Frequency effect of TEOS oxide layer in dual-frequency capacitively coupled CH2F2/C4F8/O2/Ar plasma

  • Recently, the increasing degree of device integration in the fabrication of Si semiconductor devices, etching processes of nano-scale materials and high aspect-ratio (HAR) structures become more important. Due to this reason, etch selectivity control during etching of HAR contact holes and trenches is very important. In this study, The etch selectivity and etch rate of TEOS oxide layer using ACL (amorphous carbon layer) mask are investigated various process parameters in CH2F2/C4F8/O2/Ar plasma during etching TEOS oxide layer using ArF/BARC/SiOx/ACL multilevel resist (MLR) structures. The deformation and etch characteristics of TEOS oxide layer using ACL hard mask was investigated in a dual-frequency superimposed capacitively coupled plasma (DFS-CCP) etcher by different fHF/ fLF combinations by varying the CH2F2/ C4F8 gas flow ratio plasmas. The etch characteristics were measured by on scanning electron microscopy (SEM) And X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). A process window for very high selective etching of TEOS oxide using ACL mask could be determined by controlling the process parameters and in turn degree of polymerization. Mechanisms for high etch selectivity will discussed in detail.

Immune Protection Factor of Sunscreens in Humans is Dependent on Protection from UVA and Cannot be Predicted from the Sun Protection Factor

  • Sunscreens have been advocated as an important means of preventing skin cancer. UV-induced immunosuppression is important for skin cancer development, yet the effectiveness of sunscreens in protecting the human immune system from UV radiation is unclear. The only currently accepted method of sunscreen rating is the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) based on prevention of erythema. We developed an in vivo non-invasive method for evaluating protection of the human immune system from UV radiation based on recall contact sensitivity to nickel, a common allergen. Using this system we showed that broad-spectrum sunscreens provide greater protection to the immune system than sunscreens which protect from UVB only. UVA was found to be immunosuppressive. We developed this technique to enable the study of solar simulated UV radiation dose responses and determined Immune Protection Factors (IPFs) for six commercially available sunscreens based on limits of protection from the dose response data. We found that the IPF did not correlate with the SPF and that protection from erythema therefore cannot be used to predict protection of the immune system. However, IPF was significantly correlated to the UVA protective capability of the sunscreens, indicating that sunscreen protection from UVA is important for prevention of immunosuppression. We recommend that sunscreens should be rated against their immune protective capability to provide a better indication of their ability to protect against skin cancer.

저밀도 폴리에틸렌의 표면개질과 이를 이용한 저밀도 폴리에틸렌/알루미늄 라미네이트의 접착특성 (Surface Modification of Low Density Polyethylene and Adhesion Characteristics of Low Density Polyethylene/Aluminum Laminate)

  • UV조사 하에서 아크릴산의 그라프팅을 이용한 LDPE의 표면개질을 XPS와 접촉각을 이용하여 살펴보았으며, 이에 따른 알루미늄/LDPE 라미네이트의 접착력 변화를 살펴보았다. 접촉각은 UV조사시간이 증가함에 따라 초기에 급격히 감소하다가 점차 일정한 값을 나타내었다. 이는 초기에는 LDPE 표면에 그라프트된 아크릴산에 의해 친수성이 급격히 증가하다가 표면의 아크릴산 농도가 증가함에 따라 친수성의 변화가 상대적으로 감소하기 때문으로 생각된다. 이러한 결과는 XPS를 이용한 O1s/C1s 비의 증가로도 확인할 수 있었다. 아크릴산이 그라프트된 LDPE와 알루미늄의 접착력은 순수한 LDPE를 이용하였을 때에 비하여 약 30배치 증가를 나타내었으며 이는 아크릴간의 그라프트에 의해 LDPF의 표면 극성기가 증가하였기 때문이다. 황산/isodium dichromate를 이용하여 알루미늄 표면을 처리한 경우 보다 뛰어난 접착력을 나타내었다. 아세트산의 존재하에서 LDPE/알루미늄 라미네이트의 계면접착력은 급격히 감소함을 알 수 있었다.

  • We present an integrated optical microswitch, composed of silicon waveguides, gold-coaled silicon micromirrors, and electrostatic contact actuators, for applications to the optical signal transceivers. For a low switching voltage, we modify the conventional curled electrode microactuator into a electrostatic microactuator with touch-down beams. We fabricate the silicon waveguides and the electrostatically actuated micromirrors using the ICP etching process of SOI wafers. We observe the single mode wave propagation through the silicon waveguide with the measured micromirror loss of $4.18\pm0.25dB$. We analyze major source of the micromirror loss, thereby presenting guidelines for low-loss micromirror designs. From the fabricated microswitch, we measure the switching voltage of 31.74V at the resonant frequency of 6.89kHz. Compared to the conventional microactuator, the present contact microactuator achieves 77.4% reduction of the switching voltage. We also discuss a feasible method to reduce the switching voltage to 10V level by using the electrode insulation layers having the residual stress less than 30MPa.

