Simple Bacteria Cooperative Optimization with Rank Replacement

  • We have developed a new optimization algorithm termed simple bacteria cooperative optimization (sBCO) based on bacteria behavior patterns [1]. In [1], we have introduced the algorithm with basic operations and showed its feasibility with some function optimization problems. Since the sBCO was the first version with only basic operations, its performance was not so good. In this paper, we adopt a new operation, rank replacement, to the sBCO for improving its performance and compare its results to those of the simple genetic algorithm (sGA) which has been well known and widely used as an optimization algorithm. It was found from the experiments with four function optimization problems that the sBCO with rank replacement was superior to the sGA. This shows that our algorithm can be a good optimization algorithm.

Development and Effects of a Child Health Management Program Based on Cooperative Learning for Mothers of Preschool Children (학령전기 아동 어머니를 위한 협동학습 기반 아동건강관리 프로그램 개발 및 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test effects of a child health management program based on cooperative learning for mothers of preschool children. Methods: For this quasi-experimental study, a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Outcome measures were level of child health management self-efficacy, child health management practices, child's health behavior. Participants were 55 mothers (experimental group 28, control group 27). The program was composed of 6 categories of home health management for preschool children, and provided for three 120-minute sessions. Data were collected from September to October, 2015, at 3 times: baseline, 3 and 6 weeks after beginning the intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: After 3 and 6 weeks, there were significant differences between the two groups in child health management self-efficacy (F=18.33, p<.001), child health management practices (F=8.91, p<.001), and child's health behavior (F=9.91, p<.001). Conclusion: Study findings indicate that this child health management program based on cooperative learning is effective and can be recommended as an intervention for mothers of preschool children. It will contribute to enhanced child health management self-efficacy and health management practices and improved child's health behavior.

Cooperative Strategies and Swarm Behavior in Distributed Autonomous Robotic Systems based on Artificial Immune System (인공면역 시스템 기반 자율분산로봇 시스템의 협조 전략과 군행동)

  • In this paper, we propose a method of cooperative control (T-cell modeling) and selection of group behavior strategy (B-cell modeling) based on immune system in distributed autonomous robotic system (DARS). Immune system is living body's self-protection and self-maintenance system. These features can be applied to decision making of optimal swarm behavior in dynamically changing environment. For applying immune system to DARS, a robot is regarded as a ?3-cell, each environmental condition as an antigen, a behavior strategy as an antibody and control parameter as a T-cell respectively. When the environmental condition (antigen) changes, a robot selects an appropriate behavior strategy (antibody). And its behavior strategy is stimulated and suppressed by other robot using communication (immune network). Finally much stimulated strateby is adopted as a swarm behavior strategy. This control scheme is based on clonal selection and immune network hypothesis, and it is used for decision making of optimal swarm strategy. Adaptation ability of robot is enhanced by adding T-cell model as a control parameter in dynamic environments.

  • Oral administration of chloral hydrate with hydroxyzine, nitrous oxide inhalation and intramuscular or intranasal administration of midazolam is the most commonly used pharmacological behavior management methods for the children in pre-cooperative stage or show negative behavior in pediatric dentistry. For oral administration of chloral hydrate with hydroxyzine, it is hard to apply to the patient refused to intake and with overweighted or elderly children and the effect of the drug decrease. Nitrous oxide and midazolam is anxiolytic agents and have limitation for properly managing the behavior of the children refuse to dental treatment. These occasions, deep sedation or general anesthesia can be considered. Although intravenous sedation with midazolam has many advantages such as, rapid onset and recovery, possible to titration and few side effect, no rebound effect by metabolites, the reports for, intravenous sedation with midazolam is insufficient in pediatric dentistry. We report the case in pre-cooperative stage. He is treated successfully under intravenous sedation with midazolam.

