  • In this paper, firstly we introduce the concepts of deferred Cesàro summable and deferred statistically convergent function, and secondly we introduce the concepts of deferred almost summable and deferred almost statistically convergent functions. Furthermore, we investigate the relations between these concepts.

학령기 아동을 위한 친구관계의 질 척도 개발에 관한 연구 (The Development of a Friendship Quality Scale for Elementary School Children)

  • The psychometric properties of a preliminary version of the Friendship Quality Scale(FQS) were examined with data collected from 300 3rd and 5th grade children. Scores on the Self-Perception Scale were obtained to examine convergent validity. The FQS assesses friendship quality in 9 sub-scales, inclusive of 6 friendship functions. Factor analysis confirmed the 9 sudscale structure of the FQS for 5th graders, but 4 friendship functions instead of 6 were a better fit for 3rd graders. Except for one, the sub-scales showed relatively high internal consistency ; Cronbach ${\alpha}$ ranged from .70 to .93. Convergent validity was indicated by correlations between self-perception and sex differences in friendship functions. Friendship functions and satisfaction were related to self-perceptions in social acceptance, behavior, and global self-worth. Girls reported higher friendship functions and satisfaction in friendship than boys.

GENERALIZED 'USEFUL' INFORMATION GENERATING FUNCTIONS

  • In the present paper, one new generalized 'useful' information generating function and two new relative 'useful' information generating functions have been defined with their particular and limiting cases. It is interesting to note that differentiations of these information generating functions at t=0 or t=1 give some known and unknown generalized measures of useful information and 'useful' relative information. The information generating functions facilitates to compute various measures and that has been illustrated by applying these information generating functions for Uniform, Geometric and Exponential probability distributions.

ON THE CONVERGENCE OF THE UOBYQA METHOD

  • We analyze the convergence properties of Powell's UOBYQA method. A distinguished feature of the method is its use of two trust region radii. We first study the convergence of the method when the objective function is quadratic. We then prove that it is globally convergent for general objective functions when the second trust region radius p converges to zero. This gives a justification for the use of p as a stopping criterion. Finally, we show that a variant of this method is superlinearly convergent when the objective function is strictly convex at the solution.

Synthesis and Selective Transport Properties of Cleft-Type Ionophores Having Two Convergent Hydroxamic Acid Functions

  • A series of cleft-type ionophores having two convergent hydroxamic acid functions are prepared and their selective ionophoric properties toward heavy metal and transition metal ions have been investigated. Hydroxamic acids 3 exhibited a prominent selectivity toward heavy metal ions of Hg2+ and Pb2+, and transition metal ions of Cu2+ over other transition metal and alkaline earth metal ions from slightly acidic source phase (pH 6) to an acidic receiving phase (pH 1). Selective ionophoric properties toward Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions over other surveyed metal ions are also confirmed by the FAB-MS measurements.

Synthesis and Ion Binding Properties of Rebek's Cleft-Type Ionophores Bearing Two Convergent Carboxylix Acid Functions

  • A series of new ligands having convergent dicarboxylic acid functions, based-upon Rebek's cleft-type ionophore, have been prepared and their ion binding properties were investigated by the competitive extraction and transport experiments. The main purpose of the modification was to increase the lipophilicity of the Rebek's ionophore, which was attempted by utilizing propyl analog of Kemp's triacid or by changing the bridging unit. Ionophores 5 and 6 were found to have a pronounced ion-binding property toward Ca2+ ion. The selectivity in competitive extraction of ionophore 5 at pH 9 for Ca2+ over Mg2+ and Sr2+ is 2.0 and 59.3, respectively. The selectivity in competitive transport of ionophore 5 for Ca2+ over Mg2+ and Sr2+ is 29.8 and 99.3, and that of ionophore 6 is 10.0 and 23.2, respectively.
