Fine root distribution was investigated in Pinus densiflora stands using soil core sampling and minirhizotrons, and conversion factors and regression equations were developed for converting minirhizotron data into fine root biomass. Fine root biomass was measured by soil core sampling from October, 2012 to September, 2013 once a month except for the winter, and surface area of fine roots was estimated by minirhizotrons from May to August, 2013 once a month. Fine root biomass and surface area were significantly higher in the upper soil layers than in the lower soil layers. Fine root biomass showed seasonal patterns; the mean fine root biomass ($kg{\cdot}ha^{-1}$) in summer (3,762.4) and spring (3,398.0) was significantly higher than that in autumn (2,551.6). Vertical and seasonal patterns of fine root biomass might be related to the soil bulk density, nutrient content and temperature with soil depth, and seasonal changes of soil and air temperature. Conversion factors (CF) between fine root surface area from minirhizotron data and fine root biomass from soil core sampling were developed for the three soil depths. Then a linear regression equation was developed between the predicted fine root biomass using CF and the measured fine root biomass (y = 79.7 + 0.93x, $R^2=0.81$). We expect to estimate the long-term dynamics of fine roots using CF and regression equation for P. densiflora forests in Korea.

This paper empirically investigates the factors that influence the consumer choice of an app market based on the rational choice theory. The app market is the only channel where a consumer can buy smartphone apps, which give various functional convenience and are considered to be a major contributor to the proliferation of smartphones. Analyses of 281 questionnaires show that usability and structural guarantees as benefit factors significantly influence the app market choice. From the cost perspectives, both monetary and non-monetary conversion costs are found to significantly influence the app market choice. On the other hand, customer trust, information quality, and market image were found to have no significant effect on app market selection. In particular, Korean app market platform providers (KT, LG U +) seem to be superior in terms of structural guarantees, such as customer center operation and damage compensation regulations, compared to overseas app market platform operators (Google). However, in the case of the Google App Market, it is pre-installed on all Android phones, so it is not inconvenient to install additional apps to use other app market. This is disadvantageous to domestic app market platform operators, and it is necessary to establish a policy solution point. In terms of operator costs, both monetary and non-monetary conversion costs have a significant impact on app market choice. In particular, non-monetary conversion costs have a negative impact on Korean app market platform operators. It can be explained that the service expectation level of the domestic app market is low and it is recognized that the time cost factor such as membership is large for new users to use. It seems to be necessary to improve the domestic app market business. Meanwhile, extant research on smartphone apps focuses on the purchase of apps themselves, but not on the selection of the app market itself. In order to fill in this gap, this study focuses on the determinants of app market selection, including the characteristics of an app market and the switching costs.

In the flood season, the measurement of the river discharge has many restrictions due to reasons such as budget, manpower, safety, convenience in measurement and so on. In particular, when heavy rain events occur due to typhoons, etc., it is difficult to measure the amount of flood due to the above problems. In order to improve this problem, in this study, a method was developed that can measure the river discharge in a flood season simply and safely in a short time with minimal manpower by combining the functions of a drone and a surface velocity doppler radar. To overcome the mechanical limitations of drones caused by weather issues such as wind and rainfall derived from the measurement of the river discharge using the conventional drone, we developed a drone with P56 grade dustproof and waterproof performance, stable flight capability at a wind speed of up to 36 km/h, and a payload weight of up to 10 kg. Further, to eliminate vibration which is the most important constraint factor in the measurement with a surface velocity doppler radar, a damper plate was developed as a device that combines a drone and a surface velocity Doppler radar. The velocity meter DSVM (Dron and Surface Veloctity Meter using doppler radar) that combines the flight equipment with the velocity meter was produced. The error of ±3.5% occurred as a result of measuring the river discharge using DSVM at the point of Geumsan-gun (Hwangpunggyo) located at Bonghwang stream (the first tributary stream of the Geum River). In addition, when calculating the mean velocity from the measured surface velocity, the measurement was performed using ADCP simultaneously to improve accuracy, and the mean velocity conversion factor (0.92) was calculated by comparing the mean velocity. In this study, the discharge measured by combining a drone and a surface velocity meter was compared with the discharge measured using ADCP and floats, so that the application and utility of DSVM was confirmed.
Upper temperature tolerance of the turbot Scophthalmus maxim us, one of the popular aquaculture species in European community and China, was evaluated in terms of survival and growth at $20^{\circ}C$, $23^{\circ}C$, $26^{\circ}C$, or $29^{\circ}C$. Best growth was achieved at temperature $20^{\circ}C$ in this experiments. The fish exposed to $20^{\circ}C$ or $23^{\circ}C$ were comparable in survival, condition factor and feed conversion efficiency reminiscent of the latter temperature to be agreeable for the fish. The temperature over $23^{\circ}C$ appeared to be the temperatures beyond the fish can tolerate. For instance, the fish exposed to 26 showed mortality of 60.9% by day 60; none of the fish exposed to $29^{\circ}C$ survived beyond day 7. Culture densities between 80 and $200\;fish/m^2$ did not influence the survival, growth, condition factor and specific growth rate of the fish. The final production of the culture density experiment was $10\;kg/m^2$ on average. These results imply that the location where water temperature remains lower than $25^{\circ}C$ during summer can be a candidate site for the turbot aquaculture.

