Recent Developments of Tubular Flame Burners

  • As a new type of flame, tubular flame has attracted much attention from a fundamental viewpoint and many experimental and theoretical studies have been made on its characteristics. Recently, it is also recognized that the tubular flame has great potentials as practical combustor because its stability range is very wide in fuel concentration and also in injection velocity. Thus, tubular flame burners have been developed for various kinds of fuels. They are gaseous fuels of methane, propane, hydrogen, and by-product fuels gases in steel making processes including BFG (Blast Furnace Gas), LDG (LD Converter Gas), and COG (Cokes-Oven Gas), liquid fuels of kerosene, A-type and C-type heavy oils, and a solid fuel of biomass powder. In this paper, recent developments of the tubular flame burners have been briefly introduced.

  • In this paper, we evaluated the suitability of steel slag(is divided with electric arc furnace slag and converter slag) as concrete aggregate by measuring physical and chemical characteristics of it. The steel slag mainly contains SiO$_2$ and CaO as the chemical composition. The reaction with water and a little of free CaO in the slag causes slag's volume to expand. Therefore, we used several aging methods in order to decrease the characteristics of slag volume expansion. The physical properties of steel slag aggregate are researched and then the strength of concrete with the steel slag aggregate is measured.

  • Recently, as quality river aggregates like sands and gravels become scarce, use of crushed stones and sands, seashore sands, and seashore gravels is increasing abruptly. And, aggregates recycled from slags and waste concretes are used. However, since the converter slag easily expands and breaks due to free lime, differently from the blast-furnace slag, it is not suitable for use as concrete aggregates. Since the atomized steel slag aggregate has slippery surface and spherical shape, the mortar flowing characteristics improved as the atomized steel slag content increases, without regard to the aggregates coarseness and water/cement ratio. The flow characteristics loss rate of the mortar manufactured from steel slag aggregates was similar to that of the mortar manufactured from washed sand only. The compact strength of the mortar manufactured from coarse PS Ball were larger than that manufactured from washing sand only.

  • This paper proposed the technique of the fault-types classification using Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System in the distribution system. Fault and fault-like data in the linear RL load, arc furnace load and converter load were extracted by EMTP. These were characterized into 5 input variables and fuzzified automatically by learning. This technique was tested using another fault data unused learning.

  • 칼슘 페라이트는 기존 소결광용 결합제 및 제강용 융제보다 용융온도가 낮아 결합제 및 융제로서의 효과가 우수하다. 본 연구에서는 제조비용절감과 생산성 증대를 위해 기존 용융법이 아닌 시멘트 제조공정에서의 소성법으로 칼슘 페라이트를 제조하였다. 칼슘페라이트의 석회질 원료로 소성슬러지 및 석회석을 사용하였고, 철질 원료로 제강슬러지, 고로분진 및 철광석을 사용하였다. 이때 소성온도는 $950{\sim}1170^{\circ}C$이며, 저융점 특성을 가진 '소결광용 결합제' 또는 '전로 및 전기로용 융제'로의 사용 가능성을 검토하고자 원료를 분석하고 소결 특성을 평가하였다.

  • dynamic strain gage와 12bit AD(analog to digital converter)를 이용한 새로운 제진특성 측정 장치를 제작하였다. 이 장치를 이용하여 일반재료와 고제진재료의 제진특성을 연구하였다. 또한 열처리 조건, 초기 진동 진폭, 그리고 내부응력의 변화에 따른 SDC(specific damping capacity)변화에 관하여 연구하였다. 일반재료와 제진재료의 비교에서, 제진재료는 진동을 가한 후 0.4초 이내에 진동 진폭이 거의 사라졌지만, 같은 시간에 일반재료의 진동 진폭은 거의 감소하지 않았다. Fe-16wt. %Cr계 합금의 제진 특성은 노냉일 때 SDC max 가 40%이상이었고, Fe-5.5wt.%Ai합금의 제진 특성은 공냉일 때 SDC max값이 30%이상이었다. 초기 진동 진폭이 증가할수록 최대 제진 특성치는 낮은 진동 진폭 영역으로 이동하였다. 제진 특성은 내부 응력이 증가할수록 급격한 감소를 보였으며, 본 연구에서 개발한 제진측정 장치는 낮은 진동 진폭의 영역에서 정확한 제진 특성 측정이 가능하였다.