  • Bocillus subtilis를 유전공학의 숙주 세포로서 이용하기 위해서는 우선 적당한 vector의 개발이 요구된다. Oxytetracycline의 항생물질을 생산하는 방사선균인 Streptomyces rimosuf IFO 0014로 부터 oxytetracycline-resistant plasmid DNA를 pH 9.0의 phenol-buffer system으로 추출하여 B.subtilis KPM 60[St $r^{R}$-mutant of RM 125 (leu A8, arg 15, hsr $M^{-}$, hsm $M^{-}$)] 1균주에 형질전환시키면서 이 plasmid DNA가 표현되게 하였다. 이때 형질전환의 조건으로서 KPM60을 growth medium에서 3시간, competence medium에서는 30분내지 60분간 그리고 DNA와는 20분동안 접촉시킴으로서 가장 높은 빈도로 형질전환이 일어났다. (대개 $10^{-4}$ 빈도 이상) 또 recipient cell의 competence화에는 oH7.5에서 그리고 형질전환에는 2$0^{\circ}C$에서 최적상태를 보였다.

BQ-788 (ENDOTHELIN-B RECEPTOR ANTAGONIST) BLOCKS KERATINOCYTE-INDUCED DENDRICITY 01 CULTURED IHELANOCYTES

  • Facial hyperpigmentation in women, which is considered to be a serious cosmetic disability and a cause of mental distress, requires proper management. Melanocyte dendricity is a crucial factor affecting epidermal pigmentation. We found that BQ-788, the endothelin-B (ETB) receptor antagonist, blocks the formation of multi-dendricity which is induced by cocultured keratinocytes. Melanocytes in vivo show numerous dendrites which are in close contact with multiple keratinocytes, forming the epidermal-melanin unit. While melanocytes transfer their melanosomes into the neighboring keratinocytes via dendrites, keratinocytes secrete many growth factors and cytokines that influence viability, morphology, and melanin formation of melanocytes. Endothelin-1 (ET-1), prostaglandin E2(PGE2), and leukotriene-C4 (LT-C4) have been suggested as the candidates for increasing dendricity. Other reports suggested that ET-1 has stimulatory effects on proliferation and melanin formation of melanocytes in vitro. In the present study, using type-specific ET receptor antagonists, we observed how the morphology of melanocytes could be modulated in a coculture system. In addition, the roles of ET-1 for morphology and proliferation on melanocytes were evaluated in different culture media. We suggest that ET-1 increases dendricity and proliferation of melanocytes, and that its dendrite-inducing effect and mitogenic effect are regulated independently.

Crystal Structure of GRIP1 PDZ6-peptide complex reveals the structural basis for class II PDZ target recognition and PDZ domain-mediated multimerization

  • PDZ domains bind to short segments within target proteins in a sequence-specific fashion. GRIP/ABP family proteins contain six to seven PDZ domains and interact via its sixth PDZ domain (class Ⅱ) with the C-termini of various proteins, including liprin-α. In addition the PDZ456 domain mediates the formation of homo- and heteromultimers of GRIP proteins. To better understand the structural basis of peptide recognition by a class Ⅱ PDZ domain and DZ-mediated multimerization, we determined the crystal structures of the GRIPI PDZ6 domain, alone and in complex with a synthetic C-terminal octapeptide of human liprin-α, at resolutions of 1.5 Å and 1.8 Å, respectively. Remarkably, unlike other class Ⅱ PDZ domains, Ile736 at αB5 rather than conserved Leu732 at αB1 makes a direct hydrophobic contact with the side chain of the Tyr at the -2 position of the ligand. Moreover, the peptide-bound structure of PDZ6 shows a slight reorientation of helix αB, indicating that the second hydrophobic pocket undergoes a conformational adaptation to accommodate the bulkiness of the Tyr's side chain, and forms an antiparallel dimer through an interface located at a site distal to the peptide-binding groove. This configuration may enable formation of GRIP multimers and efficient clustering of GRIP-binding proteins.

이미지 분석법을 이용한 소프트 콘택트렌즈용 다목적용액의 각막상피세포 독성 평가 (Cytotoxicity of Multipurpose Contact Lens Solutions on the Cultured Corneal Epithelial Cells Evaluated by Image Analysis)

