In order to evaluate the oxidation stability, chemical compounds, and sensory for the garlic-salt laver, we prepared the garlic-salt laver added with different levels of salt and garlic power. The lipid per oxidation of garlic-salt laver was monitored by measuring the formation of 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). In addition, the general chemical compounds of laver with garlic-salt were determined by moisture, crude lipid ash, and protein. The major tocopherol compounds of laver with garlic-salt were measured using HPLC system. The contents of ${\alpha}$-tocopherol decreased with time, in contrast to ${\gamma}$-tocopherol which increased with time. The lipid profiles of laver with garlic-salt were high in linoleic acid although they did not change with time. Formation of TBARS of laver increased in control but did not increase in laver with garlic-salt. After 12 weeks, laver with 33% garlic-salt showed strong inhibition effect on TBARS formation. The sensory evaluation of laver with garlic-salt were tested. The results seem to indicate that laver with 33% garlic-salt can be used as a good ratio.

Effect of Rubus coreanum Miquel and Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten in combination with chicken breast and wheat gluten on functional properties and physicochemical characteristics during processing of cooked noodles were investigated. These studies were carried out to investigate functional properties of Rubus coreanum Miquel and Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten by the antioxidant ability. Antioxidant activities were evaluated by electron donating, xanthine oxidase inhibition rate and contents of total polyphenols. Overall, the antioxidant activities of hot water extracts were a little higher than those of ethanol extracts. Also, the antioxidant abilities at the concentration of 1,000 ppm in hot water extracts were higher than those of ethanol extracts by the determination of total polyphenol content and DPPH, which showed 150.25 mg% in extracts of Rubus coreanum Miquel and showed 69.36% in extracts of Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten. The effects on processing characteristics of cooked noodles were investigated in combination with transglutaminase (TGase), plant extracts, wheat gluten and chicken breast. Cooking time was very short as 340 second in CB (cooked breast), compared to other treatments. In contrast, NCB (non cooked breast) took a longer time as 779 second. Also, CB was higher than NCB, which showed 146.3% in CB and 61.5% in NCB in water absorption ratio during cooking of noodles. Tubidity of soup was the lowest at 0.240 in NCBT (non cooked breast transglutaminase), which means the lowest loss of solid in noodle during cooking. In case of treatment of TGase, overall texture properties were higher than other samples in hardness, cohesivness, springness and gumminess. In sensory evaluations, cooked noodles treated with TGase showed a higher percentage of overall acceptability than other treatments.

In this paper, we propose the digital image enhancement method including local tone reproduction and preservation of the hue. In recent studies, an integrated multi-scale retinex (IMSR) has produced great naturalness in the resulting images through enhancement of visibility in dark area in input images. However, most methods, including IMSR, work in RGB color spaces. As such, this produces hue distortion from the perspective of the human visual system, that is, hue distortion in CIELAB color space. Accordingly, this paper proposes an tone reproduction and enhancement of saturation method in a device-independent color space, CIELAB, to preserve the hue and obtain a high contrast and naturalness. First, to achieve the desired objectives, the IMSR is then applied to only the $L^*$ values in CIELAB color space, normalization, and simple mapping function, thereby preserving the balance of the color components and enhancement of visibility. Then, saturation adjustment is performed by applying the ratio of the chroma variation at the sRGB gamut boundary according to the corrected luminance. In experiments, the proposed method is shown to improve the visibility in dark shadows and bright regions in the resulting images and reduce any color distortion then preference test are performed.
Background: Nuclear facilities in South Korea have generally adopted pressurized ion chambers to measure ambient gamma ray exposure rates for monitoring the impact of radiation on the surrounding environment. The rates assessed with pressurized ion chambers do not distinguish between natural and man-made radiation, so a further step is needed to identify the cause of abnormal variation. In contrast, using NaI(Tl) scintillation detectors to detect gamma energy rates can allow an immediate assessment of the cause of variation through an analysis of the energy spectra. Against this backdrop, this study was conducted to propose a more effective way to monitor ambient gamma exposure rates. Materials and Methods: The following methods were used to analyze gamma energy spectra measured from January to November 2016 with NaI detectors installed at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) dormitory and Hanbat University. 1) Correlations of the variation of rates measured at the two locations were determined. 2) The dates, intervals, duration, and weather conditions were identified when rates increased by $5nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ or more. 3) Differences in the NaI spectra on normal days and days where rates spiked by $5nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ or more were studied. 4) An algorithm was derived for automatically calculating the net variation of the rates. Results and Discussion: The rates measured at KAERI and Hanbat University, located 12 kilometers apart, did not show a strong correlation (coefficient of determination = 0.577). Time gaps between spikes in the rates and rainfall were factors that affected the correlation. The weather conditions on days where rates went up by $5nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ or more featured rainfall, snowfall, or overcast, as well as an increase in peaks of the gamma rays emitted from the radon decay products of $^{214}Pb$ and $^{214}Bi$ in the spectrum. This study assumed that $^{214}Pb$ and $^{214}Bi$ exist at a radioactive equilibrium, since both have relatively short half-lives of under 30 minutes. Provided that this assumption is true and that the gamma peaks of the 352 keV and 1,764 keV gamma rays emitted from the radionuclides have proportional count rates, no man-made radiation should be present between the two energy levels. This study proved that this assumption was true by demonstrating a linear correlation between the count rates of these two gamma peaks. In conclusion, if the count rates of these two peaks detected in the gamma energy spectrum at a certain time maintain the ratio measured at a normal time, such variation can be confirmed to be caused by natural radiation. Conclusion: This study confirmed that both $^{214}Pb$ and $^{214}Bi$ have relatively short half-lives of under 30 minutes, thereby existing in a radioactive equilibrium in the atmosphere. If the gamma peaks of the 352 keV and 1,764 keV gamma rays emitted from these radionuclides have proportional count rates, no man-made radiation should exist between the two energy levels.
