A 1.248 Gb/s - 2.918 Gb/s Low-Power Receiver for MIPI-DigRF M-PHY with a Fast Settling Fully Digital Frequency Detection Loop in 0.11 ㎛ CMOS

  • This paper presents a 1.248 Gb/s - 2.918 Gb/s low-power receiver MIPI-DigRF M-PHY with a fully digital frequency detection loop. MIPI-DigRF M-PHY should be operated in a very short training time which is $0.01{\mu}s$ the for HS-G2B mode. Because of this short SYNC pattern, clock and data recovery (CDR) should have extremely fast locking time. Thus, the quarter rate CDR with a fully digital frequency detection loop is proposed to implement a fast phase tracking loop. Also, a low power CDR architecture, deserializer and voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) are proposed to meet the low power requirement of MIPI-DigRF M-PHY. This chip is fabricated using a $0.11{\mu}m$ CMOS process, and the die area is $600{\mu}m{\times}250{\mu}m$. The power consumption of the receiver is 16 mW from the supply voltage of 1.1 V. The measured lock time of the CDR is less than 20 ns. The measured rms and peak jitter are $35.24ps_{p-p}$ and $4.25ps_{rms}$ respectively for HS-G2 mode.

  • Recently, as the importance of Economical Driving has been gradually growing up, the needs for research on automatic analysis of driving patterns that will ultimately provide drivers the methods for Economical Driving have been increasingly risen. Based on this purpose, we have executed two things in this paper. First, we have collected overall driving information such as date, distance, driving time, speed, idle time, sudden acceleration/deceleration count, and the amount of fuel consumption. Second, we have analyzed the influences of driving patterns on economical driving by employing the data mining techniques. These results can be applied in preventing bad driving patterns which will have consequently bad effects on Economical Driving in two aspects: by presenting some information on the terminal of the vehicles such as idle time, over-speed time, sudden acceleration/deceleration count continuously and by providing the drivers with alert information when the idle time ratio and the over-speed time ratio are excessive.

  • In this paper, we have designed the transmitter for earth station terminal operating with military geostationary satellite on Ka-band that is complied with MIL-STD-188-164A. The designed antenna of this terminal is dual-offset gregorian reflector which is consist of corrugated horn and iris polarizer, othermode transducer. This antenna meets radiation pattern and transmit EIRP spectral density requirements in this standard. The designed RF systems of this terminal are consist of Block Up Converter(BUC) converting frequency band from IF to Ka band and SSPA having low-power consumption and compact light-weight using the pHEMT MMIC compound devices. This RF systems applied with VSWR, spurious/harmonic suppression, output flatness and phase noise requirement in this standard.

  • The purpose of this study is establishing how to build the area of local agents and regional offices in the oil company using GIS technique by reviewing on the spatial distribution pattern and characteristics of the sales area of oil products. Location-allocation and spatial interaction model are cooperated in order to establish sales area of petroleum products distribution system. Location-allocation model is used in the capital region where local agents are concentrated on like Kyoung-gi local agent. Spatial interaction model is used in the rest of the area in Korea to analyze the sales range of the regional offices in oil company. Each office made a big difference in registered cars and population because of the level of petroleum consumption in each sales area.

  • Energy saving starts by knowing how much energy is being consumed. A building factor is easier than any other things in energy saving. Since, especially, it is closely connected with user's space-use-patterns and manager's utility-operation-style. An energy metering system lets building users know about energy consumption pattern in buildings and measure energy in real time. Development and materialization of metering systems need more careful plans, so that they depend on a demand of individual facilities and available infrastructures they used to use. But, so far, there is no guidelines how to install metering systems. This paper suggested how to install meters and researched a method for how to analyze by using metered data. For that, Green Building in KIER is used as a test bed. As the results, nevertheless the smallest number of meters is basically one for the whole building energy measuring, it is too limited in analysis. So we needed to add the sort of fuel and utility types and found that it depends on all cases. For this reasons, a guideline should be created in order to install meters as soon as possible. It would be suggest a way to save more energy in building factor.

  • Multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) technique is used in many communication fields in order to increase the channel capacity. However, this MIMO system has difficulty of miniaturization of antenna size due to the multiple RF chains Also, multiple RF chain raises some problems which increase power consumption at RF circuit and degrade the system performance due to the interference between RF chains. Because of these reasons, beamspace MIMO (BS-MIMO) technique with only single RF chain was proposed for MIMO transmission. This BS-MIMO system basically uses electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna. Existing ESPAR antenna has a 5-element structure. So, it is possible to do only $3{\times}3$ MIMO transmission. Therefore, in order to extend BS-MIMO dimension, extension of ESPAR antenna structure is essential. In this paper, we show that BS-MIMO dimension can be increased according to the extension of structure of the ESPAR antenna, as in the conventional MIMO techniques. For example, we show that it is possible to design the $7{\times}7$ BS-MIMO transmissions with the 13-element ESPAR antenna. Also, when the number of parasitic elements of ESPAR antenna increases by two elements, MIMO dimension is expanded by 1.

