were validated against reference heights extracted from LiDAR DSM, with an RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) of about 1~2m.

In this paper, we designed a beta ray sensor for a true random number generator. Instead of biasing the gate of the PMOS feedback transistor to a DC voltage, the current flowing through the PMOS feedback transistor is mirrored through a current bias circuit designed to be insensitive to PVT fluctuations, thereby minimizing fluctuations in the signal voltage of the CSA. In addition, by using the constant current supplied by the BGR (Bandgap Reference) circuit, the signal voltage is charged to the VCOM voltage level, thereby reducing the change in charge time to enable high-speed sensing. The beta ray sensor designed with 0.18㎛ CMOS process shows that the minimum signal voltage and maximum signal voltage of the CSA circuit which are resulted from corner simulation are 205mV and 303mV, respectively. and the minimum and maximum widths of the pulses generated by comparing the output signal through the pulse shaper with the threshold voltage (VTHR) voltage of the comparator, were 0.592㎲ and 1.247㎲, respectively. resulting in high-speed detection of 100kHz. Thus, it is designed to count up to 100 kilo pulses per second.
My research is based on the parser for ill-formed input by Mellish in a paper in ACL 27th meeting Proceedings. 1989. My system is composed of two parsers:WFCP and IFCP. When WFCP fails to give the parse tree for the input sentence, the sentence is identified as ill-formed and is parsed by IFCP for error detection and recovery at the syntactic level. My system is indendent of grammatical rules. It does not take into account semantic ill-formedness. My system uses a grammar composed of 25 context-free rules. My system consistes of two major parsing strategies:top-down expection and bottem-up satisfaction. With top-down expectation. rules are retrieved under the inference condition and expaned by inactive arcs. When doing bottom-up parsing. my parser used two modes:Left-Right parsing and Right-to-Left parsing. My system repairs errors sucessfully when the input contains an omitted word or an unknown word substitued for a valid word. Left- corner and right-corner errors are more easily detected and repaired than ill-formed senteces where the error is in teh middle. The deviance note. with repair details, is kept in new inactive arcs which are generated by the error correction procedure. The implementation of my system is quite different from Mellish's. When rules are invoked. my system invokes all rules with minimal inference. My bottom up parsing strategy uses Left-to-Right mode and Right-to-Left mode. My system is bottom-up-parsing-oriented like the chart parser. Errors are repaired in two ways:using top-down hypothesis, and using Need-Chart which keeps the information of expectation and complection of expanded goals by rules. To reduce the number of top-down cycles. all rules are invoked simultaneously and this invocation information is kept in Need-Chart. This idea will be extended for the implementation of multiple error recovery system.
In this paper we applied Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar(GB-SAR) interferometry to detect artificial displacement of a reflector and performed an atmospheric humidity correction to improve the accuracy. A series of GB-SAR images were obtained using a center frequency of 5.3 GHz with a range resolution of 25 cm and a azimuth resolution of $0.324^{\circ}$, all in full-polarization (HH, VV, VH, HV) modes. A triangular trihedral corner reflector was located 160 m away from the system, and the artificial displacements of 0-40 mm was implemented during the GB-SAR image acquisition. The result showed that the RMS error between the actual and measured displacements, averaged in all polarization data, was 1.22 mm, while the maximum error in case of the 40 mm displacement was 2.72 mm at HH-polarization. After the atmospheric correction with respect to the humidity, the RMS error was reduced to 0.52 mm. We conclude that a GB-SAR system can be used to monitor the possible displacement of artificial/natural scatterers and the stability assessment with sub-millimeter accuracy.
SAR ground moving target indicator (GMTI) has long been an important issue for SAR advanced applications. As spatial resolution of space-borne SAR system has been significantly improved recently, the GMTI becomes a very useful tool. Various GMTI techniques have been developed particularly using multi-channel SAR systems. It is, however, still problematic to detect ground moving targets within single channel SAR images while it is not practical to access high resolution multi-channel space-borne SAR systems. Once a ground moving target is detected, it is possible to retrieve twodimensional velocities of the target from single channel space-borne SAR with an accuracy of about 5 % if moving faster than 3 m/s. This paper presents a quick-and-dirty method for detecting ground moving targets from single channel SAR single-look complex (SLC) images by differentiation. Since the signal powers of derivatives present Doppler centroid and rate, it is very efficient and effective for detection of non-stationary targets. The derivatives correlate well with velocities retrieved by a precise method with a correlation coefficient $R^2$ of 0.62, which is well enough to detect the ground moving targets. While the approach is theoretically straightforward, it is necessary to remove the effects of residual Doppler rate before finalizing the ground moving target candidates. The confidence level of results largely depends on the efficiency and effectiveness of the residual Doppler rate removal method. Application results using TerraSAR-X and truck-mounted corner reflectors validated the efficiency of the method. While the derivatives of moving targets remain easily detectable, the signal energy of stationary corner reflectors was suppressed by about 18.5 dB. It results in an easy detection of ground targets moving faster than 8.8 km/h. The proposed method is applicable to any high resolution single channel SAR systems including KOMPSAT-5.
Recently, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys have been actively carried out for precise subsurface void investigation because of the rapid increase of subsidence in urban areas. However, since the interpretation of GPR data was conducted based on the interpreter's subjective decision after applying only the basic data processing, it can result in reliability problems. In this research, to solve these problems, we analyzed the difference between the events generated from subsurface voids and those of strong diffraction sources such as the buried pipeline by applying the edge detection technique, which is one of image processing technologies. For the analysis, we applied the image processing technology to the GRP field data containing events generated from the cavity or buried pipeline. As a result, the main events by the subsurface void or diffraction source were effectively separated using the edge detection technique. In addition, since subsurface voids associated with the subsidence has a relatively wide scale, it is recorded as a gentle slope event unlike the event caused by the strong diffraction source recorded with a sharp slope. Therefore, the directional analysis of amplitude variation in the image enabled us to effectively separate the events by the subsurface void from those by the diffraction source. Interpretation based on these kinds of objective analysis can improve the reliability. Moreover, if suggested techniques are verified to various GPR field data sets, these approaches can contribute to semiautomatic interpretation of large amount of GPR data.

