  • In this paepr, we propose a dynamic multicast routin algorithm for constructing the delay-constrained minimal spanning tree in the VP-based ATM networks, in which we consider the effiiciency enen in the case wheree the destination dynamically joins/departs the multicast connection. For constructing the delay-constrained spanning tree, we frist generate a reduced network consisting of only VCX nodes from a given ATM network, originally consisting of VPX/VCX nodes. Then, we obtain the delay-constrained spanning tree with a minimal tree cost on the reduced network by using our proposed heuristic algorithm. Through numerical examples, we show that our dynamic multicast routing algorithm can provide an efficient usage of network resources when the membership nodes frequently changes during the lifetime of a multicast connection. We also demonstrate the more cost-saving can be expected in dense networks when applyingour proposed algorithm.

  • The nodes of Ad hoc network are made up of location registration for sending informations and a great number of packet transmissions to maintain routing route among the nodes. Under this environment, a huge number of traffics would be generated as mobility variable occurs more than in physical network. Hence, in this paper, focused on to study the relationship of nodes to analyze the extent of the traffic in order to control the traffics of the multi-hop in Ad hoc.

  • DTN flooding based routing protocol replicate the message copy to increase the delivery like hood that overloads the network resources. The probabilistic routing protocols reduce replication cost by forwarding the message to a node that holds high predictability value to meet its destination. However, the network traffic converges to high probable nodes and produce congestion that triggers the drop of previously stored messages. In this paper, we have proposed a routing protocol called as Connection frequency Buffer Aware Routing Protocol (CFBARP) that uses an adaptive method to maintain the information about the available buffer space at the receiver before message transmission. Furthermore, a frequency based method has been employed to determine the connection recurrence among nodes. The proposed strategy has performed well in terms of reducing message drop, message relay while increases the delivery probability.

  • This paper presents a comprehensive scheme for assessing the importance of multiple microgrids (MGs) network that includes distributed energy resources (DERs), renewable energy systems (RESs), and energy storage system (ESS) facilities. Due to the uncertainty of severe weather, large-scale cascading failures are inevitable in energy networks. making the assessment of the structural vulnerability of the energy network an attractive research theme. This attention has led to the identification of the importance of measuring energy nodes. In multiple MG networks, the energy nodes are regarded as one MG. This paper presents a modified PageRank algorithm to assess the importance of MGs that include multiple DERs and ESS. With the importance rank order list of the multiple MG networks, the core MG (or node) of power production and consumption can be identified. Identifying such an MG is useful in preventing cascading failures by distributing the concentration on the core node, while increasing the effective link connection of the energy flow and energy trade. This scheme can be applied to identify the most profitable MG in the energy trade market so that the deployment operation of the MG connection can be decided to increase the effectiveness of energy usages. By identifying the important MG nodes in the network, it can help improve the resilience and robustness of the power grid system against large-scale cascading failures and other unexpected events. The proposed algorithm can point out which MG node is important in the MGs power grid network and thus, it could prevent the cascading failure by distributing the important MG node's role to other MG nodes.

  • For supporting various mobile networks, this paper proposes a framework of distributed connection admission control, named SmartCAC. Especially, intelligent CAC operations are adopted in terms of interoperation between mobile nodes and mobile networks. This scheme does not need to correct information between networks. Basically vertical handover call can use guard channel that was reserved for handoff, because SmartCAC addresses the identification between vertical handover call and new call, delay and reliability as requirement of QoS for efficient connection control. The scheme also uses mobile terminal speed for network filtering. Especially an extended protocol is proposed to give different network states information to mobile nodes because there have been no ways for mobile nodes to compare the states of different networks. Sophisticated simulation study is performed in order to evaluate SmartCAC in terms of signaling cost. As a result, signaling cost of ours is up to 96% better than that of the existing scheme.

  • VANET(Vehicular Ad-hoc Network), standardization of IEEE 802.11p specification is in process. 802.11 MAC protocol grants all nodes equal opportunity to acquire channel without regard to their bit-rates, making it possible for lower bit-rate nodes to occupy communication channel for a fair amount of time thus keeping the higher bit-rate nodes from acquiring connection channel which downward-equalize the overall network performance. Also with the 802.11p MAC protocol, the probability of collision occurring increases as the number of nodes grow. The proposed algorithm is a new MAC protocol that guarantees nodes with acquired channel a firm priority over other nodes for a fixed amount of time with TXOP concept added to 'packet burst' according to the current transmitting speed. This newly designed algorithm allows the construction of wireless network with enhanced network throughput, decreased probability of collisions as well as providing the means to grant each node a fair chance of acquiring connection according to their channel conditions. The algorithm sets the CW's (Contention Window) width wider than the standard's and modulates the continuous transmitting threshold value depending on channel acquired time, thus improving the overall performance of the network.

  • In general, organizations operating multi-domain networks find it difficult to represent and manage multiple domain net works on a single screen space. Instead, most of them are managed with multiple screens visualizing network topology by domain or partitioning one screen area into multiple domains. We propose an efficient method to visualize the topology using only minimal connection information between domain-agnostic nodes in this work. This method visualizes the topology by utilizing centrality indices representing the influence of nodes in the network. Furthermore, the method dynamically segments the entire node's display area using virtual Root nodes to auto-separate domains and weights of child nodes and placing nodes in 3D space. Thus, although it is a straightforward method, the multi-domain network topology can be visualized with only minimal connection information between nodes.

  • Hybrid acceleration-impedance sensor nodes on Imote2-platform are designed for damage monitoring in steel girder connections. Thus, the feasibility of the sensor nodes is examined about its performance for vibration-based global monitoring and impedance-based local monitoring in the structural systems. To achieve the objective, the following approaches are implemented. First, a damage monitoring scheme is described in parallel with global vibration-based methods and local impedance-based methods. Second, multi-scale sensor nodes that enable combined acceleration-impedance monitoring are described on the design of hardware components and embedded software to operate. Third, the performances of the multi-scale sensor nodes are experimentally evaluated from damage monitoring in a lab-scaled steel girder with bolted connection joints.