산업폐기물을 이용한 수용액 중 인산염의 흡착 제거 (Phosphate Removal of Aqueous Solutions using Industrial Wastes)

  • The present study was conducted to investigate phosphate removal from aqueous solution using industrial wastes, red mud (RM), acid treated red mud (ATRM) and converter furnace steel slag (CFSS). The chemical composition of adsorbents was analyzed using X-ray fluorescence (XRF). Batch experiments and elution experiments using water tank were performed to examine environmental factors that influences on phosphate removal. Kinetic sorption data of RM, ATRM, and CFSS were described well by the pseudo second-order kinetic sorption model, and equilibrium sorption data of all adsorbents obeyed Freundlich isotherm model. The adsorption capacities of adsorbents followed order: ATRM (7.06 mg/g)>RM (4.34 mg/g)>CFSS (1.88 mg/g). Increasing pH from 3 to 11, the amount of adsorbed phosphate on all RM, ATRM, and CFSS were decreased. The presence of sulfate and carbonate decreased the phosphate removal of RM and ATRM but did not influence on the performance of CFSS. The phosphate removal of RM, ATRM, and CFSS was greater in seawater than deionized water, resulting from the presence of cations in seawater. The water tank elution experiments showed that RM capping blocked the elution of phosphate effectively. It was concluded that the adsorbents can be successfully used for the removal of the phosphate from the aqueous solutions.

  • 본 연구에서는 배기 가스 촉매정화용 금속담체 지지체의 접합특성을 향상시키기 위하여, 브레이징 접합부의 고온내산화성에 미치는 브레이징 합금원소의 영향을 고찰하였다. 브레이징은 Ni계 합금인 BNi-5 분말(Ni-Cr-Si계합금)과 MBF-50 foil(Ni-Cr-Si-B계 합금)을 사용하여 $1200^\circC$의 진공중에서 행하였다. 약 1-1.5 wt%의 B을 함유한 MBF-50으로 브레이징된 시편이 BNi-5로 브레이징된 시편에 비해 내산화성이 떨어지는 것으로 나타났으며. 이것은 합금/브레이징 계변을 따라 형성된 Kirkendall void를 통한 산소의 빠른 침투로 인한 것으로 생각된다.

NPE법을 이용한 절연재료의 유효열확산계수의 과도측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Transient Measurement of the Effective Thermal Diffusivity of Insulation Materials by NPE Method)

  • The objective of this study is to present an efficient measurement method of the effective thermal diffusivity for the fibrous insulation material. The non-linear parameter estimation (NPE) method is adapted for this analysis because of its accuracy and its results are compared with those by other direct methods such as CTP, CHP and STD method. A experimental system is constructed with bell-jar vaccum chamber, diffusion pump, tube type furnace, control unit and data acquisition system included with A/D converter and IBM XT/AT personal computer. The typical results obtained from this study are as follows; 1) NPE method can be recommended as an useful and accurate method to measure the effective thermal diffusivity of insuation material because it is shown that the measurement error compared with those by other direct methods is reduced for standard material, NBS-1450b. 2) NPE method can minimize the effects of ill-measured temperature due to external disturbance, because the final value is found by point to point estimating. 3) NPE method dose not depend on the kinds of heat flux, since the surfac temperature are used to estimate the thermal diffusivity. 4) With NPE method, compared with the steady state method, a measuring time and a sample size could be reduced.

  • 대만의 제강생산량은 21,290천톤이고, 전기로제강량은 제강생산량의 약 반, 즉 11,200천톤이다. 그리고 이 전기로 제강시 발생되는 더스트량은 160천톤(2009년도)이다. Walcz 프로세스(탄소강 EAF 더스트)에서 약 70천톤, RHF/SAF 프로세스(스테인레스강 EAF 더스트)에서 약 60천톤을 처리하고 있다. 그리고 약 90천톤/년의 조산화아연(ZnO)이 생산되고 있는 것으로 추정된다. 현재 새로운 EAF 더스트 리싸이클링법이 개발되고 있고, 조산화아연의 품위향상이 앞으로 과제이다.