The purpose of this study is to explore whether the phenomenon of both married and unmarried adults' cohabiting with their parents in Korean society is "unilaterally parasitic" on the child's side, or is "interdependent", characterized by expectation and dependence from the parent's side. As a result of this study possessing the characteristics of theoretic research, the following propensities of parent-dependent adults have been discussed. First of all, it was discovered that the ratio of adult children dependent on and cohabiting with their parents is considerable. Second, parents cohabiting with their adult children have unfavorable sociological features, such as high age, low level of education and income, and lower standards of education and income, compared to parents in normal households. Third, it was found that parent-dependent adults in Korean society maintain a relatively high rate of financial activity and stable employment-based occupation status. Fourth, it was shown that the level of satisfaction on the relationship between parent-dependent adults and their parents was discovered to be high, which is contrastive to the prediction of negative results based on some previous researches. Single adult children's age, their level of education and financial activity status, and their parents' age and level of education were deducted as variables related to the level of satisfaction of the relationship between parents and their children. It seems that the issue of married and unmarried adults' cohabiting with their parents in Korean society should be approached from various perspectives such as political, economic, socio-cultural and developmental aspects. On the basis of this fundamental awareness and several of the materials, it is pertinent that approaches to both married and unmarried adults' cohabiting with parents in Korean society should be distinguished from approaches to those in Japanese or Western society because it reflects the uniqueness of Korean society. In the phenomenon of married and unmarried adults' cohabiting with their parents in Korean society, there are several factors besides the economic factor, especially the socio-cultural factor that have the characteristics of mutual dependence between parents and their children rather than those of unilateral parasitism, in contrast with the phenomenon in Japanese or Western society. This research was aimed to contribute by establishing basic data for policy making by providing necessary information to treat the issues of instability and anxiety related to families and reflection on the matters of generations and parent-child relationships in current Korean society.
We previously reported that cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitory peptides (designated $P_{28}$ and $P_{10})$ have anti-atherogenic effects in hypercholesterolemic rabbits (Biochim. Biophys. Acta (1998) 1391, 133-144). To further investigate those effects, we studied rabbit plasma that was collected after 30 h of a $P_{28}$ or $P_{10}$ injection. We found that there is a strong correlation between the in vivo CETP inhibition effects and alterations of lipoprotein particle size distribution in rabbit plasma, as determined on an agarose gel electrophoresis and gel filtration column chromatography. In vivo effects of the peptide were observed again in C57BL/6 mice that expressed simian CETP. The $P_{28}$ or $P_{10}$ peptide ($7\;{\mu}g/g$ of body weight) that was dissolved in saline was injected subcutaneously into the mice. The $P_{28}$ injection caused the partial inhibition of plasma CETP activity up to 50%, decreasing the total plasma cholesterol concentration by 30%, and increasing the ratio of HD/total-cholesterol concentration by 150% in the CETP-transgenic (tg) mice. The CETP inhibition by the $P_{28}$ or $P_{10}$ made alterations that modulated the size re-distribution of the lipoproteins in the blood stream. Particle size of the very low (VLDL) and low density lipoproteins (LDL) from the peptide-injected group was highly decreased compared to the saline-injected group (determined on the gel filtration column chromatography). In contrast, The HDL particle size of the $P_{28}$-injected group increased compared to the control group (saline-injected). The expression level of the CETP mRNA of the $P_{28}$-injected CETP-tg mouse appeared lower than the saline-injected CETP-tg mouse. These results suggest that the injection of the CETP inhibitory peptide could affect the CETP expression level in the liver by influencing lipoprotein metabolism.

A heat insulating material used in the industrial site normally derives its heat insulating performance by using a low thermal conductivity material such as glass fiber. In case of the metal insulation for nuclear power plant, in contrast, only TP 304 stainless steel foil having high thermal conductivity is the only acceptable material. So, it is required to approach in structural aspect to ensure the insulation performance. In this study, the design factors related to the metal insulation internal structure were determined considering the three modes of heat transfer, i.e., conduction, convection, and radiation. The analysis of heat flow was used to understand the ratio of the heat transfer from each factor to the overall heat transfer from all the factors. Based on this study, in order to minimize the convection phenomenon caused by the internal insulation, a multiple foil was inserted in the insulation. The increase in the conduction heat transfer rate was compared, and the insulation performance under the three modes of heat transfer was analyzed in order to determine the internal geometry.