  • 목적: 시판되고 있는 소프트콘택트렌즈용 다목적용액이 사람의 각막상피세포에 미치는 세포독성을 이미지 분석법을 이용하여 평가하고자 하였다. 방법: 각막상피세포를 6종류의 다목적용액(A~F)이 0.05~50% 포함된 배양액에서 각각 2시간, 12시간, 24시간, 48시간 동안 배양하였다. 배양 후 각막상피세포를 고정한 다음 Draq 5로 염색하고 공초점현미경과 ImageXpress $Ultra^{TM}$를 이용하여 세포형태를 관찰하고 세포생존율과 세포자살(apoptosis)을 비교하였다. 결과: 각막상피세포 생존율과 세포자살은 다목적용액을 2시간 처리한 경우에는 모든 제품에서 대조군과 차이가 없었으나, 12시간 이상 처리한 경우에는 B~F 제품에서 대조군의 52~75% 수준으로 감소하였고, 세포자살은 모든 제품에서 차이가 없었다. 24~48시간 처리한 경우에는 생존율이 29~73% 수준으로 감소하였고(p<0.05), 세포자살은 199~526% 증가하였다. 제품별로는 다목적용액 D, E, F가 A보다 각막상피세포 생존율을 감소시켰고 세포자살을 증가시켰다(p<0.05). 결론: 저농도의 다목적용액은 각막상피세포 독성에 영향을 미치지 않지만 고농도의 다목적용액은 각막상피세포의 자살을 유도하고 세포생존율을 저하시킬 수 있으므로 다목적용액의 성분은 소독기능이 우수하고 독성이 없는 성분으로 개발되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

보중익기탕(補中益氣湯)이 접촉성 과민반응에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Bojungikgi-tang on Trimellitic Anhydride-induced Contact Hypersensitivity in BALB/c Mice)

  • Objective : The water extract of Bojungikgi-tang (BTE) composed with Ginseng Radix, Astragali Radix, Angelicae gigantis Radix, Atractylodes Rhizoma alba, Aurantii nobilis Pericarpium, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Cimicifuga Rhizoma, and Bupleuri Radix and it has been traditionally used for chronic diseases or weakness after illness in oriental countries. However, little is known about the effects of aqueous extract of BTE on trimellitic anhydride (TMA)-induced contact hypersensitivity (CHS). Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of BTE on TMA-induced CHS in BALB/c mice.Methods : In this study, the extract of BTE was prepared by extracting with distilled water at 100℃ for 2.5 h. The extract was freeze-dried following filtration through 0.45 μm filter. Mice were orally administrated with or without BTE extract of different doses (25-200 ㎎/㎏/day) for 28 days. During the challenge period, mice were externally applied with different doses of BTE extract one time per day 30 min before TMA treatment. I examined the effects of BTE on the serum levels of IgE, IgG1, IgG2a, and IgG2b, nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production in isolated peritoneal macrophages, Th2 cytokine production in isolated spleen cells, ear swelling responses, and the leukocyte infiltration induced by TMA.Results : The orally and externally administration of BTE dose-dependently reduced the serum levels of hapten-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE), IgG1 titer, and PGE2 production as well as ear swelling responses and leukocyte infiltration in TMA-induced BALB/c mice. The levels of NO and PGE2 production from peritoneal macrophages stimulated with TMA-BSA were markedly suppressed by pretreatment with BTE in a concentration dependent manner. Furthermore, the levels of Th2 cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13) production from spleen cells stimulated with ConA were markedly suppressed by BTE treatment in a concentration dependent manner.Conclusions : These results suggest that BTE treatment suppresses chronic contact hypersensitivity, and it can be assumed that the suppression of ear swelling, serum IgE, NO and PGE2 levels, leukocyte infiltration, and Th2 cytokines in an animal model. Therefore, these properties may contribute to the strong anti-CHS response effect of BTE.

동해-1 가스전 B2 저류층의 생산성 분석에 관한 Field Case Study (Field Case Study for the Productivity Analysis of B2 Reservoir, Donghae-1 Gas Field)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내대륙붕 제 6-1광구 고래 V 구조 (동해-1 가스전)의 B2 저류층에 대한 생산성 분석을 수행하기 위해 상평형 모델과 물질평형식 및 유임유동식에 근거한 사용자 친화적 생산거동분석 모델을 개발하였다. 이 모델에서는 저류층 주변에 대수층이 존재하는 경우에 대해서도 분석이 가능하도록 설계하였다. 또한 콘덴세이트가 생산성에 미치는 효과를 분석하기 위해 저류층에서 생성된 콘덴세이트를 겉보기스킨의 효과로 고려함으로써 저류층 평균압력에 대한 정저압력을 산출하는데 있어서 콘덴세이트에 의한 효과를 묘사하고자 하였다. 상기 모델을 활용하여 다양한 생산시스템에 대해 분석한 결과, B2층을 연간 5500 MMSCF 생산하는 비폐쇄시스템 즉 저류층이 10배 유한대수층과 270$^{\circ}C$ 유입각도로 접해있 다고 가정할 때, B2 저류층은 생산 개시 후 8년 6개월이 결과한 시점에서도 계산된 정저압력이 운영 정저압력 1298 psia보다 높게 산출되어 최대 생산을 유지할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 콘덴세이트는 생산 개시 1100일이 경과한 시점에서부터 생성되기 시작하여 1270일이 지나면 저류층 전체에 콘덴세이트가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. B2층은 생산이 종료되는 시점까지 많은 양의 물이 유입되는 관계로 저류층의 압력이 충분히 유지되고 콘덴세이트의 생성량이 적어 이에 따라 스킨인자의 증가도 크지 않게 산출되었다.
