  • On the side of that necessity, it is known that the development of Amorphous metal take effects on lowering eddy current loss in a core system. If a amorphous transformer and a motor to which "Amorphous Metal" is applied be widespread, electricity saving should be enormous with the several hundreds billion won of economic effects like cutting the cost of power plants and the unhealthy gases. This paper carried out general evaluation about the characters of Amorphous metal, the expected energy saving effects of a amorphous transformer, the environmental contribution, the increasement of electricity quality, and the features of harmonic.

A Study on Thimble Plug Removal for PWR Plants

  • The thermal-hydraulic effects of removing the RCC guide thimble plugs are evaluated for 8 Westinghouse type PWR plants in Korea as a part of feasibility study: core outlet loss coefficient, thimble bypass flow, and best estimate flow. It is resulted that the best estimate thimble bypass flow increases about by 2% and the best estimate flow increases approximately by 1.2%. The resulting DNBR penalties can be covered with the current DNBR margin. Accident analyses are also investigated that the dropped rod transient is shown to be limiting and relatively sensitive to bypass flow variation.

  • In this paper, designs of an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) and its motor driver for 42V automotive air condition system are introduced. The characteristics of the IPMSM are predicted by using d-q equivalent circuit having the parameters, such as current phase angle, d-q axis inductances, core loss resistance, etc. The experimental and analysis results of the prototype are compared to show validity of the analysis method, and to give analyzed characteristics in detail. As the result, an improved IPMSM is designed to widen the operating speed limit of prototype; a cost effective AC drive are considered at the same time.

  • This paper describes the construction and test results of a 10kVA single phase HTS transformer. Double pancake windings with BSCCO-2223 HTS tape and GFRP cryostat with room temperature bore are used in the transformer. Two double pancake windings are connected in series to provide 184 turns and two double pancake windings are connected in parallel to conduct the secondary current of 45.4A. Coefficients of the constructed transformer are obtained using the fundamental tests of the transformer. According to the test results, larger leakage reactance than expected is observed due to the bulky core which surrounded the cryostat.

  • One of the major problems faced by the overhead conductor engineer is in the estimation of the loss in strength of conductors caused by long and short term exposures over a period years to elevated temperature. From the standpoint that the life of conductor is influnced by softening of Al wire, the life assessment of conductor was carried out. The aluminum components will be affected most in majority of conductors. The steel core if present will not be affected by temperatures below $225^{\circ}C$. The detailed description will be presented in the text.

  • This paper proposes a two-phase interleaved bridgeless single-stage ac-dc converter with magnetic integration that can achieve CCM power factor correction without input current sensing. All switches achieve ZVS turn-on and all diodes achieve ZCS turn-on for the whole grid cycle. SDAB-based modulation strategy is applied which results in simple power control and wide range output voltage. A flux cancellation method to integrate the interleaved transformer is firstly proposed in this paper to reduce the core size and loss. Experimental results on a 1.7-kW, 50kHz prototype are given to verify the principle and advantages of the proposed ac-dc converter.

  • Station Blackout(SBO) event means the complete loss of alternating current(AC) electrical power to the essential & nonessential switchgear buses in a nuclear power plants. Since many safety systems in nuclear power plants depend upon alternative current power, the SBO event could be an important contributor to damage of reactor core. Therefore, the SBO events have been considered as a very important safety issues in a nuclear power plants. In this paper, as evaluating the design characteristics of offsite & emergency power systems, an acceptable minimum SBO duration is calculated. And it is presented that the design method for alternative AC(AAC) sources to cope with the SBO events.

Comparison of the Characteristics in the Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet and Flux Concentrating Coaxial Magnetic Gears Having the Solid Cores

  • The coaxial magnetic gear with the flux concentrating structure is known that it has the torque performance advantage over the coaxial magnetic gear having surface mounted permanent magnet, thanks to the flux focusing effect. But, if the solid cores are used in the modulating pieces and rotor cores to consider the mechanical reliability and cost reduction, the operating torque of the flux concentrating coaxial magnetic gear can be significantly diminished because the iron losses at the solid cores affect the actual transmitted torque. Furthermore, the modulating pieces and rotor cores have different characteristics of the iron losses from one another, because the space harmonic components of the magnetic flux density, which cause the iron losses, are different. Thus, in this paper, we focused on the analysis of the characteristics of the space harmonic components of the magnetic flux density and resultant eddy current losses in the surface mounted PM and flux concentrating coaxial magnetic gears, when these coaxial magnetic gears have the solid cores at the modulating pieces and rotor cores. The characteristics of pull-out torque (static torque), operating torque (dynamic torque), and efficiency are also researched, and compared by the 3D finite element analysis (FEA) and experiment.

반응표면분석법을 이용한 전도성물질의 절연코팅 프로세스의 최적화 (Optimization of Process Variables for Insulation Coating of Conductive Particles by Response Surface Methodology)

  • 전도성 물질인 철 입자(iron particles)를 절연체로 코팅하여 제작한 압분자심(powder core)은 비저항이 작기 때문에 고주파 영역에서 와전류 손실이 크다. 이 결함을 해결하기 위해서는 압분자심의 비저항을 증가시킬 필요가 있다. 이 연구에서는 압분자심의 비저항을 증가시키기 위하여 유성볼밀을 사용하여 전기전도성 철 입자에 산화제2구리를 코팅하였다. 반응표면분석법을 사용하여 코팅변수를 최적화하였다. 최적화 시 인자는 CuO 질량분율, 밀 회전 수, 코팅시간, 볼 크기, 볼 질량, 시료 질량이며, 반응변수는 비저항이었다. 6인자-일부요인배치법에 의하면 주된 인자는 CuO 질량분율, 밀 회전 수, 코팅시간이었다. 3-인자 완전요인배치법과 최대경사법을 사용하여 3개 인자의 수준을 선정하였다. 최대경사법을 사용하여 최고의 비저항을 갖는 영역에 접근하였다. 최종적으로 Box-Behnken법을 사용하여 스크린한 인자들의 반응표면을 분석하였다. Box-Behnken법 결과에 의하면 CuO 질량분율과 밀 회전 수가 코팅공정 효율에 영향을 주는 주요 인자이었다. CuO 질량분율이 증가함에 따라 비저항은 증가하였다. 그에 반해서 밀 회전 수가 감소함에 따라 비저항은 증가하였다. 코팅공정을 최적화한 모델로부터 계산한 예측값과 실험값과는 통계적으로 유의하게 일치하였다($Adj-R^2=0.944$). 비저항의 최고값을 갖는 코팅조건은 CuO 질량분율은 0.4, 밀 회전 수는 200 rpm, 코팅시간은 15분이었다. 이 조건에서 코팅한 정제의 비저항 측정값은 $530k{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$이었다.
