로타리킬른 소성 골재 물성예측을 위한 전기로 실험 (Experiments of electric furnace simulator for property prediction of the artificial lightweight aggregate sintered by rotary kiln)

  • 소형 전기로 및 이동장치가 있는 시뮬레이터를 사용하여 로타리킬른에서 생산되는 인공경량골재의 물성을 예측 할 수 있다면 대규모 로타리 킬른을 사용하여 인공경량골재 시제품 생산할 때 필요한 물자와 시간을 대폭 절감할 수 있다. 본 실험에서는 생산될 인공경량 골재의 물성을 정확히 예측할 수 있는 시뮬레이터를 제작하여 실제 로타리 킬른에서 생산된 골재의 물성과 비교함으로써 그 유용성을 검토하고자 하였다. 골재의 물성을 예측하기 위해서 8 mm 크기의 에코 인공경량 골재를 사용하였고 시뮬레이터의 분위기를 탄소를 이용해 조절하였다. 시뮬레이터와 로타리킬른에서 소성된 골재의 비중, 흡수율, 골재의 단면의 면적을 측정하고 비교하였다. 산화 분위기와 달리 환원분위기에서 소성된 시편은 탄소량이 증가할수록 비중이 증가하였으며 흡수율은 탄소 첨가량이 증가할수록 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 소성분위기는 환원 분위기 조성을 위해 탄소분말 0.7g을 첨가하였을 때 로라리 킬른과 가장 흡사한 분위기가 형성되는 것으로 판단되며, 두 골재의 물성 역시 비슷하였다.

Apple Quality as Affected by the Precooling Rate and $O_2$ Pulldown Rate in Controlled Atmosphere Storage

  • Quality attributes of apple are greatly affected by the cooling rate and environmental conditions during storage. Studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of cooling rate on different quality attributes of apple. The effect of $O_2$ pulldown rate of the CA chamber on the quality of apple was also determined. Two methods were used viz. conventional CA procedure and rapid CA procedure. Apples stored by medium and slow cooling methods lost its flesh firmness significantly from an initial level of 4.55 kg to 2.83 kg and 2.27 kg, respectively on 35 days after storage whereas, in rapid cooling, the firmness level changed from 4.55 kg to 3.20 kg on 35 days after storage. At the end of 35 days of storage, titratable acidity decreased insignificantly from an initial value of 0.24l% to 0.239% in the case of rapid CA whereas in the case of conventional CA it dropped significantly to 0.215% from its initial level. The initial flesh firmness of 4.55 kg also changed significantly to 4.05 kg on 35 days after storage in conventional CA whereas in rapid CA it changed to 4.36 kg, which was found to be non-significant at 5% level of significance. Total soluble solids increased from an initial level of $12.43^{\circ}$Bx to $12.60^{\circ}C.$ Bx on 35 days after storage in rapid CA whereas it increased to $13.07^{\circ}$ Bx in conventional CA. Ascorbic acid content of apple juice decreased insignificantly from 6.67 mg/100 mL to 5.87 mg/100 mL on 35 days after storage in rapid CA whereas in conventional CA, it decreased significantly to 5.27 mg/100 mL from its initial level.

봉상형 육티탄산칼륨(K2Ti6O13) 제조 및 형상제어 (Synthesis and Morphology Control of Rod Shaped Potassium Hexatitanate)

  • Rod shaped Potassium hexatitanate ($K_2Ti_6O_{13}$) was synthesized from colloidal mixture of $TiO_2$, KOH and graphene oxide (GO) by aerosol spray drying and post heat treatment. Firstly, $TiO_2-KOH-GO$ composites were fabricated by aerosol spray drying in argon atmosphere. The composites were then calcined to form a rod shaped morphology of potassium titanate (KTO) in the presence of graphene at $900^{\circ}C$ for 3 h in argon atmosphere. Finally, the rod shaped KTO was obtained after removal of graphene (GR) at $800^{\circ}C$ and 3 h in air atmosphere. Characterization of the synthesized $K_2Ti_6O_{13}$ was carried out using the XRD, BET and FE-SEM. The length and diameter of the synthesized $K_2Ti_6O_{13}$ could be controlled by weight fraction of GO in the aerosol precursor. The length of $K_2Ti_6O_{13}$ rod increased with decreasing its diameter as GO concentration increased. The aspect ratio of the synthesized $K_2Ti_6O_{13}$ rod was controlled from 5 to 13.

Fabrication of interface-controlled Josephson Junctions by Ion beam damage

  • We have demonstrated ramp-edge Josephson junctions using high temperature superconductors without depositing artificial barriers. We fabricated a surface barrier formed naturally during an ion beam etching process and the annealing under the oxygen atmosphere. The experimental results imply that the barrier natures such as the resistivity are varied by the annealing conditions and the ion milling conditions including the beam voltages. Thus, the ann eating and etching conditions should be optimized to obtain excellent junction properties. In optimizing the fabricating factors, the interface-controlled junctions showed resistively shunted junctions like current-voltage characteristics and an excellent uniformity. These junctions exhibited a spread ($1\sigma$) of $I_{c}$ is 10% fur chips containing 7 junctions at 50K.K.

