장애아 어머니의 자아존중감, 스트레스 및 대처행동간의 관계 (The Relations Among Self-esteem, Stress and Coping Behaviors of Mothers with Handicapped Children)

  • Objective : The purposes of this study were two-fold; First it investigated self-esteem, stress and coping behaviors of mothers with handicapped children as a function of their and their children's characteristics; Second it examined the relationship among these variables. Method : The subjects were 294 mothers of handicapped children who were receiving treatment in one of the sixteen special therapy institutions in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Gangwon-do. Rosenberg's(1965) Self-Esteem Scale translated by Jeon Byung-Jea(1974) was used to measure the degree of mothers' self-esteem. Mothers' stress was assessed using the Support Burden Scale revised by Seong Jong-sook(2000) and their coping behavior was examined using Folkman's(1986) Coping Scale translated by Jeon Sung-hye. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson's Correlation. Result : The major results of this study were as follows; First, working mothers of handicapped children showed higher self-esteem and problem solving coping behavior more than non-working mothers. Self-esteem was found higher with high-income mothers than with low-income ones. Stress was shown more intense to low- and middle-income mothers than to high-income ones. Problem solving coping behavior was preferred more by high-and middle-income mothers than by low-income ones. Second, mothers with the mild-handicap children showed higher self-esteem than those with the first-degree handicap ones. Mothers of children with first-, second- and third-degree handicap perceived more stress than those with mild handicap. Coping behavior was significantly different depending on the severity of children's handicap, but no significant difference was found among the groups. Third, the higher the self-esteem of mothers was, the less they perceived stress and used more of problem solving coping behavior. When mothers perceived a great deal of stress, they used more of emotion-oriented coping behaviors.

일 전문대 학생들의 스트레스 지각과 대처방식, A/B성격 특성간의 관계 (The Relationship among Perceived Stress, Ways of Coping, and Type A/B Personality of College Students)

  • This was designed to identify the relationship among perceived stress, ways of coping, and type A/B personality of college students. The subjects of this study were 279 from one nursing department and one non-nursing department of junior college in Daejon. and the data were collected from June 5 to 9, 2000. The instruments for this study were the Adolescent Life Change Event Questionnaire developed by Mendez, Yeaworth, York(1982) ways of coping scale developed by Lazarus and Folkman(1984), and the type A/B person-ality scale developed by Vickers(1973). The data were analyzed by utilizing SPSS/PC+ program and the results were as follows : 1. The relationship between 2, 3 grade of nursing curriculum and type A personality revealed a positive significant correlation(p=.021). 2. The subjects perceived high stress in the order of stress related to opposite sex, family, friend, self, school. 3. The subjects revealed that they have the use of stress coping in the order of aesthetic thinking, social support, problem-force, emotion-force coping. 4. There was significant difference in perceived stress according to curriculum(p=.000). 5. There was significant difference in ways of stress coping according to personality type(p=.012). 6. 1) There was positive relationship between stress related to school and problem-force coping, and between stress related to opposite sex and emotion-force coping, 2) There was positive relationship between type A personality and problem-force coping, and social support, and aesthetic thinking coping, respectively.

초등학교 5․6학년 학생의 인터넷 중독과 스트레스 대처행동과의 관계 (Relationship of Internet Addiction and Stress Coping Behaviors among the 5th.6th Graders in Primary School)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between internet addiction and stress coping behaviors among the 5th․6th graders Methods : there were 609 5th․6th graders from 13 school located in Jeongeup city and the data were collected from June 1-10, 2004. Research instrument to test internet addiction was 4-points summated scale composed of 20-items and the instrument to examine stress coping behaviors was also 4-points summated scale composed of 30-items. The data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, χ2-test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and multiple regression analysis using SPSS/PC 10.0. Results : The results were as follows: 1.The degree of internet addiction were 2.4% of addiction, 36.5% of addiction tendency and 61.1% of non-addiction. 2. In the relation between the degree of internet addiction and subscale stress coping behaviors, Internet addiction had significant positive correlation to the passive-avoiding coping (r= .202, p= .000) and aggressive coping(r= .233, p= .000). Multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of internet addiction was passive-avoiding coping. Aggressive coping and active coping had significant effects on internet addiction. These predictive variables of internet addiction explained 10.2% of variance. Conclusion : From the above findings, the authors concluded that it is necessary to develop a program for prevention of the internet addiction and education of stress coping behaviors can be recommended for prevention of the internet addiction.

