  • This study analyzed the physical properties of insulation materials upon completion of building completion years and found the suitability of the current energy performance analysis methodology to apply the insulation specified in the design drawings to the same thermal conductivity values as the new materials.

  • Insulation in buildings are one of the crucial factors for energy reduction, and depending on the application areas and properties of the insulation requirements, various different types of insulation materials are being developed, produced, and used. Amongst these is the aircaps often used as packing materials. Because of their porous nature, they are highly efficient in preventing heat and are consequently used overseas often as insulation materials and as part of cold water concrete insulation curing method. This paper studies the recently developed usage of aircaps in waterproofing materials and evaluated their performance as supplementary insulation materials.

  • Recent government policies are increasing interest in zero-energy housing, a building that minimizes energy consumption (90% reduction). As the importance of building passive performance is emphasized, the role of insulation is increasing as a way to reduce indoor heat loss in order to minimize the use of cooling and heating energy. There are two main types of insulation. Organic insulation is widely used for various construction structures such as construction and industrial due to some merits such as the convenience of construction and construction cost. However, it has been pointed out as a main cause every time a fire accident occurs, Jecheon Sports Center', the fire damage of buildings caused by the use of organic insulation materials is expanding to social problems, so it is urgent to research on nonflammable inorganic insulation materials.

건축용 단열재의 장기 경시변화에 따른 열성능 특성 (The Thermal Performance of Building Insulation Materials According to Long-Term Aging)

  • This study is to draw thermal property data during long-term aging, by testing the thermal conductivity of building insulation materials in Korea. The thermal resistance of extruded insulation within 3 days from manufacture performed well over the KS Standard. After 50 to 110 days, however, the thermal performance had deteriorated to the level of the KS standard. Eventually, after 4,000 days, the insulation performance had deteriorated to about 25.4~41.8% of the initial performance. Therefore, this research will be utilized as a reference for thermal properties during long-term aging, in order to improve standards and regulations related to building insulation materials.

국내 발전소 지붕방수설계 시스템 및 단열 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the domestic power plant roof waterproofing system & insulation efficiency)

  • As the development of construction technology and new materials, building requirements has been varied gadually. Comfortable environment and serviceability of production activity and energy conservation are being dealt with very seriously. Recently localization of engineering technology of Power Plant, however, construction materials and domestic technology are being developed forcingly. According to above topics this thes is going to study roof waterproofing, thermal insulation and evaluate adiabatic performance and evaluation of properties of waterproofing materials and energy conservation. The results of studying and evaluating of roof waterproofing, thermal insulation and adiabatic performance of Power Plant are as follows. 1. Sheet waterproofing method is better than that of asphalt waterproofing method in that adaptability of wearhertight, thermal resistant, contraction and expansion. 2. It is required to replace polyurethane or ethylene used as thermal insulation with rock wool which is noncombustible materials. 3. It is recommended to usd outer insulation method than inner insulation method due to superioty of outer insulation method. Efficiency of insulation materials used in power plant is generally good except perlite mortar used in the power plant(YGN 1-2, GRI 1-2).

  • Research has been conducted in many fields for the zero energy of domestic buildings. Among them, the development of insulation has become an essential element. Accordingly, researches are being made to improve the performance of organic insulating materials, and PF boards having the lowest thermal conductivity among organic insulating materials have been in the spotlight. However, problems have arisen due to the problems of durability of insulation materials such as PF boards and past acidification, and the durability of insulation materials is deteriorated when moisture or water enters due to crack gaps during the insulation of the basement layer or the external insulation method. In regard to the durability of the insulation, when the organic insulators of different kinds were placed in water, the pH was weakly basic in all organic insulation materials except PF, and the PF was about 4 pH. As a result, the PF should be continuously reviewed, and further analysis should be carried out to determine what causes acidification.

  • Due to the big fire in Uijeongbu, the status of construction, fireproof materials and structural method were examined to prevent fire propagation through outside insulation parts of urban living homes. Through research and experiments, the following results were obtained. It was confirmed that outside heat-insulation wall method was used in a large number of urban living homes which were made of materials and structures spreading fire easily.Through experiments, it was revealed that lightweight plate material, as a fireproof material, can save the cost as well as the period of construction and obtain more than 30 minutes of evacuation time which is twice the maximum evacuation time.

  • The organic insulation material has excellent thermal insulation property, but it is difficult to expect fire stability, and semi inorganic insulation only delays combustible hour but it is difficult to expect fire stability. In this study, thermal insulation property of cement-based non-combustible inorganic insulation using cement and non combustible materials and redispersible polymer powder was studied. As a result of the experiment, the thermal insulation property decreased as the use of redispersible polymer powder increased, but the heat insulation property improved when using the appropriate amount.

  • Data on basic properties are needed due to the increased interest of insulation materials, but In Korea, there are fewer data related to the basic properties of insulation. so the absorption rate was measured every seven days by selecting some of the insulation among insulation materials to provide basic data on absorption rates among basic properties. Measured over 43 days, both absorption and weight showed the highest PF levels, other insulation is judged to have almost reached the maximum absorption rate. PF is still an increasing trend and requires constant observation.

  • The building insulation materials shall keep their thermal conductivity constant even when the freezing and thawing repeats for over a long time. But, in this condition of repeated freezing and thawing, the organic building insulation material may suffer the degradation in the thermal performance as the gas put into the insulation materials gets out slowly over a long time. Accordingly, in this study, the change in the thermal performance has been tested and evaluated when the repeated freezing and thawing cycles happen.
