  • In order to develop smart grid communications infrastructure, a high level of interconnectivity and reliability among its nodes is required. Sensors, advanced metering devices, electrical appliances, and monitoring devices, just to mention a few, will be highly interconnected allowing for the seamless flow of data. Reliability and security in this flow of data between nodes is crucial due to the low latency and cyber-attacks resilience requirements of the Smart Grid. In particular, Artificial Intelligence techniques such as Fuzzy Logic, Bayesian Inference, Neural Networks, and other methods can be employed to enhance the security gaps in conventional IDSs. A distributed FPGA-based network with adaptive and cooperative capabilities can be used to study several security and communication aspects of the smart grid infrastructure both from the attackers and defensive point of view. In this paper, the vital issue of security in the smart grid is discussed, along with a possible approach to achieve this by employing FPGA based Radial Basis Function (RBF) network intrusion.

  • A method of conflict detection and resolution is described by using simple geometric approach. Two VAVs are dealt with and considered as point masses with constant velocity. This paper discusses en route aircraft which are assumed to be linked by real time data bases like ADS-B. With this data base, all DAVs share the information each other. Calculating PCA (Point of Closest Approach), we can evaluate the worst conflict condition between two VAVs. This paper proposes one resolution maneuvering logic, which can be called 'Vector Sharing Resolution'. In case of conflict, using miss distance vector in PCA, we can decide the directions for two VAVs to share the conflict region. With these directions, VAVs are going to maneuver cooperatively. First of all, this paper describes some '2-D' conflict scenarios and then extends to '3-D' conflict scenarios.

  • We designed and implemented a fork-type automatic guided vehicle (AGV) with a laser guidance system. Most previous AGVs have used two types of guidance systems: magnetgyro and wire guidance. However, these guidance systems have high costs, are difficult to maintain with changes in the operating environment, and can drive only a pre-determined path with installed sensors. A laser guidance system was developed for addressing these issues, but limitations including slow response time and low accuracy remain. We present a laser guidance system and control system for AGVs with laser navigation. For analyzing the performance of the proposed system, we designed and built a fork-type AGV, and performed repetitions of our experiments under the same working conditions. The results show an average positioning error of 51.76 mm between the simulated driving path and the driving path of the actual fork-type AGV. Consequently, we verified that the proposed method is effective and suitable for use in actual AGVs.

  • The effective exploitation of resources is critical for startup firms with insufficient resources to compete with well-resourced large firms. The direction and consistency of the resource input should be retained to utilize resources effectively, which will lead to a necessity for a fit between the strength in resources and the strategy of a firm. This study suggests hypotheses and verifies them empirically based on the logic that the attribute of resources in which a firm with a core competence decides the type of strategy and the formulated strategy presents the direction of the resource input, which enables the effective utilization of resources and facilitates high performance. According to the statistical results, the R&D capability affects the innovative differentiation strategy, marketing capability affects marketing differentiation strategy, and financial and production capability affects low cost strategy, in which the efficacy of the strategy depends on the attribute of resources. In addition, the R&D capability and marketing capability adversely affect the low cost strategy and the production capability negatively affects the innovative differentiation strategy, which implies that the exclusive choice of a strategy by the strength in resources results in improved performance. These results show that the fit between the resource and strategy is an essential cause of high performance in venture businesses.

  • This study explores the factors that moderate the impact of competitive strategy on resource sharing in order to explain why existing empirical research has not shown statistically significant results. We test the hypothesis that competitive strategy pursuing low-cost rather than differentiation increases resource sharing and analyze how the relationship between competitive strategy and resource sharing changes when diversification, interconnectedness, centralization of authority, and resource level are entered into the equation as moderating variables. According to the results, competitive strategy doesn't affect resource sharing alone, but it has significant effects on resource sharing when it is combined with interconnectedness, centralization of authority, and resource level, except for diversification. This means that low-cost strategy increases resource sharing under the conditions of high interconnectedness, more centralized authority, and low resource level. The prior discussions have focused on the willingness or intentions of resource sharing without considering the abilities or possibilities. Our findings indicate that resource sharing could be better predicted by using moderating variables reflecting the abilities or possibilities. The contribution of the study is that we discover and complement the vulnerability in the logic of resource sharing.