고등학생의 학업 스트레스, 신체화 증상, 사회적 지지가 대처유형에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Academic Stress, Somatization Symptoms, and Social Support on Coping Responses in High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate factors associated with coping responses in Korean public high school students. Methods: This study employed a descriptive survey research design. The sample included 263 high school students who responded to a self-report questionnaire. Variables included socio-demographic characteristics, health-related characteristics, academic stress, somatization symptoms, social support, and coping responses. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regressions. Results: Participants, regarding their school life, reported moderate levels of academic stress ($M{\pm}SD=2.3{\pm}0.52$) and somatization symptoms ($M{\pm}SD=2.3{\pm}0.71$), and a relatively high level of social support ($M{\pm}SD=4.2{\pm}0.67$). All the variables were associated with the use of multiple coping responses. Active-cognitive coping ($M{\pm}SD=2.9{\pm}0.68$) was most frequently used, followed by active-behavioral coping ($M{\pm}SD=2.5{\pm}0.56$). and avoidant coping ($M{\pm}SD=2.3{\pm}0.75$). Significant relationships were found among the measured variables: positive relation between academic stress and somatization symptoms, but, negative between academic stress and both somatization symptoms and social support. Students who had higher stress and more somatization symptoms were more likely to use avoidant coping than the others. In multiple regression analysis, while factors associated with each coping response differed, gender appeared to be a significant factor in all methods. Variables included in the final model explained 27% of the variance in avoidant coping (F=11.40, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the study results, schools should provide tailored educational programs to help high school students reduce multisource stress and somatization symptoms at school and cope with them in more active and effective ways.

일부 치위생과 학생의 스트레스원과 대처방식에 관한 연구 (A study on the stressors and coping patterns of some dental hygiene students)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the stressors and coping patterns of dental hygiene students in a bid to boost the efficiency of guidance and counseling. Subjects and Method : The subjects in this study were 359 dental hygiene students from some colleges. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 program. Statistical data on frequency and percentage were obtained, and ANOVA and t-test were utilized. Findings : 1. The dental hygiene students investigated suffered the most stress with excessive workload, and anxiety about the national examination was the greatest stressor. Among the areas of stressors, school life put the most pressure on them(3.25). 2. The most dominant way for the dental hygiene students to handle stress was talking with friends(4.32). Out of the areas of stress-coping patterns, mental coping was most prevalent(2.94), and the least common stress-coping area was physical coping(2.23). 3. As for the relationship between the place where they were raised and stress-coping styles, physical coping and direct coping were more widespread among the students who were brought up in large urban communities than the others. Conclusion : As the dental hygiene students were different in stress-coping styles according to the place where they were grown, educators who nurture dental hygienists should offer customized education and counseling in consideration of where students were brought up.

성격특성이 스트레스 수준, 발생요인, 대처방식에 미치는 영향 : S고등학교 학생들을 중심으로 (The Effects of Personality Traits on Stress Level, Stressor, and Stress Coping Style : Focused on S High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to find and compare the differences in stress level, stressor, and coping style of high school students according to their personality traits. And to identify the personality traits contributing to stress reduction. The results of the study can be used as basic data for reducing the stress of adolescents to improve their academic achievement and maintain mental and physical stability. The questionnaire survey was conducted for 10 days from June 7 to June 16, 2017 for S high school students in Chungbuk Province. The study employed four measuring instruments as Ego-gram, Ok-gram, stressor scale, and stress coping type scale. Individual personality traits were classified into ego-states and ok-states in TA (Transactional Analysis). Stressors are classified into 5 categories (school life, home life, human relationship, myself, environment) and stress coping styles are classified into 4 categories (problem-focused coping, social-support coping, feeling-focused coping, hope-thinking coping) used in the previous studies. The collected data were analyzed using T-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. As a result, the stress level of high school students showed significant differences according to sex, year, grade, sleeping time, personality traits, and coping styles. Personality traits that contributed to the stress increase were NP, AC, 'you positive', 'i negative' and personality trait that contributes to stress reduction is 'you negative.' Therefore, we can judge that individual personality traits have significant effects on stress level, stressor, and coping style and need to find the effective stress management method suitable for individual personality traits using counseling, repetition training, self-suggestion etc.

장애아모의 스트레스 대처전략과 적응에 관한 연구 (A Study of Coping Strategies and Adaptation of Mothers of Handicapped Children)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 장애아모의 스트레스에 대한 대처전략과 적응 간의 관계를 정립하는 것이었다. 특히 장애아모의 적응에 영향을 미친다고 알려진 장애아모와 장애자녀의 개인 및 환경적 특성의 영향력을 통제한 상태에서 대처전략의 적응에의 순수한 독립적 영향력을 분석하는 데에 연구의 초점을 두었다. 서울, 창원, 대구의 장애인복지관에 등록된 장애아동의 어머니 92명을 대상으로 한 설문조사 분석결과, 대처전략과 장애아모의 적응간의 유의미한 관계가 입증되었다. Stepwise multiple regression 분석을 통해 밝혀진 장애아모의 적응 예측에 기여한 대처전략은 직면전략, 책임수용 전략 그리고 긍정적 재평가전략이었다. 직면과 책임수용전략은 장애아모의 적응에 부정적인 영향을 미친 반면, 긍정적 재평가전략은 장애아모의 적응에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이들 직면, 책임수용, 긍정적 재평가전략의 적응에의 효과는 다른 예측변수의 영향력을 보수적인 방법으로 통제한 상태에서도 통계학적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 장애아모를 위한 사회사업개입방안이 논의되었다.

