Attitudes toward Caring for the Elderly and Geriatric Nursing Practice of Nurses in a General Hospital (일 병원 간호사의 노인돌봄태도와 노인간호실천)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among attitude toward caring for the elderly and geriatric nursing practice and the influencing factors on geriatric nursing practice of nurses in a general hospital. Data were collected from October 1 to October 30, 2017 by questionnaires from 228 nurses who work at a general hospital in B city. The data were analyzed by IBM SPSS statistics 20.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression. The average score of attitude toward caring the elderly was 3.39 and geriatric nursing practice was 3.21. Significant correlation were found among attitude toward caring the elderly and geriatric nursing practice. According to the research, the significant factors influencing geriatric nursing practice were attitude toward caring the elderly, total clinical careers, elderly education experience influences the attitude toward the elderly, the present working department, have a friendly elderly person, and these factors explained 30.4%. Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop and apply a program to improve positive attitude of care for the elderly to hospital nurses and a program to promote the geriatric nursing practice.

Study on Influencing Factors on Attitude toward Marriage of Undergraduate with Institutional Background (대학에 진학한 시설보호 청년의 결혼 태도 영향 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to find influencing factors on attitude toward marriage of undergraduate with institutional care background. Intimate romantic relationship is one of developmental tasks of emerging adulthood. And attitude towards marriage is connected with intimate, romantic relationship. This study has focus on attitude towards marriage out of marriage issues. The method of this study is the survey on 214 undergraduates who have lived in institution for children over two years. The results of the findings are as follows. First, they are favorably inclined towards marriage. Second, gender, financial conditions, ego-identity exercise a significant effect on attitude towards marriage. Subcategory of ego-identity that affects attitude towards marriage the most is self-receptiveness. Implication and limitation of this study are discussed finally.

Association between Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice Regarding Blood Donation in University Students (대학생의 헌혈에 대한 지식, 인식수준에 따른 헌혈행태)

  • The present study aims to investigate the association between knowledge, attitude, and practice of blood donating in an effort to increase the participation rate of blood donation among university students. Data was obtained among 272 in theirs 20s health sciences students in two university of South Korea through self-reported questionnaires including Knowledge, attitude, and behavioral practice regarding blood donation during 8st December 2014 to 12st December 2014. Pearson correlation test, student's t-test or descriptive statistics were performed for the data analysis. The results were as follows: 1) There was positive significant relationship between Attitude and behavioral practice towards blood donation(P <.05). 2) There was significant difference in the knowledge(P<.01) and attitude(P<.05) regarding blood donation according to public health vs non-public health. 3) The participants with previous blood donation experiences showed a higher participation rate than those without such an experience(P<.01). It is important not only to improve the university student's attitude towards blood donation through media advertising but also to reinforce the compensation offered to donors.

  • This study is focused on the relationship between children's attitude and their behavior and intention of behavior to increase their positive behavior towards elders so that can be solutions to reduce social isolation of elders. This study explains relationships between ways children recognize seniors, their attitudes and their intention of behavior; how they affect one another. Figuring it out would help to learn ways how to resolve psychological problems which elders suffer. Regression analysis were also done to figure out whether chosen factors are appropriate and to verify the hypotheses or assumptions. To learn differences between two groups t-test was applied. This proved that children's perceived value on elders who they experienced directly or indirectly has positive effect on their emotional attitude, and this emotional attitude affects their cognitive behavior positively which affects their behaving attitude in a positive way. Lastly, behaving attitude has positive effect on children's intention of behavior.

Examination of Factors Influencing the Attitude toward SNS-based Advertising and the Roles of Involvement: Focusing on Facebook News Feed Advertising (SNS 광고 태도에 영향을 주는 요인들과 관여도의 역할에 대한 고찰: 페이스북 뉴스피드 광고를 중심으로)

  • This major purpose of this study is to examine factors influencing the attitude toward News Feed advertising in Facebook. For this purpose, this study posited seven determinants including informativeness, entertainment, irritation, trust, individualization, incentive and privacy concern, which can have influences on the attitude toward News Feed Advertising. and this research tests the relationships between these seven determinants and the attitude toward News Feed Advertising. An online survey was administrated to collect data and hierarchical regression analyses were employed for data analysis. The results showed that infortainment as a new combined factor of informativeness and entertainment, trust, individualization have significantly positive influences on the attitude toward News Feed advertising in Facebook. It was also shown that the moderating effect of involvement on the relationship between irritation and the attitude. The results in this study implied that it is needed to reinforce the attributes of advertising including infortainment, trust and individualization to boost the effects of News Feed advertising in Facebook on consumers.

