This study examines how the characteristics of cooperative research and development (R&D) projects in the public domain impact information and communication technology (ICT) convergence. Based on the analysis of 416 cooperative R&D projects under the ICT-based industry convergence R&D program in Korea, the study finds that the characteristics of cooperative R&D projects significantly impact ICT convergence. Moreover, the participation of public research institutes and universities is critical for ICT convergence compared with that of firms. However, in firm-to-firm cooperation, the participation of small and medium enterprises contributes to cross-sectional convergence, while the participation of large firms leads to overall and longitudinal convergence. R&D inputs such as the number of partners and government subsidies exhibit an inverted U-shaped relationship (negative quadratic effect) with technology convergence. Project duration and homogeneous partners are also critical factors for ICT convergence. The results indicate several implications and guidelines on how to effectively organize cooperative R&D projects to facilitate technology convergence.

In this paper, the cooperative research on the biodiversity conservation in North-East Asia is introduced. This research was initiated by National Institute of Biological Resources (NIBR) in 2012. The bilateral MOU and following MOA had been signed between NIBR and National University of Mongolia (NUM) in 2012, whereas those had been signed between NIBR and Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Science (IOZ, CAS) in 2013. Details of the cooperative research based on those were presented.

1980년대 선진국에서 대두된 내생적 지역재발정책에 따라 우리 나라에서 1990년대 이후 활발하게 추진되고 있는 산학연지역컨소시엄사업, 지역협력연구센타사업 등 주요 지역협력형 지역개발사업의 효과여부에 대한 평가방법을 탐색하고자 한 본 연구의 주요 내용은 다음과 같다. 현대과학기술의 협력연구 필요성과 지역개발의 방향을 접목시켜 지역협력형 지역개발의 개념정립을 시도하고, 주요 사업의 현황을 검토하고 그러한 사업에 대한 전문가들의 의식조사를 실시하여 협력연구의 유형, 대학과 기업, 관청사이의 협력연구 현황과 문제점 인식의 차이 등을 도출하여 평가의 일환으로 적용하고자 하였다. 또한 협력사업을 주 대상으로 평가체계와 평가요소를 정리하고자 하였으며 현행 주요사업의 평가방법과 의식조사 내역을 바탕으로 평가방법의 향후방향을 고찰하였다.

In this paper, the optimal power control problem in a cooperative relay network is investigated and a new power control scheme is proposed based on a non-cooperative differential game. Optimal power allocated to each node for a relay is formulated using the Nash equilibrium in this paper, considering both the throughput and energy efficiency together. It is proved that the non-cooperative differential game algorithm is applicable and the optimal power level can be achieved.

This paper proposes a cooperative parallel tabu search which incorporates with the historical information exchange among processors in addition to its own searching of each processor. We investigate the influence of our proposed cooperative parallel tabu search by comparison with a serial tabu search. We also propose two extensions of the cooperative parallel tabu search which are the cooperative construction of tabu memory and the selection of cooperative partner. Through computational experiment, we observe the improvement of solutions by our proposed method.

Since 1982, the government of Korea has actively promoted vertical cooperative R&D programs between government-sponsored research institutes (GRIs) and private firms. A number of firms participated in the programs because cooperative R&D could lower the risk and could contribute to rapid commercialization of many technologies. This paper examines the effectiveness of vertical cooperative R&D projects by the modes of cooperation between GRIs and industrial firms, and analyzes the performance of participating firms' technology sourcing strategies for commercial utilization of cooperative R&D results at the project performed from 1982 to 1989 under the Government-Industry Cooperative R&D Program sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) in Korea. The cooperative R&D projects are classified into 4 groups by two criteria, i.e., the level of participation of firms, and the breadth of cooperation. The findings suggest that firms should actively participate in cooperative R&D projects. In addition, in order to enhance commercial success, cooperation between GRIs and industrial firms should not be limited to R&D stage only. The breadth of cooperation should be extended to commercialization stage. Small- and medium-sized firms participating in vertical cooperative R&D projects in Korea usually lack internal technological capabilities that are needed to commercialize the results of cooperative R&D. Three different technology sourcing strategies - exclusive cooperative R&D strategy, in-house development augmented cooperative R&D strategy, and licensing-in supplemented cooperative R&D strategy - are empirically derived through cluster analysis of the relative usage rates cooperative R&D and of other supplementary technology acquisition methods. The findings suggest that the firms participating in vertical cooperative R&D projects should try to utilize other supplementary technology acquisition methods in order to achieve commercial utilization of the vertical cooperative R&D results.

