Invariant-Feature Based Object Tracking Using Discrete Dynamic Swarm Optimization

  • With the remarkable growth in rich media in recent years, people are increasingly exposed to visual information from the environment. Visual information continues to play a vital role in rich media because people's real interests lie in dynamic information. This paper proposes a novel discrete dynamic swarm optimization (DDSO) algorithm for video object tracking using invariant features. The proposed approach is designed to track objects more robustly than other traditional algorithms in terms of illumination changes, background noise, and occlusions. DDSO is integrated with a matching procedure to eliminate inappropriate feature points geographically. The proposed novel fitness function can aid in excluding the influence of some noisy mismatched feature points. The test results showed that our approach can overcome changes in illumination, background noise, and occlusions more effectively than other traditional methods, including color-tracking and invariant feature-tracking methods.

  • A new type of gripper for micrometer-size objects is developed using piezoelectric multi-layer benders. It is composed of three chopsticks, two of which are designed to grip micro-objects. The third one is reserved for helping the two when objects are released from the chopsticks. It is well known that a micro object is much easier to grasp than to release it after holding it. The electrostatic force between the chopsticks and an object is believed to be the main cause of adhesion in a dry environment. The surface tension becomes very important when liquids are present or in a liquid. The third auxiliary chopsticks is introduced to solve there surface effects. All the three chopsticks are made of tungsten wires with sharpened ends by etching. When grasping microparts, the two chopsticks are utilized, and, when releasing them anywhere the parts are located, the third one reduces the electrostatic force between the objects and the chopstick may be to help the other two chopsticks to hold an objects in a desired orientation. We constructed the three chopstick gripoer for micro objects and test their function by holding and releasing an object of a diameter of 100 micrometers. We make use of open loop voltage control. The bender displacement resolution is sub-micrometer. The gripping forces, about tens of mN are obtained. The experiment shows that the third auxiliary chopstick functions effectively.

조망점의 선정기준과 경향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Criteria and Trends in Selecting Viewpoint)

  • The purpose of this study is to construct the fundamental data for setting a valid viewpoint as the base of landscape planning and management practices. To do this, we analyzed the preceding dissertations and landscape plan reports which presented the selection criteria of viewpoint. 37 research samples containing the criteria of viewpoint were investigated. The selection criteria and trends of viewpoint were analyzed as follows : Firstly, by analyzing the preceding researches we were able to grasp the criteria that had been used to set viewpoint. Secondly, we investigated the differences in criteria of selecting the viewpoint according to the research type, research time and view object. Finally, we analyzed the trends of viewpoint selection criteria and classified the characteristics and selection criteria of viewpoint based on an overview of the research content. It can be concluded that the criteria of viewpoint are intimately linked to the view object, the purpose and role of viewpoint which is related to the landscape planning and management practices. According to this study, we can find that the selection criteria and trends of viewpoint have been used in the research related to the view plane following the 1990's. Hereafter, additional research and the comparisons with researches abroad is necessary to set the objective selection criteria of viewpoint.

  • 사물인터넷은 네트워크에 연결된 사람, 사물, 공간 등 모든 것들(Things)이 실시간으로 데이터를 생성하고 해당 객체간의 정보가 수집, 공유, 활용되는 기술이나 환경을 일컫는다. 현재 헬스케어, 스마트홈 등 다양한 분야에서 연구가 진행이며 사물인터넷 환경에 지리적 공간과 인터넷 간의 연결성을 강조한 만물인터넷의 개념도 등장했다. 사람, 사물 등 각 객체간의 연결성이 중요하게 부각되면서 효율적이고 안전한 인증기술에 대한 연구가 진행 중이다. 이 논문에서는 사물인터넷 환경에서 사람, 사물 등 객체간의 상호인증을 위한 개선된 RADIUS(Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) 프로토콜을 제안한다.

  • 그리드 포탈 서비스는 기존의 어플리케이션 기반 그리드 서비스가 갖는 시간적 공간적 제약을 극복하여 보다 유연한 연구 환경을 제공한다. 그러나 사용자 인터페이스와 같은 사용자 요구 사항은 개발 기간 동안 불분명하기도 하고 자주 변하기도 한다. 그러므로 그리드 서비스를 위한 사용자 인터페이스를 만들고 유지 관리하는 비용을 줄일 수 있는 방안이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 유저 인터페이스 개발이 보다 쉽고 코드의 재사용률을 증가시킬 수 있는 객체 기반의 컨트롤 모델을 제안한다. 이 모델에서는 프레젠테이션 페이지의 구조를 보다 명확히 기술할 수 있고 액션들을 구현하는 것이 보다 쉽고 간단하다.

