Development of Spatio-Temporal Neural Network for Connected Korean Digits Recognition (한국어 연결 숫자음 인식을 위한 시공간 신경회로망의 개발)

  • In this paper, a new approach for Korean connected digits recognition using the spatio-temporal neural network is reported. The data of seven digits phone numbers are used in the recognition of connected words, and in the initial experiment, digit recognition rate of 28% was achieved. In this paper, to increase recognition rate, two different approaches are analyzed. In the first system, to compensate the STNN's own defect and to emphasize the Korean word's phonic characters, the starting point of phone is pointed by comparing the average magnitude and zero-crossing rate and the ending point is pointed by comparing only zero-crossing rate. The digit recoginiton rate increased to 61%. Also, in the second system, to consider fact that same word's phone is varied severally, the number of STNN's of each word is increased from one to five, and then the varied same word's phones can be included to the increased STNN's. The digit recogniton rate of connected words increased to 89%.

  • Co-articulation is one of major factors that make connected word recognition difficult. This Study Considers the fact that the head Part Of the following word is changed by the Preceding word in a connection point, by applying the co-articulation model, and adj usting the following word .We choose a critical damping second order linear system for the co-articulation model, combining a one-stage DP matching recognition algorithm with this model, and Investigating the effects. The recognition experiment is carried out for 35 Korean 4 connected digits spoken by 5 male speakers, and recognition rate Is upgraded by 4.7 percent.

A Tow-stage Recognition Approach Based on Error Pattern Hypotheses for Connected Digit Recognition

  • In this paper, a two-stage recognition approach based on error pattern hypotheses is proposed to reduce errors of a connected digit recognizer. In the approach, a conventional recognizer is first used to produce N-best candidate strings, and then error patterns are hypothesized by examining the candidate strings. For substitution error pattern hypotheses, error-pattern-dependent classifiers having more discriminative power than the first-stage classifier are used ; and for insertion and deletion errors, word duration and energy contour information are exploited are exploited to discriminated confusing pairs. Simulation results showed that the proposed approach achieves 15% decrease in word error rate for speaker-independent Korean connected digit recognition when a hidden Markov model-based recognizer is used for the first-stage classifier.

  • In this paper, we consider the implementation of connected digit recognition system using tree structured lexicon model. To implement efficiently the fixed or variable length digit recognition system, finite state network (FSN) is required. We merge the word network algorithm that implements the FSN with lexical tree search algorithm that is used for general speech recognition system for fast search and large vocabulary systems. To find the efficient modeling of digit recognition system, we investigate some performance changes when the lexical tree search is applied.

  • This paper describes an efficient algorithm to generate compact and complete prompts lists for connected spoken words speech corpus. In building a connected spoken digit recognizer, we have to acquire speech data in various contexts. However, in many speech databases the lists are made by using random generators. We provide an efficient algorithm that can generate compact and complete lists of digits in various contexts. This paper includes the proof of optimality and completeness of the algorithm.

A Study on Korean 4-connected Digit Recognition Using Demi-syllable Context-dependent Models (반음절 문맥종속 모델을 이용한 한국어 4 연숫자음 인식에 관한 연구)

  • Because a word of Korean digits is a syllable and deeply coarticulatied in connected digits, some recognition models based on demisyllables have been proposed by researchers. However, they could not show an excellent recognition results yet. This paper proposes a recognition model based on extended and context-dependent demisyllables, such as a tri-demisyllable like a tri-phone, for the Korean 4-connected digits recognition. For experiments, we use a toolkit of HTK 3.0 for building this model of continuous HMMs using training Korean connected digits from SiTEC database and for recognizing unknown ones. The results show that the recognition rate is 92% and this model has an ability to improve the recognition performance of Korean connected digits.

  • This paper presents a typographical analyses and classes. Typographical analysis is an indispensable tool for machine-printed character recognition in English. This analysis is a preliminary step for character segmentation in OCR. This paper is divided into two parts. In the first part, word typographical classes from words are defined by the word typographical analysis. In the second part, character typographical classes from connected components are defined by the character typographical analysis. The character typographical classes are used in the character segmentation.

  • In this paper, we consider the implementation of connected digit recognition system and the several approaches to improve its performance. To implement efficiently the fixed or variable length digit recognition system, finite state network (FSN) is required. We merge the word network algorithm that implements the FSN with one pass dynamic programming search algorithm that is used for general speech recognition system for fast search. To find the efficient modeling of digit recognition system, we perform some experiments along the various conditions to affect the performance and summarize the results.

  • The study of the awareness on DM, the degree of satisfaction, and intention of word-of-mouth has found that when the confidence factor is stressed, intention of word-of-mouth is seen to rise, and when the perception factor is placed emphasis on, intention of word-of-mouth is also seen to be on the rise. The 790 questionnaires collected were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, confidence degree, and regression analysis. This means that the higher the degree of satisfaction by means of the recognition, attention, trust of DM advertisement, the relationship reenforcement of DM advertisement and transmission of information is, the higher intention of word-of-mouth is. Beauty art business is characteristic of visits being connected with sales. The awareness has an effect on the degree satisfaction, and it affects intention of word-of-mouth. Therefore, it is thought that Beauty art business requires systematic, analytic and unique DM advertisement.

  • The history of automatic speech recognition research, and current and future speech products at Fujitsu are introduced here. The speech recognition research at Fujitsu started in 1970. Our research efforts have results in the production of a speaker dependent 12,000 word discrete / connected word recognizer(F2360), and a speaker independent 17 word discrete word recognizer(F2355L/S). Currently, we are working on a larger vocabulary speech recognizer, in which an input utterance will be matched with networks representing possible phonemic variations. Its application to text input is also discussed.
