Design of a Geometric Adaptive Straightness Controller for Shaft Straightening Process (축교정을 위한 기하학적 진직도 적응제어기 설계)

  • In order to minimize straightness error of deflected shaft, a geometric adaptive straightness controller system is studied. A multi-step straightening and a three-point bending process have been developed for the geometric adaptive straightness controller. Load-deflection relationship, on-line identification of variations of material properties, on-line springback prediction, and real-time hydraulic control methodology are studied for the three-point bending process. By deflection pattern analysis and fuzzy self-learning method in the multi-step straightening process, a straightening point and direction, desired permanent deflection and supporting condition are determined. An automatic straightening machine has been fabricated for rack bars by using the developed ideas. Validity of the proposed system is verified through experiments.

  • We presents an edge-based point correlation algorithm for fast and stable visual inspection system. Conventional algorithms based on NGC(normalized gray-level correlation) have to overcome some difficulties in applying automated inspection systems to real factory environment. First of all, NGC algorithms involve highly complex computation and thus require high performance hardware for realtime process. In addition, lighting condition in realistic factory environments is not stable and therefore intensity variation from uncontrolled lights gives many troubles for applying NGC directly as pattern matching algorithm. We propose an algorithm to solve these problems, using thinned and binarized edge data, which are obtained from the original image. A point correlation algorithm with the thinned edges is introduced with image pyramid technique to reduce the computational complexity. Matching edges instead of using original gray-level image pixels overcomes problems in NGC method and pyramid of edges also provides fast and stable processing. All proposed methods are proved by the experiments using real images.

  • B-spline curves and surfaces are effective solutions for design and modelling of the freeform models. The control methods of these are using with control points, knot vectors and weight of NURBS. Using control point is easy and resonable for representation of general models. But the movement of control points bring out the reformation of original convex hull. The B-splines with nonuniform knot vector provide good result of the shape modification without convex hull reforming. B-splines are constructed with control points and basis functions. Nonuniform knot vectors effect on the basis functions. And the blending curves describe the prorities of knot vectors. Applying of these, users will forecast of the reformed curves after modifying controllabler primitives.

  • The near-optimal control algorithm for central cooling system has been developed for minimizing energy consumption while maintaining the comfort of indoor thermal environment in terms of the environmental variables such as time varying indoor cooling load and outdoor temperatures. The optimal set-points of control parameters with near-optimal control are supply air temperature and chilled water temperature. This study has been done by using LapVIEW program with PID control in order to analyze the central cooling system energy saving.

  • It is one of the essential task to determine the absolute location of mobile robot during its navigation. In this paper we propose an algorithm to calculate the distance and orientation of camera from landmark through the visual image of stripe typed landmark. Exact closed form solution of camera location is obtained with the correspondences from vertical line on mark plane to the intersection point of projected line with horizontal axis of image plane. It needs only one line image information, so that location determination can be processed in real time.

  • 철강석 또는 석탄의 적치장에서는 이들 원석을 퍼내어 용광로로 보내주는 불출기(reclaimer)가 사용되고 있다. 불출기를 자동화하려면 야적파일에 불출용 회전 버킷(bucket)을 자동착지시키는 방법이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 야적 파일 표면위의 버킷 착지점을 추출하는 방법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 파일의 3차원 형상 검출, 파일의 등고선 추출, 불출기의 역기구학해의 도출 및 착지점 추출 알고리즘으로 이루어진다. 파일의 3차원 형상과 거리를 측정하기 위한 3차원 형상 검출기가 2차원 레이저 검출기에 수평주사(scanning)용 모터를 부착하여 개발하였고, 다 단계의 영상처리를 통해 버킷이 작업할 수 있도록 파일의 작업 등고선을 추출하였다. 불출기가 회전 버킷에 의해 기구학적으로 여유자유도로 이루어 졌음을 보였으며, 역기구학 해를 구하는 방법을 아울러 제시하였다. 그리고 버킷의 착지점을 과부하 방지와 단위 시간당 생산성을 최대화하는 성능기준에 근거하여 구하였다. 또한 개발된 시스템을 제철소 원석 야적장의 불출기에 설치 시험하여 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • This paper is concerned with automation of tower cranes in view of the robust control of tower crane during take-off, load hoisting, load lowering and landing. The model equation of the tower crane is induced by using Lagrange's equation and it is linearized at equillibrium point. The control is realized by adopting the optimal regulator method. The effectiveness is proved through the experimental results for the oscillation control of cargo rope and the position controls of trolley and boom by the implementation of digital control using 16 bits microcomputer for the designed optimal control law.

  • This paper is dealing with speed control of Darrieus Wind Turbine, which can be figured out from torque equation. The operating point of Darrieus Wind Turbine can be found from speed-torque curve, which is either stable or instable. The transfer of operating point due to variation of wind speed and generating power is shown in this paper.

  • In this paper, a floating-point processor which satisfied the subset of the proposed IEEE standard has been designed and realized by TTL chips. This processor consists of a floating-point arithmetic unit and a control sequencer. AHPL has been used in the design of sequencer. The execution times for the arithmetic operations were measured and compared with other microprocessor. The results had shown faster operations compared to the Z-80 processor. Though this processor was built by TTL chips, it could be fabricated as a one-chip processor.

  • In this research an equilibrium point of a Wheeled Inverted Pendulum (WIP) running on an inclined road is derived and validated by some experiments. Generally, The WIP has stable and unstable equilibrium point. Only unstable equilibrium point is interested in the research. To keep the WIP on the unstable equilibrium point, the WIP is consistently controlled. A controller for the WIP needs a reference state for the equilibrium point. The reference state can be obtained by studying an equilibrium point of the WIP. This research is deriving dynamic equations of the WIP running on the inclined road and equilibrium of it based on statics. Several experiments are carried out to show the validation of the equilibrium point.
