  • The most important thing to consider in cold store design are to save cooling energy consumption and to keep goods freshly. Specially there are many efforts to save energy with cold store in Korea. A building energy simulation program should be used to optimally select a cooling system to match the criteria of cooling rate and storage rate in a given cool crop storage building and HVAC system. The low maintenance costs, high degree of safety and environmental impacts are also favouring the underground solution. There are obviously a lot of possibility for cost-effective storage of cooled or frozen goods or liquids in ground water rock.

Impacts of Ethical Consumption Beliefs on Attitudes toward Eco-Friendly Faux Leather Apparel Products and Mediating Roles of Perceived Consumer Effectiveness and Apparel Environmental Knowledge (윤리소비신념이 친환경 인조피혁 의류제품 태도에 미치는 영향과 지각된 소비자 효율 및 의류환경지식의 매개효과)

  • This study investigated the conceptual constructs of ethical consumption beliefs and their impacts on the consumer attitudes toward eco-friendly faux leather apparel goods. The mediating roles of perceived consumer effectiveness and apparel environmental knowledge were examined in this research. A survey was conducted on female consumers between the ages of 20 and 50; subsequently, 300 responses were analyzed. The results of this study were follows: 1) The results of factor analysis and the reliability test on ethical consumption beliefs clearly showed factorial structures that include Social Responsibility, Eco-friendly Consumption, Animal Welfare, and Individual Enhancement. 2) The results of the mean scores of ethical consumption beliefs showed that respondents tended to consider Social Responsibility more important than the other three factors. Ethical consumption beliefs showed a significantly positive influence on consumer attitudes toward eco-friendly faux leather apparel products; in addition, Social Responsibility had the highest effect on product attitudes among the four factors of ethical consumption beliefs. 3) The perceived consumer effectiveness and environmental knowledge of apparel had important medicating roles in the relation-ship between ethical consumption beliefs and attitudes towards eco-friendly faux leather apparel products. This study highlighted a potential marketability of eco-friendly faux leather apparel products and that ethical consumption beliefs, perceived consumer effectiveness, and apparel environmental knowledge should be promoted among consumers to increase favorable attitudes towards these products.

A Study on the Consumption Pattern of Aquacultured Marine Fishes (양식어류의 소비 패턴에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is to analyze the past and present consumption pattern of fishes aquacultured in marine waters and thus to draw the policy direction to enhance the competitiveness of marine fish aquaculture in Korea. At present, the volume of meat consumption is surveyed to be more than that of marine fish, but it is revealed that fish consumption will become more increasing in the future according to the rise of the income. The survey shows that the consumption of fish is highest in the fall, and among the various patterns of consumption, live fish, so-called susi, is surveyed to be highly dominant. It is revealed that fish is enjoyed because of the special savor, diverse nutrients, and the prevention of adult diseases. Natural fish Is revealed to be more preferred to aquacultured one due to the sticky flesh quality and the low probability of the remained after the production process antibiotics, so that it is necessary to enhance the taste quality and make a clean cultivation to capture more market demand. Consumption of high-quality fish seems to become high in more than middle class and consumption of fish are estimated to increase in the future, more than that of meat if income level of the people increases. Also, if we try to make our high-quality fish become popular among the public and competible with the imported fish from abroad, it is recommended that they must lower production price by cost reduction and try to differentiate it by taste and environmental safety, etc. It was revealed that the significant factor in demand function for fish is income and it is almost the only factor affecting that demand. Also, it was revealed that the most significant factor affecting preference of fish is income and it Is almost the only factor affecting the preference. Therefore, we can ascertain that if proper goods can be distributed, demand for and preference of fish may increase according to the increase of income in the future.