  • In this paper, we propose a series of calibrations f3r the x-ray three dimensional imaging system. In the developed x-ray system, a three dimensional inner and outer shape of an object can be reconstructed out of two dimensional transmitted x-ray image set, which are acquired by projecting x-ray to the object from different views. To achieve this, a reconstruction algorithm which estimates and updates the three dimensional volume from x-ray images is developed. The algorithm is named as uniform and simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique(USART) which is an iterative method estimating a 3D volume based on its projected images. In this method, it is assumed that the imaging conditions that are the relative positions between the x-ray sources, object and the image planes are blown. Practically it is not easy to know the three dimensional coordinate of the components of the system, since the x-ray is not visible and the image distortions are present due to the optical components in the system. In this paper, methods of correcting image distortions are present firstly. Then the coordinates of the x-ray systems are calibrated from the x-ray images of the grid pattern. Some experimental results on these calibrations are present and discussed.

  • 통신망 운용관리 시스템의 기능은 크게 구성, 성능, 장애, 과금 및 보안관리로 나뉘어 진다. 이 중에서 구성관리기능은 통신망의 구성정보를 수집하여 사용자 혹은 다른 관리 기능에 제공하는 기반 관리 기능이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 구성관리 기능을 CORBA (Common Object Request Broker) 분산환경 하에서 구축하는 방안을 제시한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 계층적 구성관리 시스템은 프로토콜 계층별로 관리객체가 설계 및 구현되어 다양한 데이터링크 계층 전송 기술들을 통합 관리할 수 있다. 또한 분산 MIB/MIT를 통해 다른 관리 기능 모듈과 효율적으로 연동할 수 있으며 확장성이 뛰어나다.

검출과 분류기능이 탑재된 실시간 지능형 PTZ카메라 (Real-Time PTZ Camera with Detection and Classification Functionalities)

  • 본 논문에서는 카메라 자체에서 움직임을 검출하고 분류된 객체를 추척할 수 있는 지능형 PTZ 카메라 시스템을 제안하였다. 추적하고자 하는 객체가 검출되면 분류하고, 객체의 움직임에 따라 PTZ 카메라가 실시간으로 추적한다. 검출을 위해 GMM을 사용하였고 검출성능을 높이기 위해 그림자 제거 기법을 적용하였다. 검출된 객체의 분류를 위해 Legendre 모멘트를 적용하였다. 본 논문에서는 카메라의 초점 조절을 사용하지않고 영상의 중심과 객체와의 방향, 거리, 속도 정보만을 이용하여 PTZ 카메라의 움직임을 제어하는 방법을 제안하였다. TI DM6446 Davinci를 이용하여 실시간으로 객체의 검출, 분류와 추적이 가능한 카메라 시스템을 구성하였다. 실험 결과 사람과 차량을 구분하고, 움직임의 속도가 빠른 차량에 대해서도 본 추적시스템은 안정적으로 동작함을 확인하였다.

Radar-based Security System: Implementation for Cluttered Environment

  • We present an experimental implementation of the inexpensive microwave security sensor that can detect both static and slowly moving objects in cluttered environment. The prototype consists of a frequency-modulated continuous wave radar sensor, control board or computer and software. The prototype was tested in a cluttered indoor environment. In case of intrusion or change of environment the sensor will give an alarm, determine the location of new object, change in its location and can detect a slowly moving target. To make a low-cost unit we use commercially available automotive radar and own signal processing techniques for object detection and tracking. The intruder detection is based on a comparison between current 'image' in memory and 'no-intrusion' reference image. The main challenge is to develop a reliable technique for detection of a relatively low-magnitude object signals hidden in multipath clutter echo signals. Various experimental measurements and computations have shown the feasibility and performance of the system.

Trivariate B-spline Approximation of Spherical Solid Objects

  • Recently, novel application areas in digital geometry processing, such as simulation, dynamics, and medical surgery simulations, have necessitated the representation of not only the surface data but also the interior volume data of a given 3D object. In this paper, we present an efficient framework for the shape approximations of spherical solid objects based on trivariate B-splines. To do this, we first constructed a smooth correspondence between a given object and a unit solid cube by computing their harmonic mapping. We set the unit solid cube as a rectilinear parametric domain for trivariate B-splines and utilized the mapping to approximate the given object with B-splines in a coarse-to-fine manner. Specifically, our framework provides user-controllability of shape approximations, based on the control of the boundary condition of the harmonic parameterization and the level of B-spline fitting. Experimental results showed that our method is efficient enough to compute trivariate B-splines for several models, each of whose topology is identical to a solid sphere.
