A new interactive multiobjective decision making technique, which is called the fuzzy sequential proxy optimization technique, has been proposed. This technique is the revised version the sequential proxy optimization technique that the decision-maker's marginal rates of substitution is interpreted as type of L-R fuzzy numbers. It used to the square of normalized scalar product as the doptimalilry condition. However, this technique ignores the imprecise nature of a decision-maker's judgement of marginal rates of substitution. Also, it have a shortcoming that can be only applied over three objective functions. In this paper, considering the imprecise nature of a decision-maker's judgement, we presents an interactive fuzzy decision-making method on the basis of the decision-maker's MRS presented through the use of five types of membership functions including non-linear functions. FORTRAN programs that run in conversational mode are developed to implement man-machine interactive procedure.

In this paper, the vocabulary-independent continuous speech recognition system for speech control of intelligent home-network is presented. This study suggests a conversational scenario of continuous natural vocabulary based upon keywords for recognition on natural speech command, and a way of optimizing the recognition system by constructing a recognition system and database based upon keywords.

인터넷 사이트의 정보량이 증가함에 따라 사용자에게 필요한 정보를 검색할 수 있는 도구를제공해야 할 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 아직까지는 대부분의 사이트에서 키워드에 기반한 단순한 검색기법을 주로 사용하는데, 이 방식은 사용자의 의도를 제대로 표현하기 어렵기 때문에 검색결과가 지나치게 많거나 의도하지 않은 결과를 얻기 쉽고, 사용자가 자연스럽게 정보를 검색할 수 없는 문제가 있다. 이 논문에서는 자연어를 통하여 사용자에게 보다 정확하고 친절하게 적절한 정보를 제공해주는 대화형 에이전트를 제안한다. 이 시스템은 기존의 자연어처리 기법의 한계를 극복하기 위하여 질의-답변간의 융통성 있는 패턴매칭 기법을 사용하며, 효과적인 매칭을 위하여 포섭구조에 기반한 질의분류를 선행하는 구조적 패턴매칭 방식 사용한다. 간단한 웹 페이지를 소개하는 문제에 적용한 결과, 그 가능성 및 개선점을 파악할 수 있었다.

대화 에이전트의 역할은 사용자 입력으로부터 사용자의 의도를 분석하고 이에 따른 서비스를 제공하는 것이다. 하지만 사용자는 한 번에 서비스 제공에 필요한 모든 정보를 제공하지 않으므로 에이전트는 능동적으로 부가적인 정보를 추출할 수 있어야 한다. 따라서 자연스러운 대화를 진행하기 위해서 에이전트는 사용자주도형 대화와 시스템주도형 대화가 결합된 상호주도형 대화가 가능해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 상호주도형 대화를 제공할 수 있는 대화 에이전트의 스크립트(대화를 위한 데이터베이스) 언어를 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 대상 도메인에 맞춰서 대화 에이전트를 설계할 수 있도록, 도메인 관련 변수와 도메인 함수를 정의하여 사용할 수 있으며, 대화처리 기능으로, 사용자 의도 추론, 대화 흐름 관리, 사용자 입력 정보 추출 등의 기능을 지원한다. 제안한 방법의 가능성을 보이기 위해 일정관리 도메인에 제안하는 방법을 적용한다.

인터넷 이용자 수가 크게 증가함에 따라 각 사이트에서는 사용자가 원하는 정보를 효과적으로 제공해야 하는 문제가 대두되어, 최근 사용자와 자연어로 정보를 주고 받으며 사이트의 가상 대리자 역할을 수행할 수 있는 대화형 에이전트에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 많은 대화형 에이전트가 사용자의 의도를 고려하지 않은 단순한 패턴매칭 기법을 사용하기 때문에 사용자에게 만족스러운 답변을 주지 못하는 경우가 많이 발생한다. 이 논문에서는 대화형 에이전트가 보다 지능적인 대화를 수행할 수 있도록 하기 위해 베이지안 네트워크를 적용하여 사용자의 의도를 모델링하는 방법을 제시한다. 특정 도메인의 소개를 대행하는 대화형 에이전트에 적용한 결과, 사용자의 질의 의도를 파악함으로써 보다 대화 의도에 적합한 대답을 수행하여 그 기능성을 볼 수 있었다.

인터넷의 성장에 따라, 많은 웹사이트가 생기고, 더 많은 정보들이 웹사이트에 등록되었다. 웹사이트에서 등록되는 정보가 많을수록, 사용자가 원하는 정보를 얻기가 쉽지 않다. 따라서, 사용자가 찾는 정보를 쉽게 찾을 수 있도록, 웹사이트 내에 전문(full-text) 검색엔진을 도입하기도 한다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 자연어를 이용한 대화를 통해 웹사이트 내의 정보를 습득할 수 있도록 하는 대화형 도우미 에이전트를 위하여 한글 전처리 방법과 근사패턴매칭기법을 제안한다. 사용자가 문장을 입력하면, 동의어처리와 형태소 분석을 통해 사용자의 문장을 분석하고, 이미 작성되어 있는 지식과의 매칭을 통해 사용자에게 알맞은 대답을 제시한다. 지식은 XML 형식으로 저장되며, 사용자가 입력한 문장과 아주 똑같지 않더라도, 어느 정도의 유사도를 가지고 대답을 이끌어 낼수 있다.

This paper investigates the prosodic characteristics of discourse boundaries in spontaneous conversation. In this study, the term 'conversation' is taken to refer to a kind of talk in which two or more participants alternate in speaking about particular topics. Such a definition implies that there are at least two sorts of structures in the conversation: textual structure and interactive structure. This requires us to consider not just the textual influences on prosody but also the impact of interactive context. The aim of this study is to find out the acoustic-prosodic means used by speakers to signal discourse boundaries in conversational interaction. The results show that the conflict between the structural level and the interactive level obliges the speakers to reorganize the prosodic variables according to the type of discourse boundaries.

The purpose of this paper is to show how to convert the label files of the Buckeye Corpus of Spontaneous Speech [1] into Praat format and to introduce some of the Praat scripts that will enable linguists to study various aspects of spoken American English present in the corpus. During the conversion process, several types of errors were identified and corrected either manually or automatically by the use of scripts. The Praat script tools that have been developed can help extract from the corpus massive amounts of phonetic measures such as the VOT of plosives, the formants of vowels, word frequency information and speech rates that span several consecutive words. The script tools can extract additional information concerning the phonetic environment of the target words or allophones.

The purpose of this paper is to measure the first two vowel formants of the ten young female speakers from the Buckeye Corpus of Conversational Speech [1] automatically and then to analyze various potential factors that may affect the formant distribution of the eight peripheral vowels of English. The factors that were analyzed included the place of articulation, the content versus function word information, the syllabic stress information, the location in a word, the location in an utterance, the speech rate of the three consecutive words, and the word frequency in the corpus. The results indicate that the overall formant patterns of the female speakers were similar to those of earlier works. The effects of the factors on the realization of the two formants were also similar to those from the male speakers with minor differences.

The purpose of this study was to measure the first two vowel formants of the forty male and female speakers (twenty young vs. old male speakers and twenty young vs. old female speakers) from the Buckeye Corpus of Conversational Speech and to examine the vowel formant changes across two generations (younger vs. older). The results indicated that the vowel space of the younger generation (in their thirties or less) shifted to the lower left position compared to those of the older generation (in their forties or more) in both male and female speakers. When the results were compared to those of Peterson & Barney (1952), it appears that differences can be found in the size of the vowel spaces through time.
