  • The structural and microwave dielectric properties of $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3SrTiO_3$ ceramics with sintering temperature were investigated. All the sample of the $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3SrTiO_3$ ceramics were prepared by conventional miked oxide method and the sintering temperature was $1425\~1500^{\circ}C$. The hexagonal phase of $Mg_4Ta_2O_9$ and the cubic phase of $SrTiO_3$ were coexisted. The porosity of $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3SrTiO_3$ ceramics were reduced with increasing sintering temperature. In the case of $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_9-0.3SrTiO_3$ ceramics sintered at $1475^{\circ}C$, dielectric constant, quality factor and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency were 14.51, 82,596 GHz and $-3.14\;ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • This study investigates the influence of sintering temperature on the magnetic properties and frequency dispersion of the complex permeability of Ni-Zn-Cu ferrites used for magnetic shielding in near-field communication (NFC) systems. Sintered specimens of $(Ni_{0.7}Zn_{0.3})_{0.96}Cu_{0.04}Fe_2O_4$ are prepared by conventional ceramic processing. The complex permeability is measured by an RF impedance analyzer in the range of 1 MHz to 1.8 GHz. The real and imaginary parts of the complex permeability depend sensitively on the sintering temperature, which is closely related to the microstructure, including grain size and pore distribution. In particular, internal pores within grains produced by rapid grain growth decrease the permeability and increase the magnetic loss at the operating frequency of NFC (13.56 MHz). At the optimized sintering temperature ($1225-1250^{\circ}C$), the highest permeability and lowest magnetic loss can be obtained.

  • The $BaTiO_3+xNb_2O_5$(x=6, 8, 10wt%) ceramics were prepared by conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties of the $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ ceramics with the sintering temperature and addition of $Nb_2O_5$ were investigated by XRD and SEM. Increasing the sintering temperature, the $2{\theta}$ value of BT(110) peak was shifted to the lower degree and intensity of the $Ba_6Ti_2Nb_8O_{30}$ (133) peak was increased. Increasing the addition of $Nb_2O_5$, the intensity of $BaTiNb_4O_{13}$ (201) peak was decreased and $Ba_6Ti_2Nb_8O_{30}$ (133) peak was increased. The grain size of the $BaTiO_3+Nb_2O_5$ ceramics sintered at $1500^{\circ}C$ were almost uniform.

  • The effect of different thermal treatments on the sub-50 nm copper nanoparticles is examined in the aspects of chemical, electrical and surface morphology. The copper nanoparticles are chemically synthesized and fabricated for paste-type solution. Simple bar coating method is practiced as a deposition process to form copper thin film on a typical slide glass. Deposited copper thin films are annealed by two different routes: general tube furnace with 99.99 % Ar atmosphere and selective laser sintering process. The thermal behavior of the different thermal-treated copper thin films is compared by SEM, XRD, FT-IR and XPS analysis. In this study, the laser sintering process ensures low annealing temperature, fast working speed and ambient-accessible route. Moreover, the laser-sintered copper thin film shows good electrical property and enhanced chemical stability than conventional thermal annealing process. Consequently, the proposed laser sintering process can be compatible with plastic substrate for flexible applications.

  • The effects of residual impurities on solid state sintering of the powder injection molded (PIMed) W-15wt%Cu nanocomposite powder were investigated. The W-Cu nanocomposite powder was produced by the mech-ano-chemical process consisting of high energy ball-milling and hydrogen reduction of W blue powder-cuO mixture. Solid state sintering of the powder compacts was conducted at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2~10 h in hydrogen atmosphere. The den-sification of PIM specimen was slightly larger than that of PM(conventional PM specimen), being due to fast coalescence of aggregate in the PIM. The only difference between PIM and PM specimens was the amount of residual impurities. The carbon as a strong reduction agent effectively reduced residual W oxide in the PIM specimen. The $H_2O$ formed by $H_2$ reduction of oxide disintegrated W-Cu aggregates during removal process, on the contrary to this, micropore volume rapidly decreased due to coalescence of the disintegrated W-Cu aggregates during evolution of CO.It can be concluded that the higher densification was due to the earlier occurred Cu phase spreading that was induced by effective removal of residual oxides by carbon.