Single crystal $CuGaSe_2$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating CaAs(100) substrate at $450^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $CuGaSe_2$ source at $610^{\circ}C$. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence (PL) and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of single crystal $CuGaSe_2$ thin films measured with Hall effect by Van der Pauw method are $4.87{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$ and $129cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ at 293 K, respectively. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $CuGaSe_2$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g(T)=1.7998eV-(8.7489{\times}10^{-4}eV/K)T^2/(T+335K)$. The voltage, current density of maxiumun power, fill factor, and conversion, efficiency of $n-CdS/p-CuGaSe_2$, heterojunction solar cells under $80mW/cm^2$ illumination were found to be 0.41 V, $21.8mA/cm^2$, 0.75 and 11.17%, respectively.

The objective of the present study was to identify differences in the expression levels of liver proteins between healthy and ketotic cows, establish a liver metabolic interrelationship of ketosis and elucidate the metabolic characteristics of the liver during ketosis. Liver samples from 8 healthy multiparous Hostein cows and 8 ketotic cows were pooled by health status and the proteins were separated by two-dimensional-electrophoresis (2D-E). Statistical analysis of gels was performed using PDQuest software 8.0. The differences in the expression levels of liver proteins (p<0.05) between ketotic and healthy cows were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF-TOF) tandem mass spectrometry. Five enzymes/proteins were identified as being differentially expressed in the livers of ketotic cows: expression of 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase type-2 (HCDH), acetyl-coenzyme A acetyltransferase 2 (ACAT) and elongation factor Tu (EF-Tu) were down-regulated, whereas that of alpha-enolase and creatine kinase were up-regulated. On the basis of this evidence, it could be presumed that the decreased expression of HCDH, which is caused by high concentrations of acetyl-CoA in hepatic cells, in the livers of ketotic cows, implies reduced fatty acid ??oxidation. The resultant high concentrations of acetyl-CoA and acetoacetyl CoA would depress the level of ACAT and generate more ??hydroxybutyric acid; high concentrations of acetyl-CoA would also accelerate the Krebs Cycle and produce more ATP, which is stored as phosphocreatine, as a consequence of increased expression of creatine kinase. The low expression level of elongation factor Tu in the livers of ketotic cows indicates decreased levels of protein synthesis due to the limited availability of amino acids, because the most glucogenic amino acids sustain the glyconeogenesis pathway; thus increasing the level of alpha-enolase. Decreased protein synthesis also promotes the conversion of amino acids to oxaloacetate, which drives the Krebs Cycle under conditions of high levels of acetyl-CoA. It is concluded that the livers of ketotic cows possess high concentrations of acetyl-CoA, which through negative feedback inhibited fatty acid oxidation; show decreased fatty acid oxidation, ketogenesis and protein synthesis; and increased gluconeogenesis and energy production.
The current study investigated the effects of enzyme treatment on black rice (Oryza sativa L.) aleurone layer extracts. Different enzymes (lipase, lecitase ultra and lipopan 50BG) were used to test anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro. The antioxidant activities of enzyme treated or non-enzyme treated extracts of black rice bran were evaluated via 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activity. Lipase treated extracts of black rice bran showed higher antioxidant activity compared to that of non-enzyme treated extracts. Anti-inflammatory activities of enzyme treated black rice bran extracts on nitrite production and tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$ ($TNF-{\alpha}$) secretion, were tested using a nitric oxide (NO) colorimetric assay kit and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. The ethanolic extract of enzyme treated black rice bran decreased the levels of nitric oxide production and pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$, in a lipopolysaccharidestimulated RAW 264.7 cell culture. These findings indicate that enhanced anti-oxidant and anti-inflammation activities of the ethanolic extracts of enzyme treated black rice (Oryza sativa L.) aleurone layers, may be attributed to molecular conversion of ingredients in enzyme catalyzed reactions.
