  • This study started with the need for transition to competency-based education as well as the witness of fast changes in fashion industry's job environment. The goals of this study were (1) to explore fashion designers' competencies that are necessary for a successful careers in global fashion industry, and (2) to establish fashion designer competency model. In-depth individual interviews were conducted with 15 participants who have charged for design department and moreover have shown high performance in national, licence or designer brands in Korea fashion industry. Grounded theory was adopted to analyze data. As a result of analysis, the 4 core competencies emerged: problem-solving, research, inter-personal, and self-development. Each core competency has sub-competencies. Creativity, commerciality, control, decision making were sub-competencies for the problem-solving competency. Information management, innovation understanding & application, trend analysis & forecasting were sub-competencies for the research competency. Consumer, inside company, and outside company relationships were sub-competencies for the inter-personal competency. Self-awareness, self-management, expertise were sub-competencies for the self-development competency. In order to acquire these competencies, knowledge (academic, practical, multi-discipline), skills (sense, analysis, synthesis, communication), and attitude (interest, enjoyment, perseverance, personality) were essential. Based on these findings, implications for university fashion design education and further research areas were suggested.

  • Substituted imidazolidin-2-ones deduced as potential inhibitors of IleRS by docking simulations were synthesized from an aziridine-2-carboxaldehyde. Reductive amination of an aziridine-2-carboxaldehyde with dipeptides for the substituents at N1 and followed by aziridine-ring expansion with triphosgene afforded 4-chloromethylimidazolidin-2-ones whose chloride were further manipulated towards phenylurea, pyrimidin-2-yl-urea or benzenesulfonamide at C4.

  • Up-to-date enlargement of the scale of global outsourcing has brought about the need of systematic and efficient tools for competitive supplier discovery located in various areas. A web-based business supporting system, referred to as Excellent Manufacturer Scouting System(EMSS), is being developed to serve core business functions including supplier discovery, negotiation, and collaboration between overseas buyers and domestic suppliers throughout the process of supply chain formation. In this paper, a supplier assessment model devoted to evaluation of core manufacturing capability is proposed by targeting small and medium sized mold companies. The assessment model will eventually be loaded to EMSS. Even if many well-designed models for supplier assessment have been presented in literature, most of them limit the evaluation criteria to somewhat general information on a given supplier, such as cost, delivery time, quality, rather than core manufacturing capability itself. This research is pioneering work on supplier assessment from the viewpoint of manufacturability. The proposed assessment model classifies assessment indices into six criteria, which have been drawn by intensive survey and analysis of the mold industry. Actual assessment indices for each criterion are also presented along with an exemplary evaluation result.

  • The usage of textile-based sensors has increased due to their many advantages (compared to IT sensors) when applied to body assessment and comfort. Textile-based sensors have different detecting factors such as pressure, voltage, current and capacitance to investigate the characteristics. In this study, textile-based sensor fabrics with sheath-core type conductive yarns were produced and the relationship between capacitance changes and applied load was investigated. The physical and electric properties of textile-based sensor fabrics were also investigated under various laminating conditions. A textile based pressure sensor that uses a sheath-core conductive yarn to ensure the stability of the pressure sensor in the textile-based sensor (the physical structure of the reaction characteristic of the capacitance) is important for the stability of the initial value of the initial capacitance value outside the characteristic of the textile structural environment. In addition, a textile based sensor is displaced relative to the initial value of the capacitance change according to pressure changes in the capacitance value of the sensor due to the fineness of the high risk of noise generation. Changing the physical structure of the fabric through the sensor characteristic of the pressure sensor via the noise generating element of laminating (temperature, humidity, and static electricity) to cut off the voltage output element to improve the data reliability could be secured.

  • Whole, bast and core fibers of kenaf cultivar Tainung-2 were pulped under different pulping methods, thermomechanical and kraft pulping methods. The physical and optical properties of kenaf TMP(thermomechanical pulp) and KP(kraft pulp) handsheets were investigated and the results from the study are summarized as follows: Yields of TMP and KP were $77{\sim}87%\;and\;43{\sim}52%$, respectively. There was no significant change in apparent density between kenaf KP and USKP(unbleached softwood kraft pulp) but TMP showed a little lower apparent density. Bast pulp had the lowest apparent density regardless of pulping methods. Tensile strength of kenaf KP was higher than that of TMP but similar to that of USKP. Both TMP and KP handsheets of bast fraction showed the highest tear strengths among whole, bast, and core fractions. Core fraction showed the lowest tear strengths under different pulping methods. In general burst strength of kenaf pulp under different pulping methods was lower than that of USKP, and kenaf pulp had better stiffness than USKP. Brightness of kenaf KP and TMP was higher than that of USKP. There was no significant variation in opacity between kenaf pulp and USKP even though kenaf pulp showed a little lower opacity. The main difference in paper quality between the core fiber and bast fiber is derived from the fact that bast fiber is long and thin, whereas core fiber is short and thick.

  • The point we made in this paper is that, although detailed and precise three-dimensional (3D) whole-core transport calculations may be obtained in the future with massively parallel computers, they would have an application to only some of the problems of the nuclear industry, more precisely those regarding multiphysics or for methodology validation or nuclear safety calculations. On the other hand, typical design reactor cycle calculations comprising many one-point core calculations can have very strict constraints in computing time and will not directly benefit from the advances in computations in large scale computers. Consequently, in this paper we review some of the deterministic 3D transport methods which in the very near future may have potential for industrial applications and, even with low-order approximations such as a low resolution in energy, might represent an advantage as compared with present industrial methodology, for which one of the main approximations is due to power reconstruction. These methods comprise the response-matrix method and methods based on the two-dimensional (2D) method of characteristics, such as the fusion method.

  • Nowadays, for the competitive power of an enterprise, there are many attempts to implement information system that could support business innovation by business process re-engineering. However, there is no effort to standardize the core business processes of enterprise based on standards of data, documents. These facts make it difficult to introduce and implement enterprise information system designed by business processes of the higher level. Therefore, standardization of business process by analyzing the functionality and relationships among them are important and necessary. The results of our research are summarized as process-driven standardization (standardization of core business processes) and development of a repository. In process-driven standardization, we proposed the reference model by analyzing the business processes of the leading enterprises for core business processes. The reference model focuses on core business processes, such as sales management, procurement management, production management, logistics management, and customer support in manufacturing industry. We developed a knowledge-based system as a repository for a integrated management system of business process. And this repository was built up web-based system for the purpose of both reference and management.

  • In the present work, we proposed an analytical study on buckling behavior of a sandwich plate with polymeric core integrated with piezo-electro-magnetic layers such as BaTiO3 and CoFe2O4 reinforced by graphene platelets (GPLs). The Halpin-Tsai micromechanics model is used to describe the properties of the polymeric core. The governing equations of equilibrium are obtained from first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and the Navier's method is employed to solve the equations. The results show the effect of different parameters such as thickness, length, weight fraction of GPLs, and also effect of electric and magnetic field on critical buckling load. The result of this study can be obtained in the aerospace industry and also in the design of sensors and actuators.
