This paper considers an integrated one-vendor multi-buyer production-inventory model where the vendor manufactures multiple products in lot at their associated finite production rates. In the model, it is allowed for each product to be shipped in lot to the buyers even before the whole product production is not completed yet. Each product lot is dispatched to the associated buyer in a number of shipments. The buyers consume their products at fixed rates. The objective is to the production and shipment schedules in the integrated system, which minimizes the total cost per unit time. The total cost consists of production setup cost, inventory holding cost and shipment cost. For the model, an iterative optimal solution procedure with shipment consolidation policy incorporated. It is then tested through numerical experiments to show how efficient and effective the shipment consolidation policy is.

Under a VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) system, the vendor holds a certain level of control over not only inbound replenishment decisions on stocking but also outbound re-supply decisions. In this situation, vendor faces a better opportunity to synchronize the inventory and transportation decisions. However, shipment consolidation can reduce transportation expenses, but delivery time about the customer comes to be long and a customer service is fallen. Thus, a stock and transportation decision must consider this correlation. This study look into the relevant literature and suggest about further research direction.

This paper considers a shipment planning of products from manufacturers to a third-party warehouse for demands with production time windows where a demand must be replenished in its time window. The underling lot-sizing model also assumes cargo delivery cost in each inbound replenishment to the warehouse. For this model, an optimal O($nT^4$) is presented where n is the number of demands and T is the length of the planning horizon.

From an economic perspective, an enterprise's business activity depends on the efficient use of corporate resources for generating profits. However, on the enterprise side, it is difficult to measure and evaluate the effective use of each resource. This paper suggests an alternative for eliminating process inefficiencies in the consolidation of competitive power in auto parts manufacturing company A. Multitudinous process variables from company A's raw materials-to-shipment process are configured as input resources, and a Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) is carried out to determine economical benefit of said resources' operation, as well as how products are manufactured. The DEA model offers a non-parametric approach to measuring relative efficiency using input and output factors. Furthermore, AHP is used for logically deciding the importance of each evaluation factor. In general, DEA models have been used for measuring efficiency of the service and public sectors. However, this study focused on measuring the efficiency of SMEs production lines.