  • The sensing and communication abilities of a mobile robot are essential to cooperative behavior in distributed autonomous robotic systems. In general, as the number of robot goes on increasing, the limitation of communication capacity and information overflow occur in global communication capacity and information overflow occur in global communication system. Therefore a local communication is more effective than global one. In this paper, we analyze information propagation mechanism based on local communication. To find an optimal communication radius, we propose three methods with different conditions. Also, to avoid chaotic behavior which occurs when a robot obtains and loses information, we find stable condition of information propagation.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to examine the effects of the Cooperative Clinical Nursing Education Program on the competency and satisfaction of nursing students in clinical practice. Method: The research design was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a convenience sample of 107 nursing students who were at one College of Nursing located in Seoul. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Results: Nursing students participated in the program reported higher nursing skills and total satisfaction than control group after completing education program. Conclusion: Cooperative clinical nursing education program for nursing students had positive effects on nursing skills and satisfaction of clinical practice.

Effects of a Structure-centered Cooperative Learning Safety Education Program based on Blended Learning for Elementary School Students (초등학생의 블랜디드 러닝 기반 구조중심협동학습을 적용한 안전교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to determine effects of a structure-centered cooperative learning safety education program based on blended learning for elementary school students. Methods: The study is developed in nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design. The subjects included 24 sixth grade students in the experimental group and 23 sixth grade students in the control group, respectively. To prevent diffusion of the experiment, it was carried out from May 20th to June 24th in 2015 with the control group and the other from August 26th to September 30th in 2015 with the experimental group. It was performed on experimental group after the structure-centered cooperative learning safety education program based on blended learning once a week for 6weeks. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, paired t-test and independent t-test. Results: After the intervention, the experimental group showed significant increases in the self-directed learning attitudes and safety behavior compared to the control group except for the academic self-efficacy. Conclusion: The results indicate that the structure-centered cooperative learning safety education program based on blended learning program is effective in safety education for 6th graders.

  • Cooperative web-based learning is an teaching strategy in which small teams, each of students with different levels of ability, use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject via the web. The objective of this paper is to propose new assessment items for evaluating students fairly in cooperative web-based learning. As a result, improved academic achievement, improved behavior and attendance, and increased self-confidence can be made in cooperative web-based learning due to the fair assessment, In this paper, the environment and instructional strategies for successful learning are firstly examined. In addition, the existing evaluation items in traditional classroom are also analyzed in order to develop new evaluation criteria in the web. Based on these analyzed items, we propose new evaluation items for cooperative web-based learning. In addition, the proposed items related to participant ratio, cooperability, and accountability are analyzed according to team organization styles and instructional models.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of cooperative control based on immune system in distributed autonomous robotic system(DARS). Immune system is living body's self-protection and self-maintenance system. Thus these features can be applied to decision making of optimal swarm behavior in dynamically changing environment. For the purpose of applying immune system to DARS, a robot is regarded as a B lymphocyte(B cell), each environmental condition as an antigen, and a behavior strategy as an antibody respectively. The executing process of proposed method is as follows. When the environmental condition changes, a robot selects an appropriate behavior strategy. And its behavior strategy is simulated and suppressed by other robot using communication. Finally much simulated strategy is adopted as a swarm behavior strategy. This control scheme is based on clonal selection and idiotopic network hypothesis. And it is used for decision making of optimal swarm strategy.

  • Organizational citizenship behavior refers to the behavior of faithfully performing one's duties and being faithful to other roles. Firefighters' awareness of organizational citizenship behavior is closely related to national and individual safety and is very important. The smooth communication and cooperative attitude of fire department employees means organic unity at the disaster site. The purpose of this study was to analyze the awareness of organizational citizenship behavior among firefighters. As a result of analyzing the overall level of organizational citizenship behavior of firefighters, the average score was 3.83 points (out of 5). In particular, significant implications emerged regarding work-related appointment times and words and actions between co-workers. In the future, we hope that firefighting policy authorities will make a lot of efforts and academic research by subsequent generations will be conducted to make firefighting more trustworthy to the public.