Frequency Reuse and Sub-cell Coverage Determination Scheme for Improved Throughput in OFDMA-based Relay Systems (OFDMA 기반 Relay 시스템에서 Throughput 개선을 위한 자원 재사용과 커버리지 설정기법)

  • In this paper, we investigate throughput performance of OFDMA-based relay systems according to the "sub-cell coverage configuration" of the base station (RS) and the relay station (RS). RS is exploited for improved quality of the received signal with a tradeoff of additional radio resource consumption which may result in degradation of the throughput performance of the system. Therefore, "radio resource reuse" may be necessary for high performance in relay systems. However, it also causes system performance degradation since resource reuse between RSs incurs channel interference. Therefore, effective resource reuse also should be considered for "high throughput coverage configuration" when relays are employed. We relate the resource reuse patterns of neighboring RSs to sub-cell coverage configuration. We determine the sub-cell coverage of the system depending on the ratio of received signal-interference-noise-ratio (SINR) of the mobile station (MS) from the BS and RS, respectively. Simulations illustrate the throughput performance as the function of SINR ratio, and it has different optimal point depending on the resource reuse patterns. Therefore, the "resource reuse pattern" and the "effective sub-cell coverage configuration" should be considered together for the high throughput performance of the relay system.

  • A 3-GSymbol/s/lane transceiver, which supports the mobile industry processor interface (MIPI) C-physical layer (PHY) specification version 1.1, is proposed. It performs channel mismatch correction to improve the signal integrity that is deteriorated by using three-level signals over three channels. The proposed channel mismatch correction is performed by detecting channel mismatches in the receiver and adjusting the delay times of the transmission data in the transmitter according to the detection result. The channel mismatch detection in the receiver is performed by comparing the phases of the received signals with respect to the pre-determined data pattern transmitted from the transmitter. The proposed MIPI C-PHY receiver is designed using a 65 nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process with 1.2 V supply voltage. The area and power consumption of each transceiver lane are 0.136 ㎟ and 17.4 mW/GSymbol/s, respectively. The proposed channel mismatch correction reduces the time jitter of 88.6 ps caused by the channel mismatch to 34.9 ps.

Relationships among Social Support, Social Networks and Drinking Behavior by Gender Differences in Residents of an Apartment Complex in Seoul (성별에 따른 아파트 주민의 음주, 사회적 지지와 사회적 연결망과의 관계)

  • This study explores the gender differences in the relationship between social support, social networks and drinking behavior and illustrates gender differences in drinking behavior in order to provide evidence in planning a community health promotion program. Data was collected from 444 surveys (Male=190, Female=244) from a total of 1,899 adult residents in 738 households in the "Y" Apartment Complex in the Gangnam area of Seoul, Korea. Results show significantly higher rates of drinking frequency and alcohol consumption volume in males. Women with high-risk drinking behavior have fewer social relationships than women with normal drinking behavior. Within social networks, friends were significantly associated with drinking behavior and alchol abuse. Drinkers had more friends than non-drinkers in both genders. However, in association with alchol abuse, while male abusers had less friends than normal male drinkers, women abusers had more friends, indicating women who have drinking problems have a stronger social network. This pattern suggests gender differences in the association between social networks and alchol abuse. Therefore in approaching drinking issues, social support and social networks act as a key factor. For men, alcohol prevention programs should be aimed at achieving healthy drinking behavior at the aggregate level including people in his social support and social network groups. For women, the priority is alchol abuse. More attention is required in revealing the context between female social networks and alchol abuse and in developing coping strategies other than drinking.

Estimation of the Total Dietary Intake of Saccharin by Korean Population (한국인의 삭카린 섭취량 산정)

  • Out of 74 food samples including pickled radish, soy sauce, Lactobacillus drinks, frozen sweets and snack confections, 60 samples were found to contain saccharin. The contents of sacchrain in terms of maximum and positive mean were 541, 306 ppm in pickled radish, 302, 153 ppm in soy sauce, 66, 37 ppm in Lactobacillus drinks, 90, 51 ppm in frozen sweets and 606, 285 ppm in snack confections, respectively. Most food items did not exceed the tolerance limit of saccharin while 70% of snack confections exceeded the limit, the average concentration being 2.9 times of the limit. Total daily intake of saccharin by Korean population for the period of $1985{\sim}1990$ was estimated to be $7{\sim}17\;mg/person$ from consumption data and $9{\sim}35\;mg/person$ from supply data. The intake level was $11{\sim}22%$ of acceptable daily intake for man (ADI) recommended by FAO/WHO whereas the level was slightly higher than that in USA or Japan. It is. therefore, judged that saccharin at the current pattern of usage will not exhibit any adverse effect on the safety of Korean population.