A Study on the pattern of tenant layout in the Urban Entertainment Center (도심 엔터테인먼트 쇼핑센터(UEC)의 테넌트 배치 형태에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern of tenant layout for selected cases of five different Urban Entertainment Center(UEC) in Seoul. This research deals with the process of gaining tenant layout pattern of 40 different types. It is composed of three combination unit with tenants of the same or different consumption mode, which is divided into four different functions of retail, entertainment, dining, and service. Then, every tenant of research cases is classified as one of the fabric type, and the data is analyzed to gain its frequency rate with SPSS 14.0 program. The following is the overall explanation of the result for this research. The frequency of tenant layout pattern between the same consumption mode shows the high rate when compared to the other patterns with different consumption mode. For example, the frequency rate of tenant layout pattern which retail and dining consumption mode are placed side by side like RRR and DDD is high. Interestingly, the frequency rate of RRR type of tenant layout pattern that sells the similar products shows especially high level. It can provide the effective environment for shoppers to compare retail goods in many different stores as producing synergic effects when they are located near each other, so this strategy should be considered when planning tenants in UEC environment. Moreover, in case of dining tenants, when they are clustered together in the UEC environment it can play a role as an anchor tenant. Tenant layout pattern of dining-retail and dining-service consumption mode shows the high frequency rate than other layout pattern with other consumption mode. Besides, entertainment consumption tenants combined with dining or retail tenants show the high frequency rate when compared to the pattern combined with service consumption mode.

  • Through the recent pandemic, this study examined the theory of awe, which explains that external crises affect people's value systems and consequential behaviors. During the pandemic, some consumers expressed a growing interest in equity, while others pursued the consumption of materialistic items, such as luxurious fashion goods. According to the theory of awe, both of these phenomena could be coping responses to the crisis. Based on this, we attempted to understand the psychological processes behind the pandemic's effect on these two different consumers value systems thereby influencing sustainable consumption intentions: one through the new ecological paradigm (NEP) that emphasizes consumers' increased consciousness, and the other through materialism that emphasizes consumers' self-centered side. The results obtained from a survey of 382 U.S. consumers revealed that the degree of pandemic experience increased consumers' NEP and materialism, which also increased their economic and ethical CSR expectations. These CSR expectations then enhanced consumers' sustainable consumption intentions. As sustainable consumption and CSR are important agendas for the fashion industry, this study will provide useful insights for researchers and practitioners in the fashion field.

Effects of High School Student' Educational Experience and Expected Benefits on the Participation Intention of Collaborative Consumption (고등학생의 협력적 소비에 대한 교육경험과 기대 혜택이 참여 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Collaborative consumption (CC) occurs in organized systems or networks in which participants conduct sharing activities in the form of renting, lending, trading, bartering, and swapping of goods, services, transportation solutions, space, or money. Information and communications technologies (ICTs) that have emerged with CC. CC is expected to alleviate social problems such as hyper-consumption, pollution, and poverty by lowering the cost of economic coordination. In this study, we investigate the influence of educational experience and expected benefits of CC participation (intended to using and providing CC) of Adolescent Consumers. The subjects for the study were 418 high school students. Data was analyzed through frequency analysis, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS Win 21.0. The results of this study are as follows. First, the significant positive relationship found between CC participants (intent to use and provide CC), educational experience (home education, school education, and mass media) and expected benefits (social benefit, economic benefit, enjoyment, community effect, and reputation). Second, enjoyment, mass media, reputation, social benefit, home education and school education values were variables that influenced the using participation intention for CC. Third, the major variables influencing the providing participation intention CC were home education, enjoyment, gender, community effect, and mass media values.

  • Electric energy consumption is always followed by the introduction of diversity scale-up and state-of-the-art equipments in logistic centers. In order to analyze the status and the characteristic of the electric energy consumption quantitatively, and also to evaluate the efficiency of the electric energy, this research aims to develop an estimation model of standard electric energy consumption for logistic centers. The proposed model applies the thermodynamics theory so as to effectively reflect the peculiarity that the temperature in the logistic center influences the electric energy consumption. And the model consists of the energy consumed by the refrigerator, which can be subdivided into the heat conducted through the wall, the heat convected by the open doors and the heat lost into the goods, and the electric consumption of the machinery equipments. The model also includes a variety of explanatory variables to support an operator of logistics centers in evaluating the efficiency of energy consumption and establishing improvement strategies for energy efficiency. Application of the model developed in this study is discussed with observed data on energy consumption of a logistics center.