Injection of bovine growth hormone (bGH) to lactating dairy cows increases milk yield and yields of milk components including fat. It is generally believed that most of the anabolic effects derived from bGH in animal tissues are primarily mediated by IGF-1. IGF-1 is a strong anabolic peptide in the plasma of animals and exerts mitogenic and metabolic effects on target cells. Contrary to most protein hormones, the majority of IGF-1 in circulation is bound to the binding proteins (IGFBPs) which are known to be responsible for modifying the biological actions of IGF-1, thus making determinations of IGF-1 actions more difficult. On the other hand, fat is a major milk component and the greatest energy source in milk. Currently, the fat content of milk is one of the major criteria used in determining milk prices. It has been known that flavor and texture of dairy products are mainly affected by milk fat and its composition. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) is the rate limiting enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA for fatty acid synthesis in 1ipogenic tissues of animals including bovine lactating mammary glands. In addition to the short-tenn hormonal regulation of ACC by changes in the catalytic efficiency per enzyme molecule brought about by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of the enzyme, the long-term hormonal regulation of ACC by changes in the number of enzyme molecules plays an essential role in control of ACC and lipogenesis. Insulin, at supraphysiological concentrations, binds to IGF-1 receptors, thereby mimicking the biological effects of IGF-1. The receptors for insulin and IGF-1 share structural and functional homology. Furthermore, epidermal growth factor increased ACC activity in rat hepatocytes and adipocytes. Therefore, it can be assumed that IGF-1 mediating bGH action may increase milk fat production by stimulation ACC with phosphorylation (short term) and/or increasing amounts of the enzyme proteins (long term). Consequently, the main purpose of this paper is to give the readers not only the galactopoietic effects of bGH, but also the insight of bGH action with regard to stimulating milk fat synthesis from the whole body to the molecular levels.
As the Internet and mobile services increase, the use of wired/wireless web contents services increase and the demand for various contents explosively grows. To survive in competitive market, and to minimize the errors and warnings for web accessibility and standardization, and then to maximize the web usability, the periodical evaluation for web site should be performed with the events of web marketing and campaign. Through the web evaluation, the errors for technical programming language and contents offering can be found and diagnosed. In this paper, the quantitative and qualitative evaluation method for web site providing web contents are presented, and the analytic results for the 138 home pages in domestic are evaluated to validate the quantitative methodology. The accessibility, standardization, and usability factor are adopted for the evaluation in which accessibility is evaluated for perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust discipline with K-WAH(Korea-Web Accessibility Helper) tool, the standardization are measured for the number of errors and warnings in technical language with the W3C validator, and finally the usability factor is analyzed for the number of visits, average visit duration, and bounce rate with Google Analytics. In addition to, the quantitative analysis is also performed with the consideration of cost for construction and operation of web site. From the results, in the case of total score of 100 in conversion with relative weight, the average and standard deviation are evaluated to be 55 and 14, respectively. The correlation analysis indicates that the coefficient is estimated as 0.058, and then correlation between the quantitative results and cost is evaluated to be a little positive.

In the OFDM system, IQ imbalance problem happens at the RF front-end of transceiver, which degrades the BER(bit error rate) performance because it affects the constellation in the received signal. Also, phase noise is generated in the local oscillator of transceivers and it destroys the orthogonality between the subcarriers. Conventional PNS algorithm is effective for phase noise suppression, but it is not useful anymore when there are jointly IQ(In-phase and Quadrature) imbalance and phase noise. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the effect of IQ imbalance and phase noise generated in the down-conversion of the receiver. Then, we estimate and compensate the IQ imbalance and phase noise at the same time. Compared with the conventional method that IQ imbalance after IFFT is estimated and compensated in front of FFT via the feedback, this proposed method extracts and compensates effect of IQ imbalance after FFT stage. In case IQ imbalance and phase noise exist at the same time, we can decrease complexity because it is needless to use elimination of IQ imbalance in time domain and training sequences and preambles. Also, this method shows that it reduces the ICI and CPE component using adaptive forgetting factor of MMSE after FFT.
