Experimental research on sagging bending resistance of steel sheeting-styrofoam-concrete composite sandwich slabs

  • A new-styrofoam-concrete composite sandwich slab with function of heat insulation is designed. Four full-scale simply supported composite sandwich slabs with different shear connectors are tested. Parameters under study are the thickness of the concrete, the height of profiled steel sheeting, the influence of shear connectors including the steel bars and self-drilling screws. Experimental results showing that four specimens mainly failed in bending failure mode; the shear connectors can limit the longitudinal slippery between the steel profiled sheeting and the concrete effectively and thus guarantee the good composite action and cooperative behavior of two materials. The ultimate sagging bending resistance can be determined based on plastic theory. This new composite sandwich slab has high sagging bending resistance and good ductility. Additionally, these test results help the design and application of this new type of composite sandwich slab.

협조행동을 위한 자율이동로봇의 강화학습에서의 먹이와 포식자 문제 (Prey-predator Problem in the Reinforcement Learning of Autonomous Mobile Robots for Cooperative Behavior)

  • 협조행동이 요구되는 다수의 자율이동로봇 시스템에서 각 개체는 주변환경의 인식뿐만 아니라 지속적인 환경변화에 적응할 수 있는 고도의 추론능력을 요구하고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 강화학습을 이용하여 동적으로 변화하는 환경에서 스스로 학습하여 대처할 수 있는 협조행동 방법을 제시하였다. 강화학습은 동물의 학습방법 연구에서 비롯되었으며, 주어진 목표를 수행하는 과정에서 개체의 행동이 목표를 성취하도록 하였을 때는 그 행동에 보상을 주어 환경의 상태에 따른 최적의 행동방법을 찾아내도록 학습하는 방법이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 포식자들이 협조행동을 통하여 능동적으로 움직이는 먹이를 잡는 까다로운 문제에 제안한 방법을 적용하여 그 성능을 검증하였다.

Midazolam use in pediatric dentistry: a review

  • Behaviour management and dental procedures performed in very young, pre-cooperative, highly anxious, or medically disabled children are challenging tasks. Various drugs and methods have, however, been introduced to facilitate treatment for this patient population. Midazolam is a benzodiazepine used as an adjunct to behavior management techniques in the dental treatment of pediatric patients. Midazolam can be used as a safe and effective drug for conscious sedation, general anesthetic premedication, and treatment of seizures during dental procedures. Nevertheless, further research involving pediatric patients would be beneficial.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze and clarify the meaning of the concept, assertiveness. Method: This study used Walker and Avant's process of concept analysis. Results: 1. Attributes of assertiveness were defined as 1) Self-esteem 2) Comprehension to others 3) Clarification of the subject 4) Verbal communication 5) Non-verbal communication 2. The antecedents of assertiveness consist of these facts 1) The occurrence of a conflict situation 2) The occurrence of will to stick to one's opinions 3. There are consequences occuring as a result of assertiveness 1) Positive self-confidence 2) Increased comprehension or consideration to others 3) Expand of mutual respect 4) Maintenance of continuously cooperative relationship with each other 5) Output of acceptable results to each other Conclusion: Assertiveness is a core human behavior and is key to interpersonal relationships. Using the components of the concept of assertiveness, many conflicts in a nursing situation can be effectively prevented.

  • 다수의 자율이동로봇으로 구성되는 다개체 시스템에서의 협조행동을 위해서 각 개체는 주변환경의 인식뿐만 아니라 환경변화에 적응할 수 있는 추론능력이 요구된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 강화학습을 이용하여 동적으로 변화하는 환경 하에서 개체들이 스스로 학습하고 대처할 수 있는 협조행동 방법을 제시한다. 제안한 방법을 먹이와 포식자 문제에 적용하여 포식자 로봇간의 협조행동을 구현하였다. 여러 대로 구성된 포식자 로봇은 회피가 목적인 먹이로봇을 추적하여 포획하는 것이 임무이며 포식자 로봇들 간의 협조행동을 위해 각 상태에 따른 최적의 행동방식을 찾는데 강화학습을 이용한다.

  • This paper includes a method for estimating the parameter of a synchronous generator and exciter using the modified particle swarm optimization. A solid round rotor synchronous generator and exciter have been modeled with the saturation function. They are regarded as state of being cooperative to a infinite bus. The behavior characteristic of all particles assigned to a parameter needs to be reflected in the PSO algorithm to fine out more close result to the optimal solution. The results of the simulation to estimate the parameters of the synchronous generator and exciter in the modified PSO algorithm are described.

  • To achieve a cooperative work between human and robot, it is thought helpful to estimate the states of human mind, which originates his behavior. In this paper, human mind was considered to modify instinctive desires according to the conditions of external world surrounding the instinct. A simple human mind model was designed so that it finds a balance between instinctive desire and restriction from the external world. The external world is divided into three sub-worlds like subject´s whole body, its partner and concerned periphery. Proposed mind model has three-layers construction. Each of the layer tries to find a balance between desire and restriction from external world.   • This paper presents the results of a cooperative research on remote parallel pseudo-dynamic testing on a base-isolated bridge with multiple piers using Internet between KAIST, Korea and Kyoto Univ., Japan. Experimental facilities located at two institutions were parallelly used to test the nonlinear behavior of the base-isolators. Two data communication schemes for parallel tests were developed and the performance is compared. The results indicate that the elapsed time may vary widely depending on the data communication and testing schemes : i.e. 1-25sec for each time step. But it is fairly comparable with the time required for pseudo-dynamic testing. The testing method can become more powerful, as the data communication and monitoring techniques through Internet improve further.

  • 본 논문에서는 자율분산로봇의 무선 통신시스템에 관하여 연구하였다. 이동로봇 사이의 협조 동작을 위하여 통신의 구현이 필요하다. 따라서, 우리는 이동로봇에 무선통신시스템을 적용하여 실험하였다. 그리고, 여러 이동로봇 사이의 상호작용을 연구하기 위하여 분산된 제어구조의 개념과 실험적 구조를 설명한다.

  • Switching to organic farming practices in agricultural production reaches the end of the period it takes an average of five years. During this period, agricultural soil management to improve the investment must be sustained. Results of the survey of environment-friendly agricultural lease rates appear to approximately 54.2% lower than agricultural practices. Environmentally friendly agricultural land is leased on a long transition period of the contract cost, many buried incompleteness, uncertainty of contract fulfillment(opportunistic behavior) occurs when the transaction costs. This ultimately can hinder the spread of organic farming. Thus, the qualitative development of organic farming and land leasing in order to minimize transaction costs, should that occur. The alternative 'cooperative long-term lease contract' is a system.