항암화학요법을 받은 유방암 여성의 인지기능과 암 대처가 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Cognitive Function and Cancer Coping on Quality of Life among Women with Post-chemotherapy Breast Cancer)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify effects of cognitive function and cancer coping on quality of life among women with breast cancer treated with antineoplastic agents. Methods: The study was correlational research and participants were 145 women with breast cancer who had received antineoplastic agents. Data were collected from October to November, 2015 via online replies. Cognitive function was measured with the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Cognitive Function Version-3 (FACT-Cog), cancer coping, with the Korean Cancer Coping Questionnaire (K-CCQ), and quality of life with the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast Version-4 (FACT-B). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, ANCOVA, Bonferroni test, partial correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS 21. Results: Cognitive functions, total individual coping, and interpersonal coping explained 42% of quality of life. Cognitive function (${\beta}=.35$, p<.001) was the best predictor of quality of life, followed by total individual coping (${\beta}=.34$, p<.001), and interpersonal coping (${\beta}=.26$, p<.001). Conclusion: Results indicate that cognitive function and cancer coping are meaningful factors for quality of life among breast cancer survivors. Therefore when developing intervention programs for these women, content on cognitive function and coping skills as well as coping resources should be included.

여성결혼이민자의 스트레스 대처와 심리적 복지감과의 관계에서 희망의 매개효과 (Mediating Effect of Hope between Stress Coping and Psychological Wellbeing of Women Immigrants)

  • 본 논문은 전국의 여성결혼이민자 592명을 대상으로 스트레스 대처와 심리적 복지감과의 관계에서 희망의 매개효과를 검증하기 위하여 수행되었다. 분석을 위해 빈도분석, 상관분석, 신뢰도 분석, Baron과 Kenny의 매개 효과 검증 절차에 따라 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 첫째, 여성결혼이민자는 접근대처를 회피대처보다 많이 사용하며, 이들의 긍정적 복지와 희망수준은 중간을 상회하였으나 부정적 복지는 중간보다 낮았다. 둘째, 여성결혼이민자의 접근대처는 희망과 긍정적 복지와는 정적 상관관계를 보였으나 부정적 복지와는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 반면 회피대처는 희망과 긍정적 복지와는 부적 상관관계를, 부정적 복지와는 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 셋째, 여성결혼이민자의 접근대처와 긍정적 복지와의 관계에서 희망의 부분 매개효과가 검증되었으나 회피대처와 긍정적 복지와의 관계에서 희망의 매개효과가 검증되지 않았다. 넷째, 여성결혼이민자의 접근대처와 부정적 복지와의 관계에서 희망의 부분 매개 효과가 검증되었다

The Relationship between the Types of Stress Coping and Life Goals for College Freshmen

  • This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study using questionnaire that analyzed the relationship between stress coping types and life goals in the freshmen. The study period lasted from May 1, 2020 to May 20, 2020. A total of 282 people participated in the study, with freshmen enrolled in C and J provinces. The collected data were analyzed frequency, t-test, multiple regression, and Pearson correlation using SPSS 18.0. As a result, the passive(r=.202, p<0.05), aggressive(r=.243, p<0.05), Supportive(r=.255, p<0.01) and active stress coping types(r=.410, p<0.01) were correlated with achieve oriented life goal. And Supportive(r=.383, p<0.01), Active stress coping types(r=.497, p<0.01) were correlated with life oriented goal. According to gender, men (Mean 1.87, SD=0.62) had higher aggressive stress coping types than women (Mean=1.54, SD=0.52) (t=4.202, p=.000). People with achieve oriented life goals were found to have an effect on passive (t=7.176, p<0.01), aggressive (t=1.974, p<0.05) and evasive stress coping types (t=4.207, p<0.01). People with life oriented life goals were found to have ab effect on passive (t=6.331, p<0.01)), active stress coping types (t=2.101, p<0.05). In addition, passive (t=2.946, p<0.01), aggressive (t=4.067, p<0.01) and evasive stress coping types (t=2.624, p<0.01) affected achieve oriented goals, supportive stress coping types (t=5.438, p<0.01) affected the life oriented life goal, and active stress coping type affected on both achieve (t=4.061, p<0.01) and life oriented life goal (t=6.905, p<0.01).
