Influencing Variables and Keywords of Technology Strategy for Modernized Hanok Research

  • As eco-friendly and sustainable architecture is becoming more popular, the interest in Korean traditional wooden buildings (Hanok) has also been increasing. The building technologies of the wooden construction have been actively developed in all over the world through the diversification of new materials and construction methods. On the other hand, the growth rate of wooden construction market is still slow in Korea. In an attempt to promote the Korean traditional wooden buildings, a comprehensive research project has been conducted. This R&D project is developing standard designs, new materials, and methods for modernized Hanok including houses, public buildings, long-span structures, and even high-rise buildings. To this end, the purpose of this study is to formulate a technological strategy for popularization of modernized Hanok. Influencing variables and issues are analyzed and defined first. At the same time, the five keywords have examined in the perspective of dissemination of modernized Hanok technology. Finally, a technology road map for strategic development of modernized Hanok is proposed through casual diagrams.

Profit-oriented Impact Analysis of Demand Management Strategy on Design-Build Firms Using System Dynamics

  • In the past, a strategic management of work demands has been increasingly challenged to design-build (DB) firms. Such a management is capable of providing sufficient profitable impact of a project on them. Total project profit is mainly related to actual resources, work completion time, amount of rework, and costs. The degree of recycling work packages in the DB project delivery system is used as a measure of the quality of the performed work. However, there are few models available to evaluate the impact of a demand management strategy on the DB firms and to predict its behavior. We propose a decision-making support model as an aid for assessing the amount of rework and for predicting project profit resulting in a convincible demand management strategy. This model is constructed by using a dynamic feedback approach that can analyze the problems arising in complex managerial systems. For the purpose of illustration, widely acceptable strategies were applied into the model to explore their impacts on the DB firms. The results indicate that the model is helpful for the managers in selecting the most appropriate demand management strategy for successfully achieving their objectives.

  • 플랜트 산업은 기자재, 노동력, 기술이 함께 투입되는 종합산업으로 부가가치가 매우 높고, 선진국들의 수출전략산업으로 해외시장에서 치열한 수주경쟁이 벌어지고 있다. 우리나라도 플랜트 시장의 수출 증대는 매우 중요한 과제로 여겨지고 있다. 그러나 현재까지의 추세로 보아 우리나라의 플랜트 산업은 석유가스와 석유화학부문에 너무 치우쳐 있고 업체들간의 수주 불균형으로 인한 인력부족, 그리고 여러 기술적${\cdot}$비용적인 문제가 발생하고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 정확한 시장환경 분석을 통한 경영전략의 수립이 요구된다. 국내 건설업체들이 향후 지속적인 수익을 확보하기 위해서는 최근의 시장동향을 고려할 때 시장발전이 제한적인 국내시장 대신 해외시장에 진출하기 위한 전략의 확보가 요구된다. 조사 결과 해외 플랜트 시장의 발전 가능성에 비해 국내 업체들이 플랜트 시장에 진출하기에 시공분야에서는 오랜 경험을 바탕으로 충분한 경험을 갖고 있으나 고부가가치 분야인 엔지니어링, 사업관리 분야 등에 대해서는 매우 취약한 것으로 조사되었으며, 이로 인해 해외 업체들과의 수주 경쟁에서 뒤처지는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구는 국내 건설업체들이 플랜트 건설 분야에 경쟁력 강화를 위한 현 문제점을 지적하고 그에 대한 개선점을 제안하였다.

Analysis of Business Implementation Strategy and Construction Management Techniques in Spearheading Overseas Expansion

  • The purpose of this study is to fully understand the present state of the domestic construction companies, and to analyze phased business types and construction management techniques in order to initiate overseas expansion. Because of the recession in the domestic construction market, a thorough and strategic perspective to constantly develop inroads into overseas market is required. So we carried out a questionnaire survey targeting the experts of the overseas construction and researcher, and consulted them in depth. The questionnaire survey was divided into three sections. The first section is the necessity of overseas construction and the reason. The second is the overseas business types classified into the way of advance in short-term and long-term phase possibility of expansion. Lastly, the importance of the phased construction management techniques and the current capacity of the domestic and the foreign business trends were scrutinized. On the basis of the consultation and surveys, we analyzed the overseas business types and the construction management types in the short-term and long-term phase.

  • 국내 엔지니어링 산업은 시장개방으로 인한 국제 경쟁력 확보, 선진국 대비 기술수준 낙후, 발주방식의 다양화 등으로 인하여 체계적인 사업전략의 수립 및 평가가 절실히 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 국내외 각 산업분야의 경영성과측정에 활용되고 있는 BSC를 건설엔지니어링 기업인 H사에 적용한 성과측정모형을 제시하였다. 성과측정모형은 기업의 중장기 발전계획, SWOT분석, 직원의식분석을 통하여 재무, 성장, 내부효율, 개선 및 학습의 4개의 관점으로 구성되며, 각각의 관점별로 핵심 성공요인과 주요성과지표를 도출하였다. 그리고 정렬분석과 일치분석을 통하여 성과측정모형의 유용성을 검증하였다.

Utilizing SWOT Model to Define a Strategy for the Korean Construction Companies in Preparation of the Changes in the Global Construction Market

  • SWOT model was used to develop strategies for the Korean construction firms in entering the global construction market. Literature review, official statistics survey and other research methods were utilized in order to extract internal and external environmental factors of both the firm and local area. By extracting strength, weakness, opportunity and threat factors, a total of 12 strategies were produced: SO (Strengths-Opportunities), ST (Strengths-Threats), WT (Weaknesses-Threats), and WO (Weaknesses-Opportunities). The result of the study can be utilized as a basic data in developing a strategy for the Korean construction firms to penetrate into the global construction market.

In this paper, we aim to survey on the standardization theory and its application in construction field and suggest research direction for driving strategy of standardization road map development.

  • Construction projects that should be under the construction supervision regulation were decreased in 2008 and new supervision projects in 2010 were significantly reduced by 60% comparing to the ones as of 2009. On the contrast, the volume of world construction projects including Middle·South Asia and Africa is forecasting to be increased by 46% in 2018. However, although the needs of oversea expansion of domestic construction supervision firms are appeared more and more, their preparations to the strategically important areas in the world are insufficient. Thus, this paper aims to suggest directions of strategics and plans for domestic construction supervision industry to expand the market to the world through questionnaire surveys and expert investigation.

Optimal Implementation Strategies of Building Information Modeling for Construction Projects of LH

  • The BIM-based architectural design can be the optimal method to improve all sectors of construction industry and reduce environmental impact through digital technologies. The goals and effects of BIM needs in LH to be newly planned based on the experience of public sectors, which will ultimately contribute to maximization of effectiveness. Referring the excellent case in the UK, the current BIM standards according to maturity level 2 handle the contents related to modeling, collaborative data production, data management and assure BIM data have to be used from building construction to operation and maintenance of buildings. Therefore the strategy for the utilization of BIM for construction projects in LH consisted of three steps; first, the minimization of defects via BIM: second, strengthening the competitiveness of construction and asset management: third, upgrading the system of building production and maintenance control. After this trial, LH can accumulate know-how for building construction to be more costeffective and competitive.