The success of porcelain laminate veneer depends on the bond strength between tooth structure and ceramic restoration and the design of tooth preparation. In particular, incisal coverage and incisal finish line are the two most important factors in long-term fracture resistance. Although the majority of clinicians are practicing incisal coverage and there are various opinions on the geo-metrical ratio between the clinical crown length of the remaining tooth structure and the length of incisal extension in porcelain laminate veneer and the optimal incisal finish lines. scientific evidence still loaves much to be desired. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the amounts of incisal coverage and the types of incisal finish line on the stress distribution in maxillary anterior porcelain laminate veneers under two different loading conditions. Three-dimensional finite element models of a maxillary anterior porcelain veneer with differ-ent amounts of incisal coverage ; 0, 1, 2, and 3mm and different incisal finish lines feathered edge, incisal bevel, reverse bevel and lingual chamfer with various amounts of lingual extension were developed. 300N force was applied at the point 0.5mm cervical of the linguoincisal edge in two loading conditions ; A) 125 degrees, B) 132 degrees. Tensile and compressive stress in ceramic and shear stress in the resin cement layer were analyzed using three-dimensional finite element method. The results were as follows : 1. The types of incisal finish line had more influence on the stress distribution in porcelain laminate veneer than the amounts of incisal coverage. 2. In case of no incisal coverage, incisal beveled laminate exhibited more evenly distributed tensile stress than feathered edged laminate. And in case of incisal coverage, reverse beveled laminate and lingual chamfered laminate with 1mm lingual extension exhibited more evenly distributed tensile stress than lingual chamfered laminates with 2mm and 3mm lingual extension. 3. As long as the lingual chamfer goes, less tensile stress was found at the incisal edge, while much more tensile stress was found at the lingual margin area in proportion to the length of lingual extension. 4. Under 125 degree load, tensile stress in porcelain laminate veneer had increased compared with that under 132 degree load and the difference exhibited by the change of the amount of tooth support was larger. 5. The types of incisal finish line and the distance from the incisal finish line to the loading point had more influence on the shear stress distribution in the resin cement layer than the amounts of incisal coverage. In contrast loading condition had little influence.
This study observed particulate matter ($PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_{10}$) in the downtown area of Jeju City, South Korea, to understand the chemical composition of particulates based on an analysis of the water-soluble ionic species contained in the particles. The mass fraction of the ionic species in the sampled $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ was 44.3% and 42.2%, respectively. In contrast, in Daegu City and Suwon City, the mass fraction of the ionic species in $PM_{2.5}$ was higher than that in $PM_{10}$. The chloride depletion percentage of $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ in Jeju City was higher than 61% and 66%, respectively. The contribution of sea-salt to the mass of $PM_{10}$ (5.9%) and $PM_{2.5}$ (2.6%) in Jeju City was similar to that in several coastal regions of South Korea. The mass ratio of $Cl^-$ to $Na^+$ in the downtown area of Jeju City was comparable to that in some coastal regions, such as the Gosan Area of Jeju Island, Deokjeok Island, and Taean City. The mass fraction of sea-salt in $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ was very low, and the concentration of sodium and chloride ions in $PM_{10}$ was not correlated with those in $PM_{2.5}$ ($R^2$ < 0.2), suggesting that the effects of sea-salt on the formation of particulate matter in Jeju City might be insignificant. The relationship between $NH_4{^+}$ and several anions such as $SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NO_3{^-}$, and $Cl^-$, as well as the relationship between the measurement and calculation of ammonium ion concentration, suggested that sea-salts may not react with $H_2SO_4$, and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ may be a major secondary inorganic aerosol component of $PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_{10}$ in Jeju City.

This paper presents the implementation and design of the advanced WI-FI systems with beam-forming antenna that radiate their power to the direction of user equipment to improve the overall throughput, contrast to the general WI-FI systems equipped with omni-antenna. The system consists of patch array antenna, DSP, FPGA, and Qualcomm's commercial chip. The beam-forming system on the FPGA utilizes the packet information from Qualcomm's commercial chip to control the phase shifters and attenuators of the patch array antenna. The PCI express interface has been used to maximize the communication speed between DSP and FPGA. The directions of arrival of users are managed using the database, and each user is distinguished by the MAC address given from the packet information. When the system wants to transmit a packet to one user, it forms beams to the direction of arrival of the corresponding user stored in the database to maximize the throughput. Directions of arrival of users are estimated using the received preamble in the packet to make its SINR as high as possible. The proposed beam-forming system was implemented using an FPGA and Qualcommm's commercial chip together. The implemented system showed considerable throughput improvement over the existing general AP system with omni-directional antenna in the multi-user communication environment.