  • The 0.8Ba($Zn_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})O_3$-0.2Ba($Co_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ ceramics were prepared by conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties of the 0.8BZT-0.2BCN ceramics with the sintering temperature were investigated by XRD and SEM. The 0.8BZT-0.2BCN ceramics had a superstructure reflection plane of (100), (200). Increasing the sintering temperature. the ordering parameter of B-site atoms were increased. The lattice constant of 0.8BZT-0.2BCN ceramics was 3.97${\AA}$. Increasing the sintering temperature, the average gram sizes were increased. In the case of the 0.8BZT-0.2BCN ceramics sintered at 1500$^{\circ}C$, the average grain size and bulk density were 1.56${\mu}m$, 6.93$g/cm^3$, respectively.

  • The 0.6Ba(Zn$_{1}$3/Ta$_{2}$3/)O$_3$-0.4Ba(Co$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$ceramics were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties of the 0.6BZT-0.4BCN ceramics with the sintering temperature were investigated by XRD, SEM. The 0.6BZT-0.4BCN ceramics had a complex-perovskite structure. Increasing the sintering temperature, the peak intensity of the superstructure reflection plane were increased and the density and ordering were increased. The density of the 0.6BZT-0.4BCN ceramics sintered at 1475$^{\circ}C$ was 6.455[g/cm$^3$].

Compaction and Sintering Characteristics of High Energy Ball Milled Mn-Zn Ferrite Powders

  • The Mn-Zn ferrite powders were prepared by high energy ball milling, then compacted and sintered at various temperatures to assess their sintering behavior and magnetic properties. The initial ferrite powders were spherical in shape with the size of approximately 70 ㎛. After 3 h of ball milling at 300 rpm, aggregated powders ~230 nm in size and composed of ~15 nm nanoparticles were formed. The milled powders had a density of ~70 % when compacted at 490 MPa for 3 min. In the samples subsequently sintered at 1,273 K ~ 1,673 K for 3 h, the MnZnFe2O4 phase was detected. The density of the sintered samples had a tendency to increase with increasing sintering temperature up to 1,473 K, which produced the highest density of 98 %. On the other hand, the sample sintered at 1,373 K had the highest micro-hardness of approximately 610 Hv, which is due to much finer grains.

  • 연료전지에 사용되는 귀금속 전류집전체의 물성은 소재 기공도에 크게 영향을 받는다. 따라서 소재 기공도를 제어 위한 다양한 노력들이 진행되어왔다. 이중 많이 사용되는 전략으로 재료 열처리 시 기공형성제를 첨가하는 것이다. 기존의 기공형성제는 3차원 구조체였다. 본 연구에서는 차별화 전략으로 Ag 전류집전체의 기공도를 높이기 위해 2차원 구조 나노시트를 소결방지제로 첨가하였다. 실제로 나노시트 첨가에 의해 소결밀도가 감소되는 것을 보여주었다. 2차원 소재로는 초나노 두께(~ 1 nm)를 갖는 RuO2 나노시트가 이용되었다.

  • The (1-x)MgTiO$_3$-xSrTiO$_3$(x=0,0.1) ceramics were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties were investigated with sintering temperature and composition ratio by XRD, SEM and DT-TGA. Increasing the sintering temperature from 130$0^{\circ}C$ to 1$600^{\circ}C$, second phase was decreased and grain size was increased. In the case of 0.9 MgTiO$_3$-0.1SrTiO$_3$ ceramics sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$, dielectric constant, quality factor and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency were 22.61, 10,928(at 1GHz), +50.26ppm/$^{\circ}C$ , respectively.