  • 상대습도 65%, 온도 $35^{\circ}C$의 저장 조건하에서 지방질의 가수분해를 촉진 시킨 미강과 상대습도 70-90% 온도 $25-30^{\circ}C$의 공기중에 방치하여 가수분해와 산화를 동시에 촉진시킨 미강을 시료로 지방질의 산화에 따라 생성된 산화 생성물이 단백질의 변패에 미치는 영향을 유리아미노산 함량의 경시적인 변화로써 살펴 보았다. 산소농도를 제한한 system에서는 자장초기에 유리아미노산의 함량이 증가하다가 지방질의 산화가 진행되면서 감소하기 시작하였고, 이러한 감소현상은 공기중에 방치한 실험군에서는 저장 초기부터 일어나기 시작하여 산화가 급격하게 진행된 저장 말기에는 그 감소 현상이 현저하였다. 이들 아미노산의 감소와 지방질의 산패정도를 통계처리한 결과, 유리아미노산 중 serine, glutamic acid, proline, methionine, lysine, histidine, 그리고 arginine 등의 함량 감소는 지방질의 산패에 의한 현저한 영향을 받았다(p<0.05).

  • 소결 분위기가 금속입자분산 세라믹스기 복합체의 미세 조직 및 물성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하고자 화학적 방법으로 합성한 $Al_2O_3$/Fe-Ni 나노복합분말을 수소 및 아르곤 가스 분위기, 또한 소결온도 등으로 제어하여 열간가압 소결하였다. 수소분위기에서 소결한 복합체는 아르곤분위기의 경우보다 반응상 $FeAl_2O_4$의 형성이 억제되었으며, 증가된 파괴강도 및 인성 값을 나타내었다. 또한, 소결 온도를 낮추었을 경우 기지상 및 금속 분산상의 미세화와 향상된 기계적 성질을 얻을 수 있었다. 소결 조건에 따른 기계적 특성의 변화는 주로 반응상의 형성과 관련된 미세조직 특성에 의존하는 것으로 해석하였다.

  • The effects of the heat treatment temperature and of the atmosphere on the dehydrogenation and hydrogen reduction of ball-milled $TiH_2-WO_3$ powder mixtures are investigated for the synthesis of Ti-W powders with controlled microstructure. Homogeneously mixed powders with refined $TiH_2$ particles are successfully prepared by ball milling for 24h. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses show that the powder mixture heat-treated in Ar atmosphere is composed of Ti, $Ti_2O$, and W phases, regardless of the heat treatment temperature. However, XRD results for the powder mixture, heat-treated at $600^{\circ}C$ in a hydrogen atmosphere, show $TiH_2$ and TiH peaks as well as reaction phase peaks of Ti oxides and W, while the powder mixture heat-treated at $900^{\circ}C$ exhibits only XRD peaks attributed to Ti oxides and W. The formation behavior of the reaction phases that are dependent on the heat treatment temperature and on the atmosphere is explained by thermodynamic considerations for the dehydrogenation reaction of $TiH_2$, the hydrogen reduction of $WO_3$ and the partial oxidation of dehydrogenated Ti.

공기 분위기에서 스파크 방전을 이용한 은 나노입자 생성 (Generation of Silver Nanoparticles by Spark Discharge Aerosol Generator Using Air as a Carrier Gas)

  • A spark discharge aerosol generator using air as a carrier gas has successfully been applied to silver nanoparticle production. The spark discharge between two silver electrodes, which was periodically obtained by discharging the capacitor, produced sufficient high temperatures to evaporate a small fraction of the silver electrodes. The silver vapor was subsequently supersaturated by rapid cooling and condensed to silver nanoparticles by nucleation and condensation. The morphology of the generated particles observed by transmission electron microscope was spherical. The element composition of the nanoparticles was silver, which was determined by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The crystal phase of the particles spark-generated under air atmosphere was composed of silver and silver oxides phase, which was determined by Xray diffraction analysis. While the nanoparticles generated under nitrogen atmosphere had only silver phase. This XRD data indicates that some fraction of the evaporated silver vapor could be oxidized in air atmosphere by the reaction with oxygen. A stable operation of the spark discharge generator has been achieved. The size and concentration of the particles can be easily controlled by altering the repetition frequency, capacitance, gap distance and flow rate of the spark discharge system.

  • 저열팽창성 금속인 Kovar표면을 유리와 접합하기에 적합한 spinel을 주상으로 하는 균일한 산화막을 형성할 수 있도록 $N_2/H_2$$H_2O$가 첨가된 분위기에서의 산화 거동에 대하여 조사하였다. Kovar 산화는 확산에 의해 지배되는 공정이며, 이때 산화 활성화 에너지는 31.61 kacl/mol 이었다. $600^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 결과 spinel을 주상으로 하는 0.5 $mu extrm{m}$ 이하의 연속적이고 균일한 외부 산화막을 얻을 수 있었다. TEM 분석 결과 격자 상수가 7.9 $\AA$인 spinel 임을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러므로, 가습된 $N_2/H_2$분위기에서 산화한 Kovar는 유리와 접합에 적용 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Fabrication of Lotus Nickel Through Thermal Decomposition Method of Compounds under Ar Gas Atmosphere

  • Lotus-type porous nickel with cylindrical pores was fabricated by unidirectional solidification under an Ar gas atmosphere using the thermal decomposition method of the compounds such as sodium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, and titanium hydride. The decomposed gas does form the pores in liquid nickel, and then, the pores become the cylindrical pores during unidirectional solidification. The decomposed particles from the compounds do play a rule on nucleation sites of the pores. The behavior of pore growth was controlled by atmosphere pressure, which can be explained by Boyle's law. The porosity and pore size decreased with increasing Ar gas pressure when the pores contain hydrogen gas decomposed from calcium and sodium hydroxide and titanium hydride, ; however it they did not change when the pores contain containing carbon dioxide decomposed from calcium carbonate. These results indicate that nickel does not have the solubility of carbon dioxide. Lotus-type porous metals can be easily fabricated by the thermal decomposition method, which is superior to the conventional fabrication method used to pressurized gas atmospheres.
