  • Recently, small and medium-sized rahmen-type bridges have been developed as a technology that ensures the stability of structural behavior and the safety of use at the same time by using efficient and economical materials that make up the convergence section of reinforced bar, structural steel and concrete. This study is about a rahmen-type structure applied with the installation and dismantling of the strut. It improves the serviceability of the structure by forming multi-points and efficiently applies the convergence section of structural steel and concrete materials to the structural system changes to induce the displacement improvement effect additionally. By constructing mock-up models for the beam-column joint, the displacement was calculated and compared, and this was compared and analyzed by numerical analysis. The final displacement showed an improvement effect of 13.46% to 36.28% based on the vertical displacement of the existing structure without struts through the experiment of the mock-up models. As a result of analysis by numerical analysis method, the displacement improvement effect of 42.89% could be derived.

  • In this paper, the theoretical method of measuring the tunnel convergence and underground displacement, the objective indices of assessing safety for tunnel construction, using the fiber optic sensor is studied by developing the program to automatically measure them. The model test of Con'c beam is conducted to evaluate reliability of the fiber optic sensor. Furthermore, using the RS232 communication protocol as well as Visual C# and Visual C++, the programming tools, the program was developed to detect automatically the measured value of the fiber optic sensor, calculate the tunnel convergence and underground displacement, predict the deformed shape of the tunnel, and evaluate loosening zone due to the tunnel excavation.

  • It is generalized to measure the arch settlement and convergence during tunnel construction for monitoring its mechanical stability. The initial convergence rate a day is defined from the first convergence measurement and the final convergence defined as the convergence measured lastly. The initial and the final tunnel arch settlement are defined like the preceding convergence. In the study, the relations between the initial and final displacements of a shallow tunnel are analyzed. The measurements were performed in the tunnel of subway 906 construction site in Seoul. The overburden is 10-20 m and the tunnel goes through weathered soil/rock. The width and height of the tunnel are about 11.5 m, 10m, respectively. So this is a shallow tunnel in weak rock. The length of tunnel is about 1,820 m and the tunnel was constructed in 2 stages, dividing upper and lower half. The numbers of measurement locations of arch settlement and convergence are 184 and 258, respectively. As a result, the initial displacement rate and the final displacement are comparatively larger in the section of weathered soil.

  • Measured convergence data of a tunnel were investigated by means of statistical and regression analysis, where the rock mass were mainly composed of andesite and granite. The rock mass around tunnel were classified by RMR method into five different ratings, and then convergence data which belong to individual ratings were statistically processed to find out the appropriate regression equations. Exponential equations were better coincided with measured data than logarithmic equations. As the number of rock mass rating was increased, the magnitude and standard deviation of convergence were increased. Final convergence data were also investigated to study the relevance with both maximum displacement rate and early measured convergence. Some brief results of their relevance are presented. For instance, the regression coefficient between final convergence and maximum displacement rate was turned out to be 0.87 for this studied tunnel.

  • Multigrid method and acceleration by conjugate gradient method for first-order system least squares (FOSLS) using bilinear finite elements are developed for various boundary value problems of planar linear elasticity. They are two-stage algorithms that first solve for the displacement flux variable, then for the displacement itself. This paper focuses on solving for the displacement flux variable only. Numerical results show that the convergence is uniform even as the material becomes nearly incompressible. Computations for convergence factors and discretization errors are included. Heuristic arguments to improve the convergences are discussed as well.

  • Stress and displacement fields of a Mode III crack propagating along the normal to gradient in an orthotropic functionally gradient materials (OFGM), which has (1) an exponential variation of shear modulus and density, and (2) linear variation of shear modulus with a constant density, are derived. The equations of motion in OFGM are developed and solution to the displacement and stress fields for a propagating crack at constant speed though an asymptotic analysis. The first three terms in expansion of stress and displacement are derived to explicitly bring out the influence of nonhomogeneity. When the FGM constant ${\zeta}$ is zero or $r{\rightarrow}0$, the fields for OFGM are almost same as the those for homogeneous orthotropic material. Using the stress components, the effects of nonhomogeneity on stress components are discussed.

  • In tunnelling by NATM convergence data are most Importantly to ascertain the safety of tunnel. Therefore, a reliable method is required that can predict ultimate displacements by using earler displacement data. Displacement forecasting method is classified into statistical method and functional regression method. Convergence data measured in Seoul subway 5~45 site during '92.5 ~ '92.12 were analyzed by above said two methods. The analysis results of convergence data show that the functional regression method is more relieable in completely weathered rock, but the statistical method in slightly wearhred rock.

  • Cadmium compounds with one dimension (1D) nanostructures have attracted attention for their excellent electrical and optical properties. In this study, vertically aligned CdTe-Si nanostructures with high density were synthesized by several simple chemical reactions. First, l D Te nanostructures were synthesized by silver assisted chemical Si wafer etching followed by a galvanic displacement reaction of the etched Si nanowires. Nanowire length was controlled from 1 to $25{\mu}m$ by adjusting etching time. The Si nanowire galvanic displacement reaction in $HTeO_2{^+}$ electrolyte created hybrid 1D Te-branched Si nanostructures. The sequential topochemical reaction resulted in $Ag_2Te-Si$ nanostructures, and the cation exchange reaction with the hybrid 1D Te-branched Si nanostructures resulted in CdTe-Si nanostructures. Wet chemical processes including metal assisted etching, galvanic displacement, topochemical and cation exchange reactions are proposed as simple routes to fabricate large scale, vertically aligned CdTe-Si hybrid nanostructures with high density.

  • Displacement of tunnel face is important issues for the evaluation of tunnel safety. In this study, conventional convergence and displacement data measured from horizontal inclinometer were analyzed to investigate the trend and characteristics of tunnel deformation during construction. Trend of measured displacement agreed with general understanding of tunnel deformation prior to excavation. It shows that displacement measured from horizontal inclinometer can be used to preestimate the total deformation of tunnel.