Influence of Interpersonal Stress and Attitude toward Help on Happiness in Elementary School Students (초등학생의 대인관계 스트레스와 도움추구태도가 행복에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of elementary school students' interpersonal stress and attitudes toward help on happiness. The subjects were 171 elementary school students. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, there was a significant negative correlation between interpersonal stress and happiness. Attitudes toward help had a significant positive correlation with happiness. Second, parents and peer relationship stress had significant negative influence on happiness. Third, help seeking attitude toward parents and teacher among the sub-factors of help seeking attitude had a significant positive influence on happiness. Fourth, the relationship between parental stress and happiness showed a significant mediating effect on parents and teacher attitude toward help. The relationship between teacher stress and happiness showed a significant mediating effect on teacher attitude toward help. The relationship between peer relationship stress and happiness had no mediating effect of attitude toward help. Based on these results, we discussed the importance of attitude toward help in the relationship between stress and elementary school students' happiness.

The Influence of Good Death Awareness and Knowledge of Advance Directives on Attitude toward Advance Directives in Middle-Aged Adults (중년기 성인의 좋은 죽음 인식, 사전의료의향서 지식이 사전의사결정 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined effects of good death awareness and knowledge of advance directives on attitude toward advance directives in middle-aged adults. The participants were 152 middle-aged adults in G province and C province. Data were collected from October 4 to November 15, 2019 through self reported structured questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression. Good death awareness correlated positively with knowledge of advance directives and attitude toward advance directives. Knowledge of advance directives was positively correlated with attitude toward advance directives. Participants' economic status, knowledge of advance directives and good death awareness explained 28.3% of variance in attitude toward advance directives among middle-aged adults. The findings indicate that middle-aged adults' economic status, knowledge of advance directives and good death awareness are important factors to be considered for the formation of desirable attitude toward advance directives.

The Relationships between Father's Maternal Attitude and Peer Competence: Mediating Effect of Infant's Self-efficacy (아버지의 양육태도와 또래유능성 간의 관계: 유아 자기효능감의 매개효과)

  • In this study, the relationships between father's maternal attitude and infant's self-efficacy and peer ability was verified, and in this process, the mediated effect of infant's self-efficacy was verified. The subjects of this study were 256 fathers of infants who were enrolled in a kindergarten located in Seoul, and the data was acquired by questionnaire survey. Verification of research questions was carried out through structural equation model analysis. As a result of the verification, the father's affectional attitude and autonomic attitude showed a significant positive effect on the infant's self-efficacy, and the affectional attitude showed a significant positive effect on the infant's peer competence. And it was shown that the infant's self-efficacy has a significant positive effect on their peer competence. On the other hand, the father's maternal was shown to have a positive effect on the infant's peer competence through the mediating of the infant's self-efficacy. The results of this study will be meaningful in that they have derived factors of the father's maternal attitude toward improving peer competence as well as the self-efficacy in terms of infant development.

The Influence of Dark Tourism Visitors' Motivation, Authenticity, Emotion, Satisfaction and Attitude Change: Focus on Seodaemun Prison History Hall (다크투어리즘 방문동기가 진정성, 감정, 만족 및 태도변화에 미치는 영향: 서대문형무소역사관을 중심으로)

  • The purposes of the study were two-folded: to identify visitors' motivations for the history-based dark tourism and to test empirically the relationships among visitors' motivations, authenticity, emotion, satisfaction and attitude change. The online survey was conducted, from August 3rd to 20th of 2020, on visitors over 15 years old with previous experience with dark tourism within last three years. 347 individuals responded to the online survey. The study results were as follows: first, among four dark tourism visiting motivation including, motivation to research, historicalness, deviation, and self-examination, first two variables motivation to research and historicalness showed positive effect on authenticity and emotion. Second, the study found that visitors' satisfaction influenced positively towards attitude change. Finally, authenticity and emotion positively influenced attitude change. This study empirically suggests a change in attitude toward history due to the dark tour. Since historicality has been shown to have a significant influence on the attitude of history through authenticity and emotion, it is necessary to strengthen story-based experience programs at historical sites.

The Influence of Dementia Knowledge, Ageism and Humanism on Attitude toward the Elderly with Dementia in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 치매지식, 연령주의, 휴머니즘이 치매노인에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined effects of dementia knowledge, ageism and humanism on attitude toward the elderly with dementia in nursing students. The participants were 226 nursing student in S city and C province. Data were collected from September 7 to December 12, 2020 through self reported structured questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression. Dementia knowledge correlated negatively with ageism and ageism correlated negatively attitude toward the elderly with dementia. Dementia knowledge and humanism were positively correlated with attitude toward the elderly with dementia. Participants' ageism, humanism, experience of dementia education, experience of cohabitation with dementia elderly and experience of volunteer for dementia elderly explained 26.5% of variance in attitude toward the elderly with dementia among nursing students. The findings indicate that nursing students' ageism, humanism, dementia education and volunteer programs for the elderly with dementia are important factors to be considered for the formation of desirable attitude toward the elderly with dementia.
