  • A wearable antenna made using conductive tape on paper is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is composed of a half-wavelength conducting dipole strip and a parasitic conducting strip on the A4 copy paper. The antenna is fed at the center of the dipole strip by an SMA connector. The configuration of the proposed antenna changes according to the origami method. Therefore the radiation patterns of the antenna vary according to whether or not the paper is folded. This approach solves the problem that the reception ratio of the signal decreases because of null points in the antenna radiation pattern. The reflection coefficient and the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna at 900 MHz are evaluated using an EM simulation and measurements. It was shown that the proposed paper antenna has reconfigurable characteristics at 900 MHz when utilizing the origami method.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic scattering problems by a resistive strip grating with tapered resistivity on a grounded dielectric plane according to strip width and spacing, relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layers, and incident angles of a electric wave are analyzed by applying the Fourier-Galerkin Moment Method known as a numerical procedure. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the resistive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the electric current density on the strip. The resistivity of resistive strips in this paper varies from zeroes at one edge to infinite at the other edge, then the induced surface current density on the resistive strip is expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials of the order ${\alpha}=0.2,\;{\beta}=-0.2$ as a orthogonal polynomials. The numerical results of the geometrically normalized reflected power in this paper are compared with those for the existing perfectly conducting strip. The numerical results of the normalized reflected power for conductive strips case with zero resistivity in this paper show in good agreement with those of existing papers.

  • The scatting problem by E-polarized plane wave with obique incidence on a tapered resistive strip grating with zero resistivity(perfectly conducting) at strip-edges is analyzed by the method of moments in the spectral domain. Then the induced surface current density on the strip is expanded in a series of Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. The expasion coefficients are calculated numerically in the spectral domain, the numerical results of the geometric-optical reflection coefficient for the tapered resistivity in this paper are compared with those for the existing uniform resistivity. And the position of sharp variation points in the magnitude of the geometric-optical reflection coefficient can be moved by varying the incident angle and the strip spacing, It is found out that these sparp variation points are due to the transition of higher mode between the propagation mode and the evanescent mode.

  • In hot strip rolling, the work roll profile is one of the main factors in predicting and correcting the strip profile. Various studies concerning the wear profile and the thermal crown of work roll have been performed, and the results of these studies have shown that the work roll profile must be predicted accurately so as to efficiently control the strip qualities such as thickness, crown, flatness, and camber. Therefore, a precise prediction model of roll profile is called for in a perfect shape control system. In this paper, a genetic algorithm was applied to improve on the roll profile prediction model in hot strip rolling. In this approach, the optimal design problem is formulated on the basis of a numerical model so as to cover the diverse design variables and objective functions. A genetic algorithm was adopted for conducting design iteration for optimization to determine the coefficient of the numerical model for minimization of errors in the result of the calculated value and the measured data. A comparative analysis showed a satisfactory conformity between them..

  • A strip-type bending actuator using perfluoro sulfonic acid film ($Nafion^{(R)}$ 117, Du Pont), which is a kind of conducting polymer, fabricated and characterized. Conducting polymer is a useful material as an actuator due to the simple structure, fabrication method and low driving voltage. Experimental results show that the fabricated bending actuator has about ${\pm}10^{\circ}$ of bending angle at 4 V and fast response, which means that the conducting polymer can be used practically as actuator material.

  • We calculate the distribution of the induced current on the strip by the TE waves on the infinite conducting strip. The boundary equations represented as the spatial domain function becomevery complicated equations including convolution integral. As we transform it to the spectral domain, we have a very simple equation expressed by some algebraic multiplication of the current density function and Green's function. It is shown that the computation result of the induced current distribution gives the optimum value, when the stop condition of iteration presented in this paper are satisfied.

  • We calculate the distribution of the current on the strip by the incident waves on the infinite conducting strip line. The boundary equations represented as the spatial domain function become very complicated equations including convolution integral. Transformed it to the spectral domain, we have a very simple equation is composed by some algebraic multiplication of the current density function and Green's function. the acceleration of iteration procedure is achieved by Kastner's method. The result of iteration gives us the optimum value when it satisfies the iteration stop condition presented in this paper. We confirmed that the induced current density distribution on the stripline has been changed as variaties of the width.