An Empirical Study on the Determinants of e-Trust in Internet Shopping Mall -Focuse on Comparing Import Agency Service Mall with General Internet Shopping Mall- (인터넷쇼핑몰에서 e-Trust 결정요인에 관한 연구 - 수입대행몰과 일반쇼핑몰 비교를 중심으로 -)

  • Import Agency Service Mall, which provide customers not only with convenient shopping experiences but also with purchasing, warehousing, shipping, and customs clearance services, have been playing a significant role in rapidly transforming Korean consumers into global consumers. The consumers' great demand for foreign goods(services) created Import Agency Service Mall(referred to hereafter as IASM) as a new business model of distribution and consumption, which seems to grow rapidly. Accordingly, this study examined the e-Trust by analyzing the characteristics of IASM, determinants of trust, risk perception and its association with e-Trust in IASM, and finally applying the result to general internet shopping mall(referred to hereafter as GISM). The following results came out from the analysis: First, from the result of checking these two types of internet shopping mall consumers have different determinants of trust. Second, from the question if two types perceive different risk, purchasing the foreign goods, it came out that they showed critical difference in variable relevant to goods delivery and customer service. IASM perceived risk from those two variables more than GISM Third, from the review of the relationships between determinants of trust and risk perception variables, IASM showed interrelation among all the variables except between customer service and perceived risk. Fourth, the researcher examined how the risk perceived in the course of purchasing goods has an effect on consumers e-Trust. In case of IASM, risk perception relevant to customer service had an effect on consumer e-Trust. To the contrary, incase of GISM, risk perception didn't have any effect on e-Trust. Finally, from the review of interrelation between determinants of trust and consumer e-Trust, it came out that for IASM capability had an effect on consumer e-Trust and for GISM consumer service had an effect on consumer e-Trust.

Development of household production satellite and application based on the establishment of concept and standardized measurement for household production (가정생산 위성계정의 개발 및 적용: 새로운 개념 정립과 표준화된 측정방법을 중심으로)

  • This research developed standardized satellite accounts for household production to measure the entire production in Korea using representative Korean data. This study utilized standardized methods for measuring the expenditure and consumption of expendable supplies as an element of intermediate goods in household production. The results of this research can be summarized as follows. First, the total value of household production in Korea in 2009 turned was 268 trillion won, which would be 10.16% of the GDP, based on using the method of replacement by specialty for estimating the value of housework, while it was 356 trillion won, which would be 13.5% of the GDP (2,636 trillion won), based on the method of opportunity cost. Second, the economic value of labor invested in household production was 220 trillion won when using the data from 12 main corresponding wages in the market, while it was 203 trillion won when using the method of total replacement, which used the wages of housekeepers, and 290 trillion won when using the method of opportunity cost in measuring the value of housework labor. Third, in estimating the proportion by section in terms of the total value of household production, the portion of labor in household production was measured from 76% to 82%, depending on the methods used, which is the most significant section. These results indicate that housework has the characteristics of labor-centered work. On the other hand, the value of expenditure on and consumption of expendable supplies, as one element of intermediate goods, is 63 trillion won, which is 17.7% (using the method of opportunity cost in measuring the labor of housework) of household production. Also, the value of capital goods, as the other element of intermediate goods is 2.3 trillion won, which is 0.9% (using the method of opportunity cost) of household production. In conclusion, as an element of household production, housework labor was higher in household production than expenditures on expendables, especially for cooking, cleaning, and caring for children. In the future, people should be cautious about estimating that the amount of household work could be reduced, as women's labor in the market and the household work produced by the market will increase.

Environmental Consciousness and Disposal Behavior of Home Consumption Goods (환경의식과 가정 쓰레기의 처리행태에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate some influencing factors related to housewives' environmental concern and environmental management behavior. Data were collected from questionaire with 786 housewives who live in Jeonbuk area. The results could be summarized as follows. The level of environmental concern was relatively high and differed significantly according to the level of innovation, residence, the level of education, and age of wives. But the level of environmental management behavior was relatively low, especially clothing disposal behavior and buying something to eat. These findings pointed that the program of environmental education should be more pragmatic.