In this paper, we propose the method that automatically extracts the silhouette and the joints of consecutive input image, and track joints to trace object for interaction between human and computer. Also the proposed method presents the action of human being to map human body using joints. To implement the algorithm, we model human body using 14 joints to refer to body size. The proposed method converts RGB color image acquired through a single camera to hue, saturation, value images and extracts body's silhouette using the difference between the background and input. Then we automatically extracts joints using the corner points of the extracted silhouette and the data of body's model. The motion of object is tracted by applying block-matching method to areas around joints among all image and the human's motion is mapped using positions of joints. The proposed method is applied to the test videos and the result shows that the proposed method automatically extracts joints and effectively maps human body by the detected joints. Also the human's action is aptly expressed to reflect locations of the joints
There have been studying many researches to detect human body and to track one with increasing interest on human and computer interaction. In this paper, we propose the algorithm that automatically extracts joints, linked points of human body, using the ratio of human body under single camera and tracks object. The proposed method gets the difference images of the grayscale images and ones of the hue images between input image and background image. Then the proposed method composes the results, splits background and foreground, and extracts objects. Also we standardize the ratio of human body using face' length and the measurement of human body and automatically extract joints of the object using the ratio and the corner points of the silhouette of object. After then, we tract the joints' movement using block-matching algorithm. The proposed method is applied to test video to be acquired through a camera and the result shows that the proposed method automatically extracts joints and effectively tracks the detected joints.

This paper addresses an adaptive postprocessing technique to remove blocking effects of the highly compressed images. The proposed technique removes blocking effects selectively by applying filters with different strength according to block analysis based on the directional activity. One-dimensional filters which are used to remove grid noises accomplish the adaptive filtering to the signal itself as well as to the directionality of the block. Moreover, we propose a detection method of the staircase noises and corner outliers and a two-dimensional directional filter to remove them. Experimental results for various images and bitrates show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional methods in PSNR for the objective performance and GBIM for the subjective quality evaluation.
In this paper, we could simply compute the user's gaze position based on 2D relations between the pupil center and four corneal specular reflections formed by four IR-illuminators attached on each corner of a monitor, without considering the complex 3D relations among the camera, the monitor, and the pupil coordinates. Therefore, the objectives of our paper are to detect the pupil center and four corneal specular reflections exactly and to compensate for error factors which affect the gaze accuracy. In our method, we compensated for the kappa error between the calculated gaze position through the pupil center and actual gaze vector. We performed one time user calibration to compensate when the system started. Also, we robustly detected four corneal specular reflections that were important to calculate gaze position based on Kalman filter irrespective of the abrupt change of eye movement. Experimental results showed that the gaze detection error was about 1.0 degrees though there was the abrupt change of eye movement.