Cooperative communications and network coding schemes have been proposed to increase system throughput for ad hoc networks. In this paper, we present throughput and delay analysis of the new network coding-enabled cooperative MAC protocol called NC-MAC, which has been proposed by us in order to significantly enhance system performance. This protocol introduces an approach that can accommodate both cooperative communication and network coding for wireless ad hoc networks by slightly increasing overhead and modifying standards. The protocol's performance is evaluated using mathematical analysis and computer simulation and two performance measures, system throughput and average channel access delay, are used for a performance comparison with previous schemes. It is assumed that all the frames exchanged over a wireless channel are susceptible to transmission errors, which is a new but more reasonable assumption differentiating this research from previous research. Numerical results show this protocol provides significantly enhanced system performance compared with conventional cooperative MAC protocols used in previous research. For instance, system performance is 47% higher using the NC-MAC protocol than when using the rDCF protocol.

과학영재학교의 교육과정 운영과 교과지도 방법에 협력교수가 중요한 개념으로 등장하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 협력교수의 관점에서 과학영재학교의 교육과정 운영을 살펴보고, 사회과의 교수-학습과정에 적용할 수 있는 협력교수 방안과 실현 가능성을 탐색하였다. 이에 본 연구에서 살펴본 것과 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 협력교수의 개념을 정리하고 여러 교육현장에서 이 개념에 근거한 방법적 적용들이 어떠한가를 살펴보았다. 둘째, 협력교수의 관점에서 현재 과학영재학교에서 이루어지고 있는 전 교과의 교수-학습을 살펴보았다. 셋째, 현재의 교육과정과 주어진 여러 물리적.인적 여건을 고려하여 사회과의 협력교수 방안을 탐색하였다. 넷째, 협력교수의 한 방안으로 제시된 '세미나 수업'의 일부분을 시행하였다. 세미나의 대주제는 시사성이 있는 통합적 주제로 '중국의 고구려사 왜곡 문제'였으며, 지리, 역사, 일반사회, 윤리 및 사상을 담당하는 교사와 희망한 학생들이 영역별 소주제를 중심으로 연구와 협력학습이 진행되었다. 다섯째, 세미나 준비와 발표등의 과정에서 교사-교사, 학생-학생, 교사-학생의 상호작용이 활발하게 있었고, 특히 교사들 간의 상호작용은 협력교수로 발전할 수 있는 가능성을 찾게 되었다. 마지막으로, 학생들은 사회과 학습에 적극적으로 참여하려는 공감대를 형성할 수 있었고, 사회현상에 대해 연구하는 방법을 익히고 동시에 사회현상을 다각적인 관점에서 접근할 수 있는 안목을 넓히게 되었다.

건강, 운동에 관한 관심이 고조되고 레저를 즐기는 사용자층이 확대되어 감에 따라 다양한 종류의 레저형 시뮬레이터에 대한 개발이 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 단순 운동을 위한 스포츠 시뮬레이터는 흥미를 반감시켜 지속적인 운동에 대한 저해하는 요소가 된다. 본 논문에서는 이런 시뮬레이터의 한계를 극복하기 위해 다양한 콘텐츠를 접목시킨 스포테인먼트형 자전거를 제안한다. 이를 위해 개인 신체 정보를 입력을 통해 프로그램 추천 및 이력관리가 가능하고 흥미요소인 게임, 음악 등을 동시에 즐기면서 운동을 할 수 있는 자전거 시뮬레이터 UXBike 시스템 개발한다. 이는 보편화된 운동 레저 시뮬레이터와 콘텐츠의 융합을 통해 사용자의 몰입도 향상 및 지속적인 관심을 갖게 하는 계기가 될것이라 판단된다.

We analyze a systematic relationship between transaction mechanisms and wholesale pricing schemes within a supply-chain with two competing suppliers and a monopolistic retailor. When one of the suppliers changes its transaction mechanism from an independent scheme to a cooperative one, then the wholesale prices of the suppliers become cheaper than before. When one supplier changes its transaction scheme to a cooperative one while the other supplier sticks to the existing independent transaction scheme, we show that the supplier with a cooperative transaction scheme can realize the increased profit via a profit sharing contract with the retailer but the supplier with independent transaction scheme can face the decreased profit. We also show that both suppliers can achieve the higher profits by adopting the cooperative schemes with the retailer.
