  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of generation on consciousness toward wedding ritual and to compare the difference in their consciousness between the young and the old. Data were obtained from 489 individuals living in Seoul. OLS regression analysis was used to identify the effect of generation on consciousness toward wedding ritual. The effect of generation was significant in the consciousness of wedding procedures, while it was not significant in the consciousness of wedding expenditures, holding other factors constant. [t was also found that procedure-important style was associated with more expenditures on wedding. The findings of this study suggested that the materialism had an important effect on the consciousness of wedding procedures for both generations. Understanding these factors is useful for family resource management professionals and educators who develop educational programs to build desirable wedding culture in Korea.

This study has discovered the following: First. A mother's pro-environmental consuming behavior is one of the most important factors significantly influencing a young adult's consciousness and behavior. Second. • The coffee industry has grown very fast ever since international coffee brands were launched in the 1990's. Recently, consumers have begun to focus on coffee produced ethically. This phenomenon is due to ethical-consumption consciousness, which consists of three factors, emotional value, social value and function value. Most studies on this topic have focused on consumers who purchase fair-trade coffee. Thus, this study is novel in its focus on baristas who sell fairtrade coffee in their shops as well as differences from former studies. The three factors of ethical-consumption consciousness of baristas affected the sale of fair-trade coffee, except for the function value. Therefore, the sale of fair-trade coffee could be influenced by ethical-consumption consciousness of baristas. This study shows that education of baristas can promote the sale of fair-trade coffee. However, there are limitations as it only researched coffee brands ranked in the top 5, so further studies will be required in the future.

  • The purpose of this study were to examine the disposal consciousness of foods waste and meal management behavior related to environmental conservation, and to find out the ways to improve the disposal of foods waste. Data were collected from questionaire with 786 housewives who live in Chonbuk area. About 45% of foods waste consisted of vegetables and fruits. The levels of cooking(use) and idsposal behavior among meal management behavior were relatively high, but food preparation(buy) score was low. These results suggested that menu planning before food preparation, and buying some cleaned and trimmed foods in the market should be recommennded to reduce the foods waste. The levels of meal management behavior did not show any significant associaations with disposal consciousness of foods waste but were positively correlated to environmental conciousness. It could be thought that the effort of government administration to reduce and reuse of foods waste is needed to improve the desirable disposal behavior of that, and the well programmed enviornmental education should be more required and practical than increase the environmental conciousness.
