The most of horizontal drainages, which is composed of the aggregates made of sand and crushed stone, are used to improve the soft ground. However, where the aggregates are used as the horizontal drainage, it often brings about the delay of consolidation. For this reason, the horizontal drain pipe system is applied to properly improve the soft ground using a drainage pipe instead of horizontal drainage. This system is direct drain method for disappearing the excess porewater pressure which is caused by placing of fill on the soft ground. The large-scale field test was conducted in order to evaluate the applicability and constructability of the horizontal drain pipe system. The settlement characteristics of improved ground with horizontal drain pipe system was observed. It is also compared to the conventional soft ground improvement method to confirm its effectiveness.
There are many parties who connected with contracts like a contract for construction. Dispute arising from the two parties can be souled by themselves. but it grows the necessity of settlement at one effort. The meaning of multiparty arbitration is solution of mixed disputes without inconsistency through multiparty concerned. H the parses wish to settle the disputes by arbitration, they must come to an arbitration agreement. The arbitration agreement is necessary to resolve disputes autonomously, that may be in the form of a separate agreement or in the form of a clause in a contract. More ever it is resonable to view the arbitration agreement as a substantive contract in its legal nature enabling the authority for dispute resolution by the arbitrator. I had argument about who should appoint the arbitrator. That is to say, each party can appoint the arbitrator, otherwise the courts can appoint one. The basis of multiparty arbitration is focused on the factor that the courts may have the right to order the consolidation of arbitration proceedings without consent of the parties. The dispute can be settled by the arbitrators who are appointed. Appointing arbitrator is very important because it affects the party's equality. The right to appoint arbitrator shall be entitled each party in multiparty arbitration. Therefore they can appoint plural arbitrators by mutual agreement. for .reference to Rules of Arbitration of The International Chamber of Commerce, the Court shall appoint a sole arbitrator or three arbitrators in condition. The Arbitration Act of Korea dose not have the clause on multiparty arbitration including the arbitration rules. But if we have the clause enacted, it brings a situation in which both parties gain a benefit.
This is to study intellectual property(IP) protection of contents which is related with transactions upon internet network. Issues of electronic transaction and infringement cases were studied and analyzed for intellectual property protection. In chapter 4, IP protection plan and responsibility of webmaster were studied and emphasized to protect IP upon Internet. Also, protection against infringement and method of dispute resolution were studied and suggested the method. In this study, the protection plan was suggested because IP protection of contents in internet would be many cases upon internet technology. It found out that technology was important for business expansion of contents, e-Commerce and IP protection, and to enact a law related with IP. In chapter 5 conclusion, this study was summarized and further research was suggested. This study results are 1. IP related laws had better enact or revise to meet internet technology changes for IP protection timely, 2. local laws are to change and develop to harmony with international norm and trends, 3. consolidation of IP related laws for unification of IP statement should be incurred to avoid unnecessary energy of legislation and not to create dispute matters. That's also for customer satisfaction. In conclusion, not to incur ADR and for IP protection of contents, IP related laws would be promptly made or revised, according to technology change trends and for international harmony, That's for internet related industry development and customer satisfaction.

Granular compaction piles increase the load bearing capacity of the soft ground and reduce the settlement of foundation built on the reinforced soil. The granular compaction group piles also accelerate the consolidation of the soft ground and prevent the liquefaction caused by earthquake using the granular materials such as sand, gravel, stone etc. However, this method is one of unuseful method in Korea. In the present study, the optimum locations of granular compaction group piles using genetic algorithm are proposed. The results were shown that the bearing capacity was increased in the case concentrated on the central part of the group piles. Also, the optimum design for total weight of granular compaction group piles was carried out in consideration of the economical efficiency and parametric studies were performed to examine the effects of parameters at the design of granular compaction group piles.
Recently, the demand for industrial and residential lands are being increased with economic growth, however, it is difficult to acquire the land for development with good ground condition. For efficient and balanced development of land, new development projects are being carried out not only the areas with inland but those with the soft ground as well. As soft grounds have complex engineering properties and high variations such as ground settlement especially when their strength is low and depth is deep, it needs to accurately analyze the engineering properties of soft grounds and find general measurement for stabilization and economic design and management. Prefabricated vertical drain technology is widely used to accelerate the consolidation of soft clay deposits and dredged soil under the preloading and various types of vertical drain are being used with the discharge capacity. Under field conditions, the discharge capacity is changed with various reason, such as soil condition, confinement pressure, long-term clogging and folding of vertical drains, and so on. Therefore, many researcher and engineer recommend the use of required discharge capacity. In this paper, the experimental study were carried out for two different types of vertical drains by utilizing the large-scale model tests and waste lime.