  • This paper discusses about analyzing in-wheel vehicle's dynamic motion and load torque. Since in-wheel vehicle controls each left and right driving wheels, it is dangerous if vehicle's wheels are not in a cooperative control. First, this study builds the main wheel control logic using PID control theory and evaluates the stability. Using Carsim-Matlab/Simulink, vehicle dynamic motion is simulated in virtual 3D driving road. Through this, in-wheel vehicle's driving performance can be analyzed. The target vehicle is a rear-wheel drive in D-class sedan. Second, by using the first In-wheel vehicle's performance results, it derivate the drive motor's dynamic load torque for applying the dynamometer. Extracted load torque impute to dynamometer's load motor, linear experiment in dynamometer can replicated the 3-D road driving status. Also it, will be able to evaluate the more accurate performance analysis and stability, as a previous step of actual vehicle experiment.

  • The purpose of this paper is to make research on the settlement mechanism of the commercial disputes between the South and the North of Korea. Also, this paper is to make research on the south-north Korea's cooperative tasks to promote the disputes settlement, including the operation and management of the South-North Arbitration Commission as well as the enactment of the South-North Arbitration Rules. To realize the spirit of the South-North Joint Declaration of June 15, 2000, the Authorities concerned of the South and the North of Korea have reached an agreement titled 'Agreement on Settlement Procedure of Commercial Disputes' on December of the same year. As the follow-up measures of the said Agreement, the South-North Authorities have signed an another agreement called 'Agreement on Organization and Administration of the South-North Arbitration Commission' on October, 2003, which is becoming vital importance for settlement of the commercial disputes between south and north Korea including the Gaeseong Industrial Complex. Gaeseong, a city surrounded by the North Korean military and a symbol of inter-Korean tensions, is now turning into a peace zone where thousands of North and South Koreans are working side by side. The Gaeseong Industrial Complex project, driven by the logic and economic necessity of cooperation, has been steadily moving forward since the North designated it as a special economic zone and has enacted related laws and regulations for its development. Under the situation, the matter of primary concern is how to organize and conduct the Arbitration Commission for the prompt and effective settlement of the south-north commercial disputes. First of all, the South-North Authorities should recognize that the availability of prompt, effective and economical means of dispute resolution such as arbitration and mediation to be made by the Arbitration Commission would promote the orderly growth and encouragement of the south-north trade and investment. In this connection, the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board(KCAB) should be designated as the arbitral institution of the south Korean side under the Agreement on Organization and Administration of the South-North Arbitration Commission. The KCAB is the only authorized arbitral organization in South Korea to settle all kinds of commercial disputes at home and abroad.

  • Supply chain management(SCM) requires efforts to search for methods for mutual growth with partner companies and to maintain continuous cooperative relations in order to gain a competitive edge. Because information competencies play a big role within the supply chain, it is essential to examine the relationship of information sharing and partnership quality that can affect information competency. In order to maintain continuous business relations between partner companies, it is necessary to identify the obstacles with partner companies resulting from the imbalance of power within a supply chain and to take on a strategic approach for effectively managing such obstacles. Therefore, there is a significant need to discuss strategic approach methods to enable the logic of mutual growth through the CSV that is worth learning from the partner company and the attributes of non-mediated power. CSV will be reviewed from various aspects as a new management paradigm in the future. This study aims at suggesting a continuous growth model for companies by solving social problems through the integration of CSV and the concept of non-mediated power to advance the information competencies of SCM. A total of 142 copies of survey forms for SCM Implementation Companies were using the PLS structural equation modeling for an analysis, and the following are the findings. Results of this study showed that both CSV and non-mediated power had significant impact on information sharing and partnership qualities, and the conclusion that it is possible to enhance information competency through information sharing and partnership quality. Based on this, this study proposes the implication that it is necessary to elevate awareness of CSV and non-mediated power as variables for the coexistence of SCM participating companies.
