In this paper, we numerically study both band-pass and band-stop plasmonic filters based on Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) waveguides and circular ring resonators. The band-pass filter consists of two MIM waveguides coupled to each other by a circular ring resonator. The band-stop filter is made up of an MIM waveguide coupled laterally to a circular ring resonator. The propagating modes of Surface Plasmon Polaritons (SPPs) are studied in these structures. By substituting a portion of the ring core with air, while the outer dimensions of the ring resonator are kept constant, we illustrate the possibility of red-shift in resonant wavelengths in order to tune the resonance modes of the proposed filters. This feature is useful for integrated circuits in which we have limitations on the outer dimensions of the filter structure and it is not possible to enlarge the dimension of the ring resonator to reach to longer resonant wavelengths. The results are obtained by a 2D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The introduced structures have potential applications in plasmonic integrated circuits and can be simply fabricated.

New classes of LC resonators for micro magnetic sensor device were proposed and fabricated. The first type LC resonator (Type I) consists of a small piece of microwire and two cylindrical electrodes at the end of the microwire without direct contact to its ferromagnetic core. In type I resonator the ferromagnetic core of the microwire and cylindrical electrodes act as an inductor and two capacitors respectively to form a LC circuit. The second type LC resonator (Type II) consists of a solenoidal micro-inductor with a bundle of soft magnetic microwires as a core. The solenoidal micro-inductors fabricated by MEMS technique were $500\sim1,000\;\mu{m}$ in length with $10\sim20$ turns. A capacitor is connected in parallel to the micro-inductor to form a LC circuit. A tiny glass coated $CO_{83.2}B_{3.3}Si_{5.9}Mn_{7.6}$ microwire was fabricated by a glass-coated melt spinning technique. A supergiant magneto-impedance effect was found in a type I resonator as much as 400,000% by precise tuning frequency at around 518.51 MHz. In type II resonator the changes of inductance as a function of external magnetic field in micro-inductors with properly annealed microwire cores were varied as much as 370%. The phase angle between current and voltage was also strongly dependent on the magnetic field. The drastic increments of magnetoimpedance at near the resonance frequency were observed in both types of LC resonators. Accordingly, the sudden change of the phase angle, as large as $180^{\circ}C$, evidenced the occurrence of the resonance at a given external magnetic field.
Honeycomb panel has a constructive advantage because it is constructed with a honeycomb core, so it has relatively higher strength ratio to weight. Therefore honeycomb panel has been used as the light weight panels in the high-speed railway technology and high-speed ship like as cruise yachts. Also it has been used in the aircraft and aerospace industry as a structural panel because light weight structure is indispensible in that field of industry. Recently, the honeycomb panel is embossed in the viewpoints of high oil prices as the lightweight panel of the transport machine, however the sound insulation capacity of the honeycomb panel is poorer than those of uniform and another sandwich panels. In this paper a method to improving the sound absorption coefficient of a honeycomb panel Is studied by using the Helmholtz resonator. The sound absorption coefficients for some kinds of honeycomb cores are demonstrated by the normal incident absorption coefficient method.

A triple-band (TB) oscillator was implemented in the TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ 1P6M CMOS process, and it uses a cross-coupled nMOS pair and two shunt $4^{th}$ order LC resonators to form a $6^{th}$ order resonator with three resonant frequencies. The oscillator uses the varactors for band switching and frequency tuning. The core current and power consumption of the high (middle, low)- band core oscillator are 3.59(3.42, 3.4) mA and 2.4(2.29, 2.28) mW, respectively at the dc drain-source bias of 0.67V. The oscillator can generate differential signals in the frequency range of 8.04-8.68 GHz, 5.82-6.15 GHz, and 3.68-4.08 GHz. The die area of the triple-band oscillator is $0.835{\times}1.103mm^2$.
Design and fabrication of a TCRR (Triple-coupler Ring Resonator) filter which can provide a doubled FSR (Free Spectral Range) compared with a conventional DCRR (Double-coupler Ring Resonator) filter, are discussed. Through the use of a polymer material with a good thermo-optic property and with high contrast between core and cladding polymer, a compact TCRR filter composed of straight and curved buried waveguides of small radius is designed and fabricated. The transmission characteristics from the through and drop ports are measured using a tunable laser and a fiber array block, and the FSR is observed to be 4.4 nm, about twice that of DCRR filter, and almost the same as that obtained from the analysis using a transfer matrix method.