This study presents a modeling approach for geogrid-encased stone column(GESC) method which is widely used in Europe as an alternative to conventional pile foundations. Several benefits of using the stone column method include sound performance, low cost, expediency of construction, and liquefaction resistance, among others. Recently, geosynthetic-encased stone column approach has been developed to improve load carrying capacity through increasing confinement effect. The aim of this research is to establish a systematic approach for modeling of GESC and to form a database for the fundamentals of GESC. This paper presents details of 3D modeling of GESC together with the general behavior of GESC.
This paper presents how to determine the system reliability of a typical shallow foundation constituted four potential correlated failure modes of hearing capacity (BCM), consolidation settlement (CSM), moment (MFM), and tension shear (PCM). Through the idenfication of the distinct and different modes and evaluation of range of system reliability, the obtained conclusions are as follows; 1. The CSM and the PCM are the lowest and highest of reliability indices of single performance function, and the BCM and the MFM are medium of them. 2. For the correlated failure modes, the hi-modal bounds Is narrower and lower of failure probability than the unimodal bounds. Not to be overestimated, therefore, the system reliability should be based on the second-order bounds using correlated performance functions.
In this study, we constructed the test embankment with four kinds of sections(2 kinds of bottom ash; tire shred-bottom ash mixture, weathered soil) in field and had been monitoring the behaviour of the test embankment and change of ground water quality for 1 year. In the geotechnical aspects, there was no relative difference of deformation in 4 test materials section and we could not see the possibility of the strength-reduction of coal ash materials by freezing inside of the embankment. In addition, no settlement was observed in the test sections because the base soil of the test sections was rigid enough that no consolidation was occurred. In the examination of water quality, all of the heavy metals and negative ions were detected below the drinking water standards except for sulfate($SO_4^{2-}$). In the beginning of measurement, higher concentrations of sulfate from 4 test sections were detected than drinking water standard for 20 days after beginning of the test but the concentrations decreased below the drinking water standard after 50 days after the tests.
Although the discharge capacity of the natural fiber drains are very low compared to that of plastic drain board (PDB), it is found that the conventional fiber drains and the new developed straw drain boards have great potential for use as a substitute for conventional plastic drain boards through several model tests. To verify their field application, a pilot test using environmentally friendly drains is also being carried out to prove their effective discharge capacity in the field. The pilot test site was divided into 5 different areas, with various combinations of vertical and horizontal drains installed for evaluation. Definite characteristics of various drains are still to be found due to the delay in construction of embankment. Consolidation behavior of three types of vertical drains and two types of horizontal drains will be analyzed after the completion of the embankment in the near future.
In recent years, geotextile-encased gravel columns (usually called stone columns) have become a popular method to increasing soil shear strength, decreasing the settlement, acceleration of the rate of consolidation, reducing the liquefaction potential and increasing the bearing capacity of foundations. The behavior of improved loose base-soil with gravel columns under shear loading and the shear stress-horizontal displacement curves got from large scale direct shear test are of great importance in understanding the performance of this method. In the present study, by performing 36 large-scale direct shear tests on sandy base-soil with different fine-content of zero to 30% in both not improved and improved with gravel columns, the effect of the presence of gravel columns in the loose soils were investigated. The results were used to predict the shear stress-horizontal displacement curve of these samples using support vector machines (SVM). Variables such as the non-plastic fine content of base-soil (FC), the area replacement ratio of the gravel column (Arr), the geotextile encasement and the normal stress on the sample were effective factors in the shear stress-horizontal displacement curve of the samples. The training and testing data of the model showed higher power of SVM compared to multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural network in predicting shear stress-horizontal displacement curve. After ensuring the accuracy of the model evaluation, by introducing different samples to the model, the effect of different variables on the maximum shear stress of the samples was investigated. The results showed that by adding a gravel column and increasing the Arr, the friction angle (ϕ) and cohesion (c) of the samples increase. This increase is less in base-soil with more FC, and in a proportion of the same Arr, with increasing FC, internal friction angle and cohesion decreases.