Transmission spectra are measured from waveguide-coupled ring resonators fabricated with SiNx on SiO2. By using ring resonators with various radii and several index contrasts, the behavior of the quality factors is investigated. As the index contrast decreases, the dominant loss is from scattering for a large resonator, while that changes from scattering loss to bending loss for a small resonator. We verify that the quality factor can be drastically improved by reducing the index contrast in large ring resonators.

For a double-walled carbon nanotube resonator with a short outer nanotube, the free edge of the short outer wall plays an important role in the vibration of the long inner nanotube. For a double-walled carbon nanotube resonator with a short inner nanotube, the short inner nanotube can be considered as a flexible core, thus, the fundamental frequency is influenced by its length. In this paper, we analysis frequency variation in ultrahigh frequency nanomechanical resonators based on double-walled carbon nanotubes with different wall length. This results will widely apply to the realization of frequency devices controlling the length of the inner or outer nanotube.

A new class of LC-resonator for micro magnetic sensor device was invented and fabricated by means of MEMS technique. The micro LC-resonator consists of a solenoidal micro-inductor with a bundle of soft magnetic microwire cores and a capacitor connected in parallel to the micro-inductor. The core magnetic material is a tiny glass coated $Co_{83.2}B_{3.3}Si_{5.9}Mn_{7.6}$ microwire fabricated by a glasscoated melt spinning technique. The core materials were annealed at various temperatures $150^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C\;,250^{\circ}C\;,$ and $300^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour in a vacuum to improve soft magnetic properties. The solenoidal micro-inductors fabricated by MEMS technique were $500{\sim}1,000{\mu}m$ in length with $10{\sim}20$ turns. The changes of inductance as a function of external magnetic field in micro-inductors with properly annealed microwire cores were varied as much as 370%. Since the permeability of ultra soft magnetic microwire is changing rapidly as a function of external magnetic field. The inductance ratio as well as magnetoimpedance ratio (MIR) in a LC-resonator was varied drastically as a function of external magnetic field. The MIR curves can be tuned very precisely to obtain maximum sensitivity. A prototype magnetic sensor device consisting of the developed microinductors with a multivibrator circuit was test successfully.
In this study, the LC resonators were fabricated with ferrite cores and external capacitors, and then their characteristics were investigated for the purpose of developing new displacement sensor. The frequency dependence of impedance of single resonator was estimated. There were two resonance peaks on the impedance spectrum; one by self inductance and the other by mutual inductance. The resonance frequency was shifted linearly in direct proportion to displacement of the resonator showing the proposed device, a pair of LC resonators, could be used a precision displacement sensor.

A refractometric glucose biosensor incorporating a vertically coupled microring resonator in polymers was proposed and realized. The ring was covered with a target analyte of glucose solution with a certain concentration, so that its effective refractive index could be altered and, as a result, the resonance wavelength of the sensor was shifted. Therefore the concentration of the glucose solution can be estimated by observing the shift in the resonance wavelength. Two schemes were exploited for enhancing the sensitivity of the sensor. First, the effective refractive index of the polymeric waveguide used for the resonator sensor was adjusted to approach that of the target analyte as best as possible. Second, the ring waveguide, which serves as a crucial sensing part, was appropriately over-etched to enlarge its contact area with the analyte. The proposed resonator sensor was designed with the beam propagation method. The refractive indices of the core and cladding polymer involved were 1.430 and 1.375 respectively, leading to the waveguide's effective refractive index of ${\sim}1.390$, which is faiirly close to that of the glucose solution of ${\sim}1.333$. The prepared ring resonator with the $400-{\mu}m$ radius exhibited the free spectral range of 0.66 nm, the bandwidth of 0.15 nm, and the quality factor of 10,000. For the sensor operating at 1,550 nm wavelength, the achieved sensitivity was as great as 0.28 pm/(mg/dL), which is equivalent to 200 nm/RIU.
